Morning!

New thread for the new day. Temperature is starting to drop again and it's going to be rather chilly for the weekend and the start of December!

Let's see if we need thread 9 or not! Xmas Grin

Nice hair Biddy

My tree was about 7ft but very bushy! I took DS with me (who is 6'4 ish) so got the scale wrong! DGD seems fascinated by it - although dH is doing his Scrooge impression!

BiddyPop · 10/12/2019 13:21

That was me trying (badly) to get a top of the head shot this morning. Christmas haircut was last night, DH is not terribly impressed, but I do it every couple of years!! Xmas Grin I am actually thinking about getting some purple for after Christmas before the peroxided bits grow out....there is plenty of grey showing up in it these days!

Good luck Firefly that looks like a great spread!

I'm off out in the rain to get chocolate coins (I hope) - the Cubs who are leaving have planned a "James Bond Casino" theme for the Christmas party on Saturday....I love their enthusiasm, just hate the reality of making it happen! (Apparently, I am supposed to wear a cocktail type dress as well!! Hah!!)

Hi everyone, sorry I was off for a few days. DS1 was in hospital, it turns out his cough was bronchitis. We are on the mend now so hopefully able to enjoy the Christmas period

WreckTangled · 10/12/2019 16:23

The weather is awful here. So wet and windy. Ds has his school play tonight it. Two of three and we're watching tonight.

My grandad leant me a book for jury service and I can't put it down. I just want to ignore the dc and read Xmas Grin had to stop to start an early dinner though.

DS2 sorry, not DS1

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 10/12/2019 20:11

Well done to your DH for seeing sense sensing that he may be shortly patioised flouncy!

What book is it Wreck?

Firefly, that looks amazing. Did you sell it afterwards?

Biddy, love the hair! Flouncy, your colour is lovely, is it natural (I have a fair amount of grey and I'm younger than you!)?

Constantly, I think tree width scuppers many people. Maybe take a tiny person next year?! 🎄🎄

Fluffy it's the girl with all the gifts. I know it's a film too but I don't like scary films so will never watch it Xmas Grin

JoGose · 10/12/2019 21:23

wreck I love that book!

Have you all got your presents sorted? I thought I had it all done but now I don’t know if I have enough. I’m worried I’m behind time

WreckTangled · 10/12/2019 21:50

I still haven't got anything for my brother. No idea what to get him, got him an amazon voucher for his birthday last month. He's 22 and a farmer. Just works and that's it.

JoGose · 10/12/2019 22:32

wreck is there anything you could get him to help with his work? Would he like that or would he rather not have anything to do with work.

I’m only buying for the kids, DM and DGM. It’s a cheap year this year.

FireflyGirl · 10/12/2019 23:32

The awards were after I left for the day, so I won't know until tomorrow who won.

They sold all the baking entries afterwards. I had a mediocre brownie, a gorgeous cranberry and almond cookie and something that I don't know what it was - like two hazelnut cookies stuck together with chocolate. It was amazing - I need to ask for the recipe!

We did rather well, raised over £450 just in the firm. The partners topped it up to £700, and it's going to a local charity that helps women and children fleeing domestic violence for them to buy toys for the kids.

Our building was purpose built for the firm about 25 years ago, but there are fewer admin staff now so there's half a floor we don't use. They let a (different) local charity use it rent free as a base. It's hard to explain, but rather than what you would traditionally think of as what a charity does, they provide business/admin support & advice to small, mostly local, charities who may not have the funds/staff to do it themselves.

WreckTangled · 11/12/2019 06:56

That's all a amazing firefly Smile

I don't know what to get my brother at all. There's nothing I could get him to do with his job and he doesn't do much outside of his job either. Plus he probably has more money than me and my parents still pay for his present to me Hmm

Work today. Hopefully I can finish my book Grin

Morning!

That sounds really good, Firefly! And I love the charity base idea.

We have fewer admin people now. We do most ourselves!

Half day today as it's DD's Christmas concert later. Can't wait!

JoGose · 11/12/2019 10:53

Morning!

That’s amazing firefly!

wreck that is difficult. I find men really hard to buy for:

fluffy I hope the concert goes well!

DS1 has his nativity today, I can’t wait to see him! DD1 has her Christmas carol service on Friday so it’s a hectic week

TheWoollybacksWife · 11/12/2019 16:19

Very Xmas Envy of the nativities and Christmas concerts.

Sorry Wreck no present ideas

Excellent fundraising Firefly

DD2 passed her driving test this morning despite it being affected by a huge crash on one of the busy A roads and has now driven to work this evening 😱.

Hope MrsMad is just busy with festive nonsense.

Yay for DD2, Woolly! Xmas Smile It doesn't take much to cause traffic mayhem on the big A roads round there.

DD has to be at church by 5.15 for a 6.00pm performance. DS and I will go in time to get there for 5.50. He'd get bored hanging round! DH can save a seat. 😁

I've got a sore throat / cold brewing. The side of my nose is itchy, so I know some bug or other is on the way.

Mrs, are you OK?

JoGose · 11/12/2019 17:06

wooly Congratulations to your DD!🎉

DS’s nativity has just ended. He did amazing!. He was so nervous this morning because he has to do a solo but he smashed it. I was bawling like a baby. Treated him with a chippy tea tonight.

They’re off school tomorrow for the voting so a Christmas movie day is on the cards. Have any of you watched that Klaus on Netflix? I think that’s an option for us to watch. Fred Claus is a big hit here so we’ll deffo watch that too

Well done to your dd woolly!

We haven't watched klaus yet but will do. We like the Christmas chronicles and the new grinch is on now tv.

stayingaliveisawayoflife · 11/12/2019 18:52

Don't know if anyone is interested but the works is doing 30% off what you buy over £30 and then an extra 20% back with top cash back at the moment.

WreckTangled · 11/12/2019 18:52

Finished my book. Three days it took and didn't neglect the dc too much.
