Thread 12 - hampergeddon

Couldn’t resist the title given the chatter about the hampers. Cross fingers they arrive and are fantastic or that refunds are fast and painless.

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

@mamabluestar putting it on ebay within next couple of weeks. It's been out of the box once since Christmas day, been a complete waste of money Angry. I thought it was going to be the highlight of her Christmas last year but she had no interest in it. I suppose it depends what your child's into but certainly would not say its worth £100.

Notlongnow1 · 09/11/2019 13:38

Big mouse little house what about these CHRISTMAS FAKE SNOWBALLS XMAS SNOW BALL FIGHT TREE PLUSH THROWING BATTLE www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07JH877NC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_WdSXDb0F0XCM2 indoor snowballs
Or for something a bit calmer (!) Threading popcorn to make 'snow' garlands

EvilHerbivore · 09/11/2019 13:44

DS2 (6) has been listening to 'Danny the champion of the world' audiobook and is now insistent Santa will bring him a pheasant...anyone any ideas?!

Youvegotafriendinme · 09/11/2019 13:50

Anyone looking to buy Thomas Sabo jewellery, they are having a flash 15% day Monday 11th then the Black Friday offers start on November 24th and run to 2nd December this year. It’s 15% off everything in store (not including gift cards, sun glasses and automatic watches) and a small selection of jewellery with 30% off.

I got my DS the toot toot pirate ship and the buzz light year helmet both for £51 in Argos. Amazing considering the helmet is £64.99 in most places!

The ice cream cart is brilliant. My DN was bought it for her 2nd birthday and still plays with it and she is 6 now. My DS plays with it every time we go over there and I’m currently trying to talk myself out of buying it.

Any suggestions on adult board games? It’s just me and DH at Christmas this year so looking for something the two of us can play.

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 09/11/2019 13:57

@BigmouseLittlehouse How about Pom Pom making? You can buy little makers off eBay for under a fiver

Or the range has polystyrene baubles and stars (with the hanging loop) so you can just paint and glitter?

imsorryiasked · 09/11/2019 14:05

@Youvegotafriendinme Qwirkle was a surprising hit, and Jaipur is easy to play.

mamabluestar · 09/11/2019 14:05

Thanks @Lc2006 I suspect it might it could be the same if I buy one. However if you list it please can you send the link. Thanks

mrsdiddlydoo · 09/11/2019 14:08

@EvilHerbivore what about just more Roald Dahl books or some different audio books like David Walliams ones with a note to say there's a shortage of pheshants or something!

Has anyone seen any good priced big 1000 piece Christmas or winter land jigsaws anywhere?

imsorryiasked · 09/11/2019 14:12

@EvilHerbivore there's a lovely one on Amazon if you search "House of Paws Plush Pheasant" - obvs designed for dogs not kids but we've had many a pet toy over the years Blush

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 09/11/2019 14:16

@TwistedAnkle How did you manage to get all that for £8?! I make it £32 worth.

Is there another code as well as the £10 off one

("Just got face wash, moisturiser, and 2 shampoo bars for £8!!")

imsorryiasked · 09/11/2019 14:20

Someone was looking for boys clothing with scorpion designs?
Just come across this one

SilverLinings2014 · 09/11/2019 14:22

@unkindnessofravens glad it's helped someone Smile
I've been following these threads (and taking advantage of all the bargains for years), but this is the first real bargain I've ever found!

BigmouseLittlehouse · 09/11/2019 14:25

@Notlongnow1 - Grin Id actually just spotted those myself and was pondering how much havoc they would cause! Although thinking could maybe use them for a game

Popcorn threading is a good one! Thanks

Lc2006 · 09/11/2019 14:29

@mamabluestar yes no problem if I get chance I'll do it later today

margaritasbythesea · 09/11/2019 14:34

Well, now I'll have to forgive you PaddingtonBearHardStare. Exceptionally cute! Congratulations!

nickdrakeslovechild · 09/11/2019 14:36

EvilHerbivore We got one from Pets at home, for the dog but it's really cute!

Helssjbells · 09/11/2019 14:41

Hello! Can anyone recommend a really good coffee machine that takes both the pods and ground coffee? DH doesn’t want anything for Christmas, but he can’t survive the day / hour without coffee... budget would be about £200. Should I wait for Black Friday? I’ve had a look at the Amazon deals but you have to trawl through a lot to find what you’re looking for...unless I’m not doing it right! Confused

onedsrightnow · 09/11/2019 14:41

Hope it's not posted already, as seen @theirishbargain on instagram, amazon do a student free trial for 6 months if you have a student email and then its half price per month until you finish being a student. Sorry cant do links!

DreamingofSunshine · 09/11/2019 14:47

Biscuiteers have 15% off their Christmas collection with EARLYBIRD19

I've used them before and are lovely quality, and I've ordered a couple of Christmassy ones for elderly relatives who don't really want anything. Double bonus of having nice post and beautiful biscuits!

wibdib · 09/11/2019 14:48

@EvilHerbivore How good would your ds be at identifying a pheasant vs a partridge? Not sure if they do cuddlies, but Sainsbury’s have got a range of wrapping/card/decorations/etc that has a beautiful partridge in a pear tree design, concentrating more on the partridge than the rest of the rhyme. Not typical kiddy paper but guessing most kids won’t choose pheasants!

woodwaj · 09/11/2019 14:58

Free delivery at cath kidston with code wonder till sunday

Howmanysleepsnow · 09/11/2019 15:01

@wibdib thanks for the recommendations. Will call in to Sainsbury’s to have a look. One of my older dc has labyrinth already and we love it. Blokus is a good call though!

Dogmatix34 · 09/11/2019 15:02

Code GIN takes subscription Birch box down to £5. P&P on top of that though. Has any one tried them before?

Snooky17 · 09/11/2019 15:02

Can I get help from the bargain hive mind please? My DD wants tickets to see Lion King in London for Xmas does anyone have any recommendations to websites etc ?
