How many days off do you get?

I'm off 21st to 2nd Jan, so 12 days off including the weekends, I think it's my longest break yet (had to take 5 holiday days though). January will be depressing though, no days off again until Easter! Gin

I've given myself the same. But that was easy to do... I'm self employed and have simply told all enquiring customers I was already 'fully booked'. They don't need to know I'm fully booked with having a bit of time off! I have worked over Christmas/New Year in the past and may well do again in the future, it can be a very good earner. But I'm tired and need a break.

Just Christmas Day Angry

Sotiredsomuch · 28/11/2019 19:33

Finish on the 24th and hopefully not back until the 6th! No holidays required Grin

thenightsky · 28/11/2019 19:35

Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Then just NY day.

GaaaaarlicBread · 28/11/2019 19:35

I get Christmas and Boxing Day off , then New Years day (I work for the NHS)

Ragwort · 28/11/2019 19:35

None officially Grin, I have a part time contract so I need to book Bank Holidays off, I manage a small shop so in theory I could open Christmas Day if I wanted to Grin. I will plan my working hours so that I am not working Christmas Day or Boxing Day ... my DH ‘has’ to take off all the days between Christmas and New Year which he really doesn’t want to do.

Mummyme87 · 28/11/2019 19:37

I’m working a night 23rd, an early Christmas Day (7.30am-3pm) then not back until long day (7.30am-8.30pm) 31st and 2nd. I’m NHS part time

MadameJosephine · 28/11/2019 19:37

This year I’ve got both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day off so I’m delighted, I don’t usually get both.

Silentlysinking101 · 28/11/2019 19:39

None unless I take annual leave and am not in NHS.

lljkk · 28/11/2019 19:40

FTmers are off 25th, 26th & NY day only. I have 2.5 days to take by end of January & not sure when...

healthylifestylee · 28/11/2019 19:43

Another nhs worker
Xmas day
Boxing Day
New Year's Day

Very hard to take leave in time as well

So we have to fit in visiting everyone in the two days and the weekend. Not sure when I get so sit and actually enjoy my Christmas and do what I want but hey as long as the NHS is ticking over still that's great.

CosmoK · 28/11/2019 19:44

I'm so, so, so lucky. I work for a university. We shut on the 20th and reopen on 2nd. We just get the days as additional leave. One of the reasons I'll never leave!!

healthylifestylee · 28/11/2019 19:44

And no I'm not bitter about it 😂
If I didn't love what I do I'd quit.
And if patients seemed at all grateful it would be fine.
But I get yelled at weekly down the phone 😂 so I think I'm allowed to be bitter over a days annual leave

Alarae · 28/11/2019 19:48

Finish on 20th, go back on 2nd.

24th is a half day and 27th is an office closure, so we effectively get an extra day and a half holiday this year.

bellalou1234 · 28/11/2019 19:56

Just christmas eve, I'm on night shift chritmas day, boxing day, 27th and 28th and back in nye. I feel I've been shafted at work, I only found out this week. I was off chritmas day boxing day and was so happy. No I am the grinch.

bellalou1234 · 28/11/2019 19:59

My work have messed me around. I was off Christmas day and boxing day. Now I'm night shift for next 8 weeks, working Christmas night, boxing night, 27th and 28th, then back in nye. I'm so fed up.

livingthegoodlife · 28/11/2019 20:00

I've taken annual leave so I'm off 23rd - 4th. Our seasonal work means not much work over Xmas so annual leave is easy. Not very easy in the summer though!

Star2015 · 28/11/2019 20:05

I break up midday 23rd December and Im back on 2nd January - lucky for me it’s the lowest tier of public sector and I don’t have to take any holiday we’re just closed for that period.

Thanks to all the NHS staff (and others) who work over the Christmas period xx

Zenithbear · 28/11/2019 20:05

We're both off 20th December - 6th January. Because we work part-time only needed to book one day off.

showmethegin · 28/11/2019 20:07

Finish on the 19th Dec then go back 13th Jan. wahheyyyy!

MinisterforCheekyFuckery · 28/11/2019 20:08

I work in a secondary school so I get two weeks off. I finish on the 19th and go back on the 6th of January. I can't wait!

glitterysocks · 28/11/2019 20:12

Emergency services but not a front line role atm.
I've got the 20th- 6th off then I've got 5 days leave left from this year so I'm taking that til the 13th.

I'll be on phone cover from the 23rd through to the 29th though

Lulu1919 · 28/11/2019 20:15

Three weeks
Unpaid
TA in a school

Serin · 28/11/2019 20:15

NHS.
Pleased to have Xmas day and NYD off.
Dh is off for 2 weeks.

WalkAwaySugarbear · 28/11/2019 20:19

Finish on 20th back on 6th, company shutdown, not taken out of holiday entitlements. We get standard 20 +8 days but this close down adds plenty more.
I'm very grateful after years of working in retail where we had to battle for some time off over the Christmas period.
