70 I've seen photos and it looks beautiful! Someday I'm going to come over there and go everywhere I can!

daveghost I'm in Midwest United States. Usually we have a good spring but for some reason this year has been really odd. There's been lots of rumors about a really bad winter with a lot of snow.

I have a weird question even though you all probably haven't been through this. Have any of you taken out a metal door jam before? We have a giant metal 'hump' to get into our house. I CAN do it in my wheelchair but hitting it really hurts and sometimes my chair gets stuck. My dad was talking about maybe taking it out and just wondered if anyone has ever done anything like that?

fanny thanks for the info. I'm not worried too much about the weather coming in. We have a huge overhang and no water sees our front door. But my powerchair is being replaced because of the front caster fell off and they think it's because when I go out the door I come down really hard on the front wheels :( It's tearing up my chairs.

Mrs For now my dad has built a small ramp for the threshold! No worries I won't do anything without my daddy. He built his house and my ramp so he has the knowhow for all this. We'll see how the new little ramp on the big ramp goes for a while

It's the threshold for the screen door not the big front door (they have their own separate frames which is part of the reason the hump is so big) I might consider putting in an entirely new screen door as ours kind of sucks haha.

fluffy I hope you feel better soon!

It's started raining again. It's going to get cold next week at 3 degrees Celsius and we're going to have to turn the heat on soon I think!

WheelchairWoes · 06/10/2019 23:08

Night Mrs! Good luck tomorrow!!

Goodnight to you too fluffy!

DaveTheGhost · 07/10/2019 01:21

wheelie I hope your winter isn’t TOO bad. A little bit of snow is great but not too much.

Goodnight😴 mrs I hope you sleep well, especially if you have to be up early.

It’s 12 degrees here now but feels a lot colder. It’s meant to rain everyday next week, and my car has broke down which means I need to walk to nursery and work next week as it’s getting repaired. I don’t have a good raincoat so I may need to invest. I always find raincoats are great for the autumn and spring but then when it’s bitterly cold I need a big wooly winter coat, and they’re never waterproof!.

I woke up needing a wee and now I can’t get back to sleep!. Oh well, I’m off again to try.

That's stunning, Wreck!

Chucking it down here too. It's meant to clear by this evening and all day tomorrow, so our towels will go on the line later / overnight. And a dark load tomorrow morning. We are slaves to the forecast when it comes to washing. 😂😂

Matalan has some lovely Christmas bedding whoever was asking. Not tacky at all!

Dave, waking for a wee is the bane of my life now I'm post-40. I didn't even have to while pregnant really, so it's new and annoying for me!

I have a nice rain coat (wearing it now). It's a Berghaus Mira Peak. I got a men's one as I'm tall and I struggle with too-short arms on the women's stuff.

If it's cold and wet I just layer up under it!

Wheelie, you can get heavy duty rubber ramps here which may work instead of removing vital bits of doorframe. It would give you a slope instead of the bouncing down. Worth a look?

Not good here this morning. Very cloudy & Misty. Not cold though and we didn't need the heating on last night either. Wreck what a beautiful picture thank you for sharing it with us . Fluffy you have been through a lot this past fortnight. Glad you are getting better and back to normalcy.💐 Totally agree with you re Matalan Christmas duvets l am restraining myself 😁
You are up early Fanny golightly 😁 great advice for Wheelie. My Dd1 suffers from terrible hearing sensitivity and wears foam ear plugs every night. Give them a go once you get used to it, they are a marriage saver😁
Ahh Wheelie your Dad is a hero l know that. He's always had your back. He's a great Dad ❤️. I am sure he will know what to do with the threshold. It is a damn nuisance for you with it ripping up your chairs. They are not cheap!
Dave you're my wife now 😂. My bladder has been shot to pieces since pregnancy/birth. I used to be able to work a whole 12 hr night shift and not go🤔🙄 those days have went 😂
Best shift, Mum to get up early for the workmen 🤗.
Have a great day everyone 😀

This is my sunrise this morning. It was still mostly dark when I left to take DD2 to the station and I took this photo when I got home. The silhouette hides the building site Grin

Woolly oh my God I love it! Thank you for sharing this with us it's gorgeous ❤️
Fanny Golightly you need to shame him into cutting his claws. He's very naughty. Mine is exactly the same. We, me n the Dds, start a shame party every couple of weeks 🤣it works 😂.
Off to Mums for the window man 🤗

Chocolateteabag · 07/10/2019 09:16

Morning everyone - please can I join you?
I'm on the Bargains thread but need a bit more Christmas cheer & warmth over the next few days/weeks

(I'm not looking for sympathy so don't feel you have to acknowledge the following)
DSIS is in hospital after being found collapsed on Friday, she had an emergency op on a bleed on her brain. They have started bringing her out of sedation yesterday and she started making some movement but too early to know what damage has been done. She is early 30's. I'm on my way to up to see her and stay (she's in a hospital in Scotland) and help DM who went up on Friday
Going to be a lot of waiting about so MN threads will be much read

DH is home with my DS's manning the fort - whatever happens over the next few weeks, we nee to have a cracking Christmas fix

DaveTheGhost · 07/10/2019 09:45

Morning all! I’ve had to wait in for a repairman today. The whole house is falling apart! Last week he was over as the toilets leaking and the window in my rook wouldn’t open, this week he’s here to fix the bathroom light, the kitchen light and we have a damp patch in our porch. It always seems to be the way that everything breaks before Christmas. I’m waiting for our annual boiler breakdown in NovemberGrin.

Flouncy have you tried ear plugs? My DF snores like a bear and they’re a godsend for DM. But I’d probably go in the spare bed anyway, then you can sprawl out!.

Wreck beautiful sky! It’s cloudy with a bit of sun here, it’s meant to rain at 2 all the way through the night, just as I’m picking up the boys from nursery!.

Fluffy it was me asking about the bedding, I’ll check Matalan. The boys have double beds but last year I found some covers that looked like they were for kids. That’s the issue with having a double bed for them, they can never have any proper kids covers. I will have a look at that rain coat now, I dropped the kids off in just a hoodie this morning (and trousers too!) and I was chilled to the bone. I’m glad you’re feeling better!

Mrs and Fluffy I had a C-section so I always thought I’d have saved any toilet issues, but nope!. Having twins has ruined my bladder anyway. I’m probably up about 2-3 times a night with it, and I can’t sleep if I need a wee so by the time I finally sleep the boys are usually in with me!.

wooly oh that’s gorgeous!

chocolate I’m sorry to hear about your DsisFlowers

WreckTangled · 07/10/2019 09:50

Chocolate Thanks

So ds' blood results are normalising. Paediatrician wants to discuss next steps with GP who isn't in until next week so will find out more then...

Also the job opening I applied for closes today so hopefully hear something this week

DaveTheGhost · 07/10/2019 10:22

I’ve ordered these for the boys, thank you Fluffy! www.matalan.co.uk/product/detail/s2735425_c47q/ski-christmas-duvet-cover-multi

WheelchairWoes · 07/10/2019 15:10

Good morning friends! It's 10 am and I'm running a bit behind. At 4 am for some reason my Amazon Echo decided to start talking and she woke me up and I had a hard time going back to sleep.

Today we're going to buy pain and paint our hallway a light yellow. We retiled it two months ago and now it's time to paint :)

dave I actually don't mind snow! I'd love a good blizzard! LOL I hope everything breaks asap so that it can get fixed and not get you in a bad spot in the winter. Today we are turning on our furnace to make sure the heat works ok without any problems because it's going to get cold.

fanny Yeah I think I need to get the whole door replaced honestly. It's really rough on my chair and my body. I'm sorry you didn't sleep well :(

wreck Gorgeous sky! But watch out Red in the Morning sailor take warning.

fluffy Ohhh thank you!! I'll see if there's anything like that around here I can buy for the inside! I'll check amazon!

Mrs Ohhhh it might not be nice feeling but that weather looks so Halloween like! Very spooky!

Yeah I can only get a new chair once every 5 years. The one that broke badly is my old chair and we're really lucky it had been 5 years since my other chair was bought. Especially since they also stopped manufacturing parts for my current chair two years ago face palm

woolly WOW! Your sky is magnificent!

Chocolate I am so so sorry to hear about your DSIS. I'm sending you guys all the comforting and healing vibes.

wreck I'm glad to hear about DS's blood results normalizing

We were supposed to have a sunny day today but so far it's looking pretty gloomy. I hope it will clear off a bit later as we have an event this evening, Here's the sky so far!

We are off to get paint! I'll be back later :)

The days are getting shorter; the clocks are going back...let's countdown to Christmas 2019 (thread 6)!
