Thread 12 - hampergeddon

Reastie · 07/11/2019 06:47

Couldn’t resist the title given the chatter about the hampers. Cross fingers they arrive and are fantastic or that refunds are fast and painless.

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Thanks so much for the LOL tip and the Gruum code - I'm having a great time over here!

imsorryiasked · 09/11/2019 09:45

@unkindnessofravens that advent calendar looks perfect. DS is a few years older than yours but there are numerous Top Trump card sets which were a hit as they have all the facts on them without being in a stuffy book - there are sets on sports cars / super cars / cool cars / hyper cars.
I seem to think the works or maybe amazon did a set of a supercar mug and book in a gift tin.

recklessgran · 09/11/2019 09:45

WOW! We're having thread babies too - Congratulations mummies!

catanddogmake6 · 09/11/2019 09:52

@unkindnessofravens this probably isn’t a Christmas solution and I don’t know where you live but The Children’s Trust run a supercar event at Goodwood. It is a lovely day out and a really worthy cause. I would say rides in the cars are quite expensive depending on your budget but all the money goes to the charity. The drivers do it for free. Even if you don’t get to go in the cars you get to see them up close and doing the track. Just a thought.

recklessgran · 09/11/2019 09:52

A lot of gifts are reduced some to half price on Superdrug. Some decent stocking fillers on there. Free postage over £10 if you sign up.

whereareyousleep · 09/11/2019 09:53

Not Christmas especially but need help my ghd hair straighteners have just broken not good timing when I'm on a strict budget. Anybody seen any good offers on them preferably under £100 doesn't have to be GHD but need to be good at straightening mad curly hair.

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 09/11/2019 09:55

@whereareyousleep I put GHD’s in to camel camel camel last year as DD wanted some. Lowest price before Christmas was about £78 in the end if I recall.

SmallAndFarAway · 09/11/2019 10:02

For the poster wondering about conditioner bars, I had the same question and saw this thread (on phone so apologies for crap link):

AIBU to share my breakthrough with conditioner bars http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/amiibeingunreasonable/3720289-AIBU-to-share-my-breakthrough-with-conditioner-bars

Elphaba17 · 09/11/2019 10:09

How does the Gruum subscription work, can you cancel at any time then?

ipswichwitch · 09/11/2019 10:14

Nip + Fab have a free vit c sheet mask when you buy anything from the vitamin c fix range, using code FREEVITC

margaritasbythesea · 09/11/2019 10:15

Congratulations recklessgran

Nordicwannabe · 09/11/2019 10:15

@FeltCarrot - yes the decorations came with it. There are 20 decorations to hang on little hooks on the tree - 8 little round baubles and 12 slightly bigger ones like snowman, house etc (with slightly hit-and-miss painting, unsurprisingly for the price) - plus a star on top.

PaddingtonBearHardStare · 09/11/2019 10:17

Haha I already had a thread baby in August but I didn't think to mention it Halloween Grin

Alevel · 09/11/2019 10:18

Matalan has the original elf on the shelf £16.99 and three for two. They also have plush elves and other bits in the deal.

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 09/11/2019 10:19

Does anyone have a discount code for Oasis. I have an end of November Wedding to attend. No idea what to wear but I've seen a contender in Oasis. Haven't shopped there in years.

unkindnessofravens · 09/11/2019 10:20

Thanks everyone for the super car ideas, some amazing suggestions! Love this thread!

sleepismysuperpower1 · 09/11/2019 10:43

if anyone is looking for presents for teens (particularly 'vsco girls') there are packs of 20 scrunchies going for £1.99 here

Jacopone · 09/11/2019 10:46

For the poster who is looking for a set of felt xmas tree decorations- try checking TKMaxx I have seen good quality sets of three.

girlsyearapart · 09/11/2019 10:50

Trying to find some really simple colouring pencils or pens with the names of the colours written on for colour blind ds 7.

Think more orange than burnt ochre..

When I google it just gives me pencils with child’s name on

username2020 · 09/11/2019 10:51

Ah FFS - for fudge sake - I think I might get some fudge now....

Anyone got any expedia codes? also I can't see where to add the expedia codes at checkout and the one I had has now expired.

Jacopone · 09/11/2019 10:55

I need your help now. My dd found yest my scrunched up scribled note with a list of all my Xmas shopping (I was sure I’d thrown it away!) and asked what it was. She sure knows what it is.
I know it’ll still be a surprise but much less if they know something from Hollister, UO, Antropologie etc is coming. I’m really deflated.
What do I do now?
Should order something extra, very different perhaps, shouldn’t I?

Raindancer411 · 09/11/2019 10:56

Thanks @nordicwannabe

handmademitlove · 09/11/2019 10:57

@girlsyearapart these crayola colouring pencils have the colours on my DS7 uses them for that reason. The smaller packs have the more basic colours on, larger packs get more interesting colour names! You can usually find them quite cheaply in supermarkets.

imsorryiasked · 09/11/2019 11:00

@girlsyearapart there are some here but more usefully they do mini stickers with colour names on so you can label a "normal" pack of pens.

recklessgran · 09/11/2019 11:02

Ha! Ha! Bless you lot - my last baby was born in 1993 and she was a late one . My shop's been shut for donkeys years!
Sorry for any misunderstanding from my previous post - sadly no more babies for me. I was just getting excited that the thread was having babies as well as all the other lovely things that go on here.
