I see some folk on fb are requesting money back from Highland Gift company. I'm going to wait - I can see it genuinely taking a day to send the stuff down from Fort William to Glasgow, and then DPD need to do their slow stuff... the company are new though and the director appears to be 19, though hopefully he's just a future-Alan-Sugar type rather than a future robber. I think they might have bitten off a bit more than they can chew.

Am more worried about some Lego I thought I bought from Europe but is being shipped from China - zero chance of that being genuine I'm sure!

Not looking good for the hampers. They are claiming to have sent 50% of orders but not one person actually saying they've received anything. Someone on Facebook claiming to have done some digging and the company "director" is allegedly a convicted drug dealer who fled his rental property owing money in the last 2 weeks.

Owner of Oban chocolate company is owed £600 and has written "The games up Nate" on their page.

They've switched the phone line off and removed their email address from their page. Ffs, I ordered 3

Regarding the hampers, is it best for everyone to contact their bank, credit card company or Paypal and cancel? Is it definitely dodgy?

What non-school bags do young teen girls use these days? Mini rucksacks? Are those the popular thing? Or a small cross body/shoulder strap bag? I can’t bring myself to buy a bumbag (and I think she’d hate it anyway) no matter how cool they are. Just want something for her to use when she’s out and about with her friends. She has a lovely wee bag from Fatface which she uses a lot but thought it would be nice to get something a bit more grown up. Any ideas?

@Mistressiggi we ordered some duplo copy marble run. I knew it's fake Lego but when it arrived all the texts on the box were in Chinese. I hope the recipients mum doesn't mind.

If even one person had had confirmation from DPD I'd be more inclined to believe them, I've spoken to my bank and received a refund, I paid via debit card.

They are frantically deleting comments but I've just read the newspaper article about his conviction and I'm inclined to believe the chocolate company owner

I had a look on the Highland Gift Company website when it was posted on here. I thought the website looked amateurish - the photos were terrible stock photos and the prices too good to be true. I didn’t think it looked like a reputable company so didn’t order. I’m glad I didn’t now. Sorry for those that got conned .... easy to be taken in while hunting for a bargain. I’m very suspicious and I almost succumbed!

I bet the owners are jetting off somewhere sunny for Christmas.

Oh no, I ordered 2 hampers by debit card. What are the chances of getting a refund? Would it be best to contact bank direct?

@christmassymcchristmas oh my, on license?! What for? Just gets worse. Hope they get caught, but knowing the state of our police service they probably won’t get their comeuppance.

Don’t feel bad about being taken in. It was a very elaborate scam. It’s just a shame that this thread generated so much more business for them.

Just contact your bank for a chargeback, as long as it's been more than 15 days you can claim.

No idea why I didn't check him out before I bought, I usually do. Just got swept away by the thread. Oh well, if you paid by debit card you've 120 days to claim it back from your bank.

And I've every faith they'll get prosecuted for it. He's a just 19 year old who thinks he's a master criminal. Luckily fraud and deception carries a heftier sentence than supplying drugs
