There's a reason I always buy ready-made pastry!

why I hope you have good house/life insurance Grin

Pussycatinboots · 17/06/2020 20:07

Wreck lucky for your DD that why, Firefly and I didn't offer to bake something similar Grin

It would not have looked any way near that good and may have summoned the Fire Brigade 🚒

Mrsmadevans · 17/06/2020 21:37

Fabulous cake Wreck your friend is wonderful Smile
I bet your Dd loved it bless her Smile

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 17/06/2020 22:41

Not sure about the life insurance Firefly. I just have to be very alert!!!

FireflyGirl · 17/06/2020 22:51

Decorated cakes are my DM's specialty. I'll have to see if I can dig out a photo of my wedding cake - she did 3 tiers: one tier was red velvet, decorated like a traditional cake, one tier was traditional sponge decorated with a fairy garden (I got married in a fairy glen in Cornwall), and the other was carrot cake decorated in Star Wars theme. It looked amazing although I didn't point out to her that the Star Wars figures she had used (Luke & Leia) were brother and sister Grin

The rest of my baking is usually pretty good, I'm just too heavy handed for pastry. My Nana said it was because I have warm hands! Bless her... Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 17/06/2020 22:59

I'm not bad at baking.

Your DD's cake is lovely, Wreck!

It's impossible to make pastry with warm hands, Firefly!

The cross stitch is coming on. Just need to do the bees in the corners, then I'll wait til baby is born to finish it off.

I woke up at 4.30 for a wee and haven't been able to get back over! I've been laid listening to the birds. It's going to be a long day...

Your cross stitch looks wonderful, Fluffy. I need to get back on with my Christmas one! I just don't have the energy at the moment!

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 18/06/2020 06:36

Well done fluffy!

I am great at pastry fire because I have cold hands :)

Morning!

We're due torrential rain almost all day. Our butts will be overflowing (though the allotment ones take longer to fill as they have less gutter catching the water, so it'll give them a chance!).

Firefly, I struggled to do DS' cross stitch while I was pregnant. It was only my week in hospital before he was born which allowed me to complete it!

I'm tired. I keep waking at 6.45 for no reason. Annoying.

It's raining here and is meant to rain all day which is fine by me. Next week it's saying 28° Shock

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 18/06/2020 07:23

Rain all day here too. Should have had DS at home yesterday when he could have been in the paddling pool and at nursery today. Oh well there will be a lot of TV watching and some baking.

Pussycatinboots · 18/06/2020 07:42

fluffy 6.45 is a luxurious lie-in!! Like Firefly I've been up since dawn poked her head up at about half 4 and then disappeared behind the heavy rain clouds. Grin
I'm another with v hot hands. No chance of making pastry.

WreckTangled · 18/06/2020 07:43

My weather app is saying 29° next week now!

NoWordForFluffy · 18/06/2020 08:00

We only go up to 24° next week, and only on Weds. We're off to the beach on Tuesday for DD's birthday!

NerosFiddle · 18/06/2020 08:26

Morning.

The highest we have next week is 17. Amazing how different the temperatures are over across us all.

One app is saying it'll rain at 5 for the rest of the night, then the other app is saying no rain all day. 🤷‍♀️

These are the beds I'm looking at. Not the exact ones as the furniture shop doesn't have all its products on its website.

I always approve of anything with inbuilt storage, Neros!

10 minutes after I posted, DS came in as he'd had a nightmare, so no chance of getting back to sleep. I feel like it's the middle of the day already!

We're forecast rain all day today, so I'm putting the allotment off until tomorrow. I had DH go strim the grass last night, as my hayfever was killing me from the pollen. I'm hoping to finish getting everything in the ground, so the rain will be good for it all!

BBC says we'll reach 26 next Thursday!!

Think I'll follow your lead, most, and plan TV and baking!

KVlovesWinter · 18/06/2020 12:01

Morning all

It's another cloudy day here and around 14 degrees. We had a few hours of sun yesterday afternoon which was nice, managed to eat dinner in the garden before the clouds returned 😀

Think today will be a nice long walk out with Dd and Ds. Then off to pick up some fence paint.

Fluffy Your cross stitches are beautiful, wish I had the patience to do the bigger ones I usually just stick to the mini ones.

NoWordForFluffy · 18/06/2020 14:51

Well, it's solid rain here, but it came later than forecast and isn't as heavy either. Definitely wet though.

I did 5 more bees at lunchtime. Only 3 more to do. Plus I'll do the flowers in the name box, then it's done for now.

KV, where are you? Lucky not to have rain as there's a yellow warning almost everywhere, I think!

WreckTangled · 18/06/2020 14:55

Suns out again here, between cloud. We have had rain but nothing heavy and no storms Sad

NoWordForFluffy · 18/06/2020 15:10

Getting heavier here. Do you want some?!

We've had loads of storms recently. I'm done with them now!

OP posts:
NerosFiddle · 18/06/2020 15:17

Fluffy can you pass some over here. It's so muggy. Needs a good downpour to clear the air

KVlovesWinter · 18/06/2020 15:30

Fluffy I'm the North East in Newcastle we've had a couple of weeks with a lot of rain but this week just cloud with the odd spell of sun.

Not long back from our walk the sun is trying to get out now. Think we are forecast rain for later this evening. The garden does need the rain but I need the fences to dry out to paint them.

Ds has gone to play on the Xbox so I'm sitting having a cup of tea in peace 😀

FireflyGirl · 18/06/2020 15:31

It's been drizzly all day here, but we're exhausted, so having a quiet day playing cars and reading snuggled up on the couch. I'm going to put the TV on soon.

We've been sat in the living room looking out the patio doors at the birds pinching raspberries off the canes just outside Grin

DS has moved on from his 'pyjama day' stage, and now puts on jeans and a vest. DH is calling it his 'Bruce Willis' stage Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 18/06/2020 16:56

It's pitch bloody black here! I can barely see. 😂

I'll will the rain your way, Neros!
