Afternoon.

Here we go again! It feels slightly bonkers setting off again before today is over, but it's tradition, so who am I to argue?!

Morning!

I hurt. Like, really hurt. I struggled to sleep because I hurt. Oops! At least I'm back on plot 1 next time which is easier going (other than the hours of squats while weeding!).

Mrs, I concur re the house. Your DD should befriend the agents and get to be first to hear about houses. She'll get something in the end!

I drank a whole bottle of wine, Firefly. Plus another glass. Oops. I'm a touch dehydrated now!

It's raining today. It was the best choice to allotment yesterday! Though I do need to weed the drive at some point today. That's a 10-15 minute job though. If it dries off I'll sort my gardening stores and wash my pots too.

Two of my smaller poly greenhouses need new covers. I'm toying with the idea of just buying one of those bigger, walk in, poly ones instead as it won't be much more money. 🤔🤔🤔 It'll work better for cucumber and tomatoes if I do!

Em, your plan for the allotment sounds great. I like the wildlife section idea.

Oh dear fluffy! Getting out in that wind will help you today Grin I'm going to do a kettlebell work out today. Still have washing coming out of my ears so told ds I couldn't watch his football but now I feel bad

EmrysAtticus · 12/01/2020 08:35

It is tipping it down here and I feel as though I am coming down with the chest infection so might go to the garden centre rather than the allotment and just continue my planning :)

FireflyGirl · 12/01/2020 08:41

Fluffy I had this one and was really pleased with it. We used silicone to seal the poles together, and pegged it down with Marquee pegs. The only problem we had was because it was so lightweight, and the cover was attached to the shelves, if it was really windy the whole thing shook, so the shelves shook everything off, even though we weighted them down.

NoWordForFluffy · 12/01/2020 08:49

Yes, flouncy, that's the type of thing. Firefly's is cheaper though.

We have a range of poly ones so the wind issue is well known to us! 😂

We'd put the shelves from the discarded small ones in the big one, so they wouldn't go to waste entirely. It would render part of our washing line unusable though, so I need to go out with a tape measure to see what's what! Not yet though. ☔️

NoWordForFluffy · 12/01/2020 08:53

Em, yeah, don't introduce yourself to the world of allotmenting in this weather (though at some point you will find yourself on your plot, top-to-toe in waterproofs, doing something or other)!

PJMasksGhekko · 12/01/2020 09:20

Morning!!

Sunny here, but was wet and windy last night, and going to be like that tomorrow evening too.

Got to pop Asda for DD1, she needs a clear pencil case, she has tests at school this week and they will determine which sets she's in, her maths teacher says she could go to set 1 Grin

EmrysAtticus · 12/01/2020 09:26

Hmm now we have blue sky. Perhaps we can make it out this afternoon. Will make DH do the heavy lifting as really not feeling great.

EmrysAtticus · 12/01/2020 11:17

In the garden centre and found everything we were after :)

Good stuff! It's exciting starting out. Grin

WreckTangled · 12/01/2020 13:42

Poor ds has a horrible cold. He can't breath through his mouth.

I've done the kettlebell workout and yoga plus some washing. I now need to fold loads of washing but also just want to read my book

I think I'll just do soup for dinner tonight then I can have left overs for lunch. Ds could do with some veg too I reckon.

Mrsmadevans · 12/01/2020 14:47

Afternoon everyone, beautiful day here Smile
We went to Cardiff and picked up DD2 , she had a wedding yesterday and stayed in hotel overnight. She had a whale of a time Grin
Fanny we took the opportunity while we were in the area of looking at Pontprennau , it's very nice there and contrary to our thinking not too far from the city centre. They also have a park and ride just down the road from there so if she wanted to she could take the bus or the car . We were very pleasantly surprised .
So we are extending the area to look in and hopefully we will be able to sort her out Smile
We managed to get to see 4 sofa places in Cardiff but none took my eye Hmm back to the drawing board Smile
Wreck l hope your DS feels better soon m'dear lots of cuddles with Mummy & Daddy and hot drinks Brew always makes them feel better , bless him Smile
Hope everyone is enjoying their afternoon .

EmrysAtticus · 12/01/2020 14:56

Glad you had a productive trip Mrs :)

Managed to plant the asparagus and rhubarb. Now watching Waterloo Road in bed before taking DS to a party.

That's why I'm convinced R-Cat is not really a cat - he loves having his tummy rubbed! And his tail is very expressive. People who have normal cats are very wary of him when he starts flicking it around, but it generally means he wants attention!

FireflyGirl · 12/01/2020 18:10

Although he's technically DH's cat, he's a proper mummy's boy Grin

You can see his tail going 😂

Grin gorgeous cat Wreck
Ours lie in an arch with an I dare you look in their eyes , any attempt to touch The Belly would be severely and swiftly reprimanded .

Our male cat whirls his tail round like a propeller in the garden as he threatens the birds with his mighty panther-esque being.

I bought about 5 tops for my DS (H&M and TopMan) he's at University so doesn't need smart clothes and has a uniform for his P/T work.

Resisted the coats Grin

Mrsmadevans · 12/01/2020 18:29

@70isaLimitNotaTarget WELL DONE m'dear Grin
@WreckTangled , can your boy get any more gorgeous ? Smile
Same goes for your beautiful tiger too @FireflyGirl just darlings Smile
@flouncyfanny not really got any indie retailers near me unless they are really expensive unfortunately but l will look around definitely . Thank you re DD2 we are looking in a larger area now , Pontprennau is lovely and now DD2 has seen a bit of sense we will hopefully find her a place Grin

CrazyBaubles · 12/01/2020 22:38

Quick check in from me as I haven't had a chance to read through properly.

Fluffy it sounds like you accomplished lots but rest up!!

Lovely cute pics of cats - I'm more a dog person myself because my dm is terrified of cats and I don't really understand cat language.
My friend who has 2 cats told me you don't own a cat, you simply hope you spoil them enough that they're willing to put up with you 😂

This weekend has passed by in a flash. DH and I wasted most of Saturday by bickering then he went out (pre-planned) and my friend came for a few hours. I spent a very exciting Saturday night cleaning, cross stitching and batch cooking pasta sauce and soup.
Today has been a very long brisk walk with ddog2, housework, taking pics of things we need to sell (am on a huge decluttering spree) and researching vitamins (I take some but unsure if they are helping), then bowling for dsis birthday (9 adults, 5 children ages 2-9). It was utter chaos and made me appreciate my quiet house Xmas Smile

I hope everyone who was under the weather is feeling better. I will read through properly tomorrow 👋
