Highland Hampers

Thought I'd start a thread over here as to not overrun the bargain thread.

I have ordered two. One being diabetic, I will admit I did think it a bit strange that there were no individual diabetic items on the site. Saying that, I am crossing my fingers hoping it will arrive.

If anyone has any updates, refund actually back in back/orders received 🤞 please post here.

No Xmas hampers were posted. There's a lady who posted yesterday on FB saying how her hamper exceeded her expectations and people have taken that to mean it was an Xmas hamper. I recall her posting a few days ago though and, when questioned, she received the hamper a few weeks ago and wasn't a mystery hamper at a bargain price.

Tiggles · 13/12/2019 11:13

Unrequested refund arrived yesterday, but my bank were on the case to investigate if it hadn't.

TheGriffle · 13/12/2019 12:24

All three of my refunds have now been received and alternative presents sorted. Phew!

IdleBet · 13/12/2019 12:28

I was refunded today. It's bonkers.

torthecatlady · 13/12/2019 12:59

My credit card was refunded yesterday, although I hadn't requested it. I'm dying to know what their plan was.

Heatherlea10 · 13/12/2019 15:05

All the posts disappeared off FB and haven't re-appeared as yet.

Heatherlea10 · 13/12/2019 15:06

I meant to say that the posts disappeared from FB about an hour ago.

They deserve to be locked up for this scam

It must be the worst scam in history, keeping everyone fully updated by email then providing full refunds 😂. I think they realised when so many people used the 40% off that they couldn't fulfil all of those orders without making a massive loss so refunded. If they've used this as a ploy to get an interest free loan for a month then good luck to them. Can't help admiring their entrepreneurial spirit really. Well worth the £12 for the entertainment this has provided.

Fuckingfuckssake · 14/12/2019 11:02

But they weren't keeping everyone updated? They were just lying on a regular basis, they "updated" about having sent out over 50% of the hampers on Thursday the 5th, and continued to dispatch over Friday, Monday and Tuesday before taking the "difficult decision" on Tuesday night to cease trading. And yet people continue to believe that they were acting in good faith. The mind boggles.

cccameron · 14/12/2019 11:19

I'm not sure it matters if they were acting in good faith or not really. We thought we were getting a massive bargain, we didn't, we got our money back. No one died. I really don't understand the furore about it. I work in fraud though dealing with people who have lost hundreds of thousands of pounds they will never get back so paying £12 for a hamper then getting my money back a few weeks later doesn't even register.

LazyDaisey · 14/12/2019 11:45

I can appreciate it doesn’t register for you cccameron, but maybe you can empathise with those who ordered more than one hamper, are on limited budgets, can’t get out to the shops due to disability or simply... there’s very little time to source and mail out another hamper?

Mistressiggi · 14/12/2019 12:24

There were people on fb who had believed them that they could ship a hamper of Scottish goods to relatives in Australia. How would they get an alternative present out? People ordered well before the "cut price hampers" time, and still got nothing. Stop giving them the benefit of the doubt. And do I want a free loan to go to a drug dealer? No. The big mystery for me is what they actually did with the stock they ordered, have they rolled back down to Swansea twice the size they were when they came up?
If this wee shit has "achieved" so much by 19, I do wonder what he'll do before he's 30 (and how many years he will get for it).

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 14/12/2019 12:51

"Well worth the £12 for the entertainment this has provided."

Oh yes, that's the spirit of Christmas right there. A nice feeling of Yuletide schadenfreude. Hmm

Never mind that people have lost money and been inconvenienced, as long as you're entertained by it all, that's all that matters. If it doesn't register with you that people may be on limited budgets and are stressed waiting for refunds.. Talk about self centred.

I actually haven't been affected by this personally (and have also worked with high net worth individuals/companies, who wouldn't have even noticed losing hundreds of thousands) but I'm not a twat who is entertained by the misfortune and disappointment of others.

Wonka77 · 14/12/2019 13:48

Glad you’ve been entertained @cccameron. Sounds like the fraud industry is in safe hands with you on the case. I found out on Thursday that one of the hamper suppliers owed money for 3 orders is a charity. Pretty low imo but perhaps for @cccameron, charity begins at home and everyone is fair game? It’s your attitude that the fraudsters are relying on to avoid further investigation. So give yourself a £12 pat on the back whilst others keep fighting the good fight. And I know that Messrs Smith and Naaif are by now well aware of this thread.

This happened years ago with a company in Norfolk too. Amazed anyone trusts these too good to be true offers.

starrynight19 · 14/12/2019 13:54

wonka I have reported them and hopefully others will have done to.
I am saddened to hear they have storm from a charity. Despicable people let’s hope karma finds a way of giving them what they deserve.
Am pleased they have found this thread I hope lots of people from their Facebook page have to. Must be terrible they can’t censor this like they did on their Facebook page. Hmm

starrynight19 · 14/12/2019 13:55

Stolen

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 14/12/2019 14:03

Actually Cccameron it appears from the Christmas thread quite a few people are still waiting for refunds and have had to contact their banks etc. Then too the company also owe money to their suppliers who have been left out of pocket - £1000s in a few cases. A small business posted on the other thread to say they were owed money and didn't expect to get it back.

(And I don't believe I actually called you a twat, did I? I said I'm not a twat. You can of course believe your attitude is fine and I am a twat for taking issue with it. I'm sure people reading this thread can form their own opinions on peoples levels of twattery.)

Hohonoshow · 14/12/2019 14:51

How has no one lost money? Suppliers are waiting. I only have one to replace but that will still involve going out next week to shop for a replacement gift - which will cost more than the £20 my hamper would cost, at this late stage. I'm lucky I don't need to post mine but those who do will spend more on delivery than they'd planned. I've a very poorly child at the moment and thought my shopping was sewn up, but no.

CheekyFucker · 14/12/2019 18:34

On a scale of 1-10 of sheer twattery, @cccameron is well up there.

It needs to be said.

YuleAreBeingUnREASTIEable · 14/12/2019 20:09

I think the issue is not just having to resource a gift after being refunded but also the principle that your money may have unwittingly been used to fund illegal business dealings. I didn’t buy a hamper but if I had that would really bother me.

Spartonian · 15/12/2019 17:31

It's also the about lies everyone got told, 50% of hampers had been shipped yet no one ever reported receiving one and then everyone got refunded.
What about the hampers that had already been posted, where did they go? (They can't of ever been posted)
What about the suppliers that never got paid?

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 16/12/2019 20:45

And if they got stock in what happened to it?

Hohonoshow · 17/12/2019 08:47

They ate it. So now Ryan and his mates aren't just selfish wankers, they are fat selfish wankers.
