Morning!

New thread for the new day. Temperature is starting to drop again and it's going to be rather chilly for the weekend and the start of December!

Let's see if we need thread 9 or not! Xmas Grin

He’s a cute bear fluffy, I got DS1 some second hand imaginext stuff too

PhilomenaChristmasPie · 03/12/2019 13:20

Had a cheese and mushroom croissant, a banana and Christmas coffee today. Also just had olives and a whole tub of chicken bites. About to have a Mr Kipling chocolate orange whirl or 2. I think the cold makes me hungry.

DS2 would have been going to a birthday party tomorrow, but he's got a tummy bug. I've already got the card, and the present's being delivered by DPD today, so I'll have to think of how to get it to the girl's mum.

Mrsmadevans · 03/12/2019 14:22

Afternoon all 😁
PSB how is Ds2 he was suffering with his tum the very last going off. Hope that is all sorted now m'dear 🤗
I am all for saving money and the environment Jo.
Fluffy lovely Tedda 🐻🧸🤗
Am sure it will come plenty of time yet 🤗
Lovely Nero, home made sausage rolls yummy 😋
So many DC ill bless them, hope they all feeling better very soon 💐

PhilomenaChristmasPie · 03/12/2019 14:30

We think it's a bug this time Mrs. He's got a bad cough and had a fever last night. Because he had an upset tummy this morning, he can't go back to school until at least Friday.

FireflyGirl · 03/12/2019 15:02

That looks like a Masha and the Bear bear, Fluffy!

Hope your DS is doing better soon, PSB. It's just that time of year, isn't it.

I'm glad DS is ill this week and not next, though. It's his school nativity next week, I can't wait! I'll be the embarrassing mum blubbing all the way through Crown Grin

He's a sheep, and we have to send him in a white T-shirt (fine) and white trousers (WTF?? Where on Earth sells white trousers for 4 year olds?? With less than 2 weeks to find them!!).

TheWoollybacksWife · 03/12/2019 15:21

Would white legging do the job Firefly? Or even thick white tights? I miss nativity plays Xmas Sad my youngest will be a teenager early in the new year.

We have a sheep DS too. We've sent in black pyjama bottoms (which need turning inside out!).

I hope all the poorly DC feel better soonBear

firefly the sheep in the nativity last year wore onesies from what I can remember. But black leggings would be fine too, you can have black sheep 🐑. You’ve just reminded me I need to get DS1’s costume, he’s the donkeyGrin. DD1 doesn’t have a nativity this year as she’s started juniors so they have a carol service which I actually prefer

FireflyGirl · 03/12/2019 16:23

I've ordered some white leggings, thanks everyone. In a larger size, to try and preserve DS's dignity a little Crown Grin

Ds (the shyest boy who didn't speak for the first year of school) is narrator! So pleased we don't need a costume this year. Dd is in yr 5 and they don't do a play.

Right I need quick, easy, cheap meals that are easily adaptable to low carb for next week when I have jury service. Ds also has his school play and DH has to give blood plus there's football training so it'll be a quick turnaround each night. I'll make and freeze bolognese and cottage pie but that's all I've got so far. Oh and they can have pizza one night so need two more ideas.

Thanks flouncy, I pass by Asda on the way home from the school run so I will have a look in.

Aww wreck that’s so sweet, I bet you’re so proud💖. How about a casserole, is that any good?

I’ve finished all my Christmas shopping, it’s cheap as chips so I’m chuffed😀.

Great news, Wreck. You must be so chuffed (I bet his teachers are too!).

I have one nativity on Friday morning (DS) then DD's is on Weds (11th) evening in church. Ours don't normally need a costume, but the sheep are in their PE t-shirts and black bottoms. The school normally provides everything.

Flouncy, I need a full run down of what you buy! 😂

I was going to suggest sausage casserole because that's what we're having for tea.

I don't know much about low carb, sorry, but slow cooker staples here are meatballs in tomato sauce (served over green beans and broccoli for low carb? That's how I have mine, but more because I am trying to up my veggies), chilli (without rice for low carb), keema curry.

Have you ever seen the Roasting Tin books by Rukmini Iyer? They're recipes you can prep in advance then just chuck on a tray in the oven for approx 40 mins, and job's a good'un.

I like Chipotle chicken with sweet potato wedges, I substitute the wings for thighs. You could also sub butternut squash for the sweet potatoes.

This salmon one has no carbs, but you could add some for those who want them. I haven't tried it yet but it looks nice.

Another salmon one.

Leek orzotto.

Ooh, with a big Yorkshire pud sounds nice, but I don't like Aunt Bessie's Crown Shock

DH is hard done by - he just gets it with crusty bread and veggies!

That sounds lush flouncy. Yorkshire’s are one of the only things I can make from scratch.

Mrsmadevans · 03/12/2019 19:12

Oh l love Yorkshire pudding 😋
Glad Ds2 is ok PSB 🤗
Fluffy is it a Christingle service in the Church. I used to love Dds 🤗

WreckTangled · 03/12/2019 19:18

Thanks for the suggestions. Ds wont eat casserole and has decided he doesn't like sausages but might eat a sausage casserole (you never know!) I could do it in the slow cooker...
The leek orzotto sounds so good but can't have the pasta, it's a pain really. Also can't have the spicy chicken thing as ds wont eat spicy stuff but he loves chicken drumsticks so could do something similar... we do eat chilli (minus the beans) so will add that too but that's three mince meals. I wish I had my own chef and didn't have to worry about what I eat!

Ds has to wear a Christmas jumper which he already has and smart trousers which he doesn't have. I sent in some jeans but apparently they're too light Confused so will send school trousers that he doesn't wear anyway as he's still wearing shorts ConfusedGrin

Mrsmadevans · 03/12/2019 19:52

Wreck, what about a gammon ham done in the slo cooker with a mash and a veg of some sort with parsley sauce/sauce of choice . Really easy to assemble and if you had leftovers then oven chips and ham ? You can have Cauliflower cheese too . We have that as a main with Gammon/bacon sometimes . Also what about a mild chicken curry done in the slo cooker would they eat that l wonder.
Firefly, don't worry l am sure l took the first prize for the big fat blubbering Mum in the third row sobbing, EVERY Christmas concert. I was like a blithering idiot. I don't talk about it to anyone Xmas Grin

WreckTangled · 03/12/2019 19:55

Yes gammon is a good one! Thank you. I've not done curry in the slow cooker before I usually use paste and coconut milk but would that be too runny?
