Thought I'd start a thread over here as to not overrun the bargain thread.

I have ordered two. One being diabetic, I will admit I did think it a bit strange that there were no individual diabetic items on the site. Saying that, I am crossing my fingers hoping it will arrive.

If anyone has any updates, refund actually back in back/orders received 🤞 please post here.

^ Just to clarify I did report to Action Fraud along with lots of other homeowners I knew - it was a couple of years ago . They treated each crime individually and were useless imo. No coordination at all. Just be prepared to report and not hear any follow up even if you chase. It’s all intelligence led service - they didn’t actually visit the crime scene(s) where they stole/ intercepted all the post! They are centralised and not a typical policing service.

Whyisitsodifficult · 11/12/2019 21:27

@starrynight19 I paid by debit card as well. Do I go straight to my card provider or did HGC refund you?

starrynight19 · 11/12/2019 21:32

No I got a refund from HGC , it’s all so odd though and doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason how or who is getting a refund.

imnottoofussed · 11/12/2019 21:33

How do I contact them? I didn't get a confirmation email/order number or anything but the money definitely went out of my bank. No refund received as of yet.

passremarkable · 11/12/2019 22:04

Wow, I got a refund today. Didn't expect that...

noodledoodler · 11/12/2019 22:40

I am strangely sorry they didn't get caught halfway to the caymen islands with my ill gotten £12

LazyDaisey · 11/12/2019 22:47

@stormsurfer I don’t think you did anything wrong. I couldn’t find who actually shared the first link but someone in thread 9 asked if anyone ordered the hampers from a few threads back. I suspected something wrong when a 3 person company was somehow able to not only deal with mumsnet influx orders but all on the back of a code slashing their price so much. I remembered way back when the naked marshmallow company - another teeny business started by a couple of young guys - got overwhelmed by orders from one of these bargain threads. This never made any sense. But in a very bizarre, niggling way.

Leflic · 11/12/2019 22:53

Does anyone but me feel we’ve been a bit xenophobic? Highland Gifts sounds safe if a bit cheesey. Why did we all feel underpriced Scottish hampers were legit.

Had they called themselves anything English (unless it was Cotswold Hampers or Lake District Hampers perhaps) they wouldn’t have got half the trade,

stormsurfer · 11/12/2019 22:56

Thanks @PinkJam and @LazyDaisey

Bauble74 · 11/12/2019 22:57

I ordered 2 hampers, thought I would see what happens and have not made contact with them. They refunded my bank today, very weird!

stormsurfer · 11/12/2019 22:59

@Leflic in my case, no. They were attractive to me because I am Scottish and I wanted to send Scottish products to my family in England.

stormsurfer · 11/12/2019 23:01

@Wonka77 I'm sorry you have lost so much in this scam. I hope you get at least some back.

gaggiagirl · 11/12/2019 23:13

obanchocolate.co.uk/ pretty sure that's wonka77s shop.

Leflic · 11/12/2019 23:18

stormsurfer which is also why I bought them! I felt them more authentic my family live there.
However I also have family in Battersea and no way would I buy a cheap hamper there.

Mistressiggi · 11/12/2019 23:58

I'm in Scotland so possibly thought it was less of a risk as I could call round to see them (sort of), but now I believe they/he are in Wales! I didn't order some ridiculously priced stuff either, I ordered a hamper for £20 which sounded like it would have £25 of stuff in it (if bought separately, no trade discount) and some other bits that were a normal price.

Mistressiggi · 11/12/2019 23:59

It wasn't a mystery hamper either, the contents were listed. Still, all hypothetical now.
My bank has refunded me by the way.

Renovirgin2018 · 12/12/2019 06:33

I have had my refund in the bank today.

OutnumberedByFurchesters · 12/12/2019 06:56

I also have my refund now. 👍

YuleAreBeingUnREASTIEable · 12/12/2019 07:04

@Wonka77 I’m so sorry to hear all the probs. I’d be happy to buy a box of your chocs at the next opportunity I have to buy chocs (must resist for Christmas, have enough already!). I’m assuming it’s Oban chocolates but do feel free to pm me or put the company here.

Floopsy · 12/12/2019 07:19

I've reported to Action Fraud, doubt much will happen but I hope @Wonka77 might be able to start proceedings against him. Would the reporting of the business activity to Action Fraud be enough to demonstrate that he has not acted in accordance with his responsibilities as a Company Director? Would he then be personally liable for any losses incurred? Good luck Wonka
FYI, if you google Ryan Naaif (as listed on the Companies House listing for HGC) it takes you to an instagram page. There he is linked to a painting and decorating company in Swansea, the painting and decorating company has a mobile number for a 'Ryan'.

Floopsy · 12/12/2019 07:20

BTW, @Wonka77 - The Oban Chocolates in the hamper were what sold it to me. A relative has had a hard time this but had an amazing holiday in Scotland and loves Oban - I thought the Oban chocs would be a nice gift for them.

Notlongnow1 · 12/12/2019 07:45

No refund here yet...

Toomanycats99 · 12/12/2019 07:48

@Floopsy

Reporting to action fraud to me was enough to get my refund after weeks of failed promises. I think the fact that action fraud collate and report to police takes it up a step which hopefully they are keen to avoid.....his comment was I would now be prosecuted for wasting police time (!) as he had now refunded me so it was definitely a deterrent for him.

NotYourHolidayDick · 12/12/2019 08:06

This is his decorating business in Swansea. Do with it as you wish 😁
