Morning!

New thread for the new day. Temperature is starting to drop again and it's going to be rather chilly for the weekend and the start of December!

Let's see if we need thread 9 or not! Xmas Grin

I don't know how I am going to put our decorations up this weekend if I can't stop being sick

Also we have been told by our landlord that the rent is going up in August - so we are buying a house and moving - currently due date is July 26th need to be in a new house by August 4th. God help me what am I doing

Mrsmadevans · 28/11/2019 16:55

Good news Smile . Mum's CRP level continued to decrease so they have let her go home! I have just come back from taking her home and sorting her out. She is much better thankfully. So it has been a week in total from start to finish. Thank you all for the kind words and support it means a lot to me Flowers Smile

EmrysAtticus · 28/11/2019 17:45

Thanks for the new thread and thank you for all the lovely messages :)

So glad your mum is feeling better Mrs

Our decs will go up this weekend. Poor little DCat who has gone would have climbed the tree and knocked all the baubles off but out two remaining ones are too mature and dignified for such things.

WreckTangled · 28/11/2019 17:59

I've remembered what it is. It's my mascara Grin very exciting indeed.

Dd had her first piano exam today. Will let you know how she got on once we get the results through

Mrsmadevans · 28/11/2019 18:09

Ohhh Wreck Good luck to DD I am sure she will do brilliantly Smile

Am not sure Mascara is exciting enough Xmas Grin but DD piano exam has made up for it Xmas Grin

Poor little cat Sad but honestly l am sure the others will help you and give you some comfort bless them Flowers

WreckTangled · 28/11/2019 19:16

I've just read some of the North Pole breakfast thread. I won't do it because I can't afford it within my strict food budget but people are so pathetically mean and superior about it. So what if someone wants to do a nice breakfast?! I always get the advent calendars and room decs out ready to surprise the dc in the morning of the 1st December it's just a nice thing to do!

NerosFiddle · 28/11/2019 19:18

Evening all.

Mrs glad you dm is doing well.

It'll be an early night here as tomorrow I have to go and look at schools for DS for next year. I can't believe that it's happening already.

Dh doesn't want to put the decs up until after dd's birthday which isn't until 18th. No way is this happening!

NerosFiddle · 28/11/2019 19:20

Wreck some people can be so mean and just for the sake of it. I live by if it doesn't affect me and doesn't hurt anybody then live and let live.

EmrysAtticus · 28/11/2019 19:39

Ooh exciting Nero! We are visiting our last school tomorrow before having to make the decision. How can my baby be almost ready to start school?!

WreckTangled · 28/11/2019 19:43

We didn't look at any schools we just went for catchment. I don't know anyone round here who's not got into their first choice.

Mrsmadevans · 28/11/2019 19:48

I haven't been on the thread Wreck but if my DC were of an age to do it then l would be there like a rat up a drainpipe Xmas Grin Take no notice of the misery guts Xmas Grin
Nero, thank you m'dear and schools! Oh GOD THAT TAKES ME BACK!
I think you will enjoy having a look tbh , l did . Smile
Is DH a 'bah humbug' or is it because he doesn't want to confuse the Birthday celebs for her , ie he wants to ensure her birthday is still special even though it is so near to Christmas .
Em you too? Wow they grow up so quickly Xmas Smile

Mrsmadevans · 28/11/2019 19:49

We went for catchment too , it was a lovely school so we were very happy Smile

EmrysAtticus · 28/11/2019 20:56

I grew up where you went to your nearest school and that was that. I had no idea how complicated it could get! We have two catchment schools (one Welsh, one English). And they aren't actually the closest schools to us. There are also schools which work better with our work but which are further from our house etc. It's all so complex!

WreckTangled · 28/11/2019 21:06

That does sound very complicated! It's like that in the nearest city to here but otherwise no issues really. Our catchment school is >2 miles away so they run a little bus for the dc who live here. I go to some massive schools for work and wools always pick a smaller one given the choice but do see some benefits in the bigger ones. Also I've received five emails and one sms from school today. They drive me mad Grin

CrazyBaubles · 28/11/2019 21:21

70 years ago when ddog2 was a pup, he frightened himself by trying to take a bauble off the tree. He made the branches shake and because we have baubles with bells in they made a bit of a noise. He hasn't been near the tree since.

🙄 at people kicking off about a North Pole Christmas. I don't have kids so I don't do it but I would! I'll never understand why people sneer at others. I'm mid 30s and on Sunday my dad will call me and my sister early in the morning and play Christmas music down the phone as per our tradition Xmas Grin childish and over the top? Absolutely but I love it.

MrsMad I'm so glad your mum is home! And thank you for liking my posts on the old thread. I wanted to make sure no one posted there and felt ignored because we're all here!

Get writing your cards flouncy

Oh Biddy, definitely rest up as much as you can. Recover 100% so you can enjoy Christmas.

Wreck good luck to your dd, I'm sure she'll do well.
Also, I had a mystery parcel too. It was tiny craft Christmas trees. I remember ordering them but can't for the life of me remember why 🙄

The 18th Neros? Xmas Shock My DH asked for 14th - we've settled on 6th and that was bad enough!

I am just home and about to start my next cross stitch (pic attached)...

HairsprayBabe · 28/11/2019 21:33

Some people just can't bear the thought of others having fun in a way that they don't.

I see it a lot on here, there is a lot of competitive grinchyness -
"oh all my children get is a book, gloves and a packet of reasons"
Followed by
"Gloves? They are a bit of a luxury don't your children have pockets to keep their hands warm - I hope it is a non fiction book because any story book could be enjoyed and I would rather my children read to learn. Raisins are you mad?! You might as well funnel heroin laced with sugar down their throats. My children get a text book a pencil and a donation to a charity that they can choose but they must do a presentation about it to me and DH beforehand so we know they understand why they are donating."

Blah blah blah....

The poor woman who started the thread was literally talking about putting banna and strawberries in the shape of a candy cane, playing some Christmas music and giving her children advent calendars.... How anyone could pick that apart I have no idea Xmas Hmm

NerosFiddle · 28/11/2019 21:44

Atticus good luck to you and your dc.
We have 6 primary schools within a couple of miles of us. 1 of them would be an Irish language school.

Dh isn't normally too much of a grinch but I think he's finding this year harder than normal. We will not be waiting until after 18th though. Dc love Christmas and if the rest of us had it our way the tree would already be up.

NoWordForFluffy · 28/11/2019 22:09

We don't have catchments here. Distance is the decider for many schools, but they'll go as far as necessary until all places are filled. Sometimes it's a couple of miles, sometimes it's barely over one due to number of siblings. We aren't at the nearest school, we're at the one we preferred.

My two are so fussy that a North Pole breakfast wouldn't work. But I've no problem with it!

Mrs, hurrah for your mum being at home now. I bet she's looking forward to her own bed!

I've been doing the Snowman cross stitch number one. I reckon it'll be 1.5 weeks in the making, what with the outline.

Morning!

It's 🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶 today. Lots of twinkly stars in the sky while I was hanging the washing out. ⭐️

DS had a temp of 38.6° last night. I'm hoping he's better this morning. He said he felt fine, but cold. He's very snotty, but we shall see.

Half day today. Woooo! Then I'm going into town when I get back to hopefully get a couple of Christmas party food bits from Iceland. We're almost done except for the fresh stuff now.

Food shopping today then getting a new electricity meter fitted then after school taking ds and his friend to a nerf party Grin
