Thread 5 - The Mumsnet bargain thread - spreading the squeaky clean, ethical love!

So it’s not a thread all about ethical stuff (good grief there’s a lot of plastic tat that’s been purchased by me from these threads over the years) but with our current obsession with soap bars and shampoo bars and then I think it was fireflygirl who did the quote and it tickled me.

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Thanks for number blocks link!

MulberryPeony · 28/09/2019 16:07

Great box of numberblocks there. We’ve thankfully managed to get them with magazines. 11-15 came out earlier in the month.

@eastmidswarwicknightnanny where does the 25% off happen?

Stolenidentity · 28/09/2019 16:12

I've not had my fox scarf either. Totally forgot about it.

Tildero · 28/09/2019 16:14

70% off everything at Gap online only

SushiGo · 28/09/2019 16:34

Those who like the green and blacks taster boxes they were in waitrose for £3.66 today they also had bigger boxes for £7 something and small bags of wrapped dark choc and hazelnut or something caramelised for £2.16 each.

Sorry for vagueness! I didn't buy any.

Thanks for the Whistlefish sale heads up. I just sorted two people in presents.

PinkDaydreams · 28/09/2019 17:06

H&M currently have 20% off for students and you can use the £5 voucher they hand out when you donate clothes. Just got some bargains on kids clothes as it also includes 3 for 2 Grin

Chocolateteabag · 28/09/2019 17:16

@bettyskitchen - I have a referral link on the referral thread for the Craft Gin Club (which no one has used yet) for £20 off your first order or I can PM it to you

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 28/09/2019 17:28

@MulberryPeony go to checkout at top where total is there is a drop down arrow click it and add the code Toby25 in the box.

MulberryPeony · 28/09/2019 17:36

That did it. But no further discount for joining and logging in?

PaddingtonBearHardStare · 28/09/2019 17:42

Weird neighbour has taken in parcel and now not answering door so I am sat here wondering if it's cleansing bars, shampoo bars or tea Grin

CatelynStark · 28/09/2019 18:08

For the last few years, I’ve used Seasalt juke bags as ‘stockings’ for my family - I’ve just checked and they’re doing the usual buy two for £10 on the jute shoppers and buy two for £7 on the ‘cute jute’ smaller ones.

There’s a similar offer on the jute sacks, stocking and wine bags.

It’s not a huge saving but better than nothing plus it’s free UK p&p with code WCM-0PP.

Seasalt

There’s also £10 off a £75 spend, £15 off £100 spend or £25 off £150 if you really, REALLY like jute bags Grin

I was just closing down web pages when I came across the Tomy kiipix at Argos and it was finally in stock again! Finally something for DD. Then I had a brain wave to get one for DN but out of stock again so there must have only been one!

Reastie · 28/09/2019 18:23

Pinkjam id contact your local food bank about what they need as often they will have limited storage facilities and some items they will have lots of. Also re present, in the past the met police have run a children Christmas appeal if you’re near London. Or else Salvation Army do similar via dds school where we buy gifts.

Where do you type in the discount code for the tea offer? There doesn’t seem to be anywhere to add it Confused

Any help is very much appreciated.

DarkHumour · 28/09/2019 18:35

I got it - for those as confused as me, click on order summary once in checkout and there is a space to add the code. Pheww. Looks lovely!

imsorryiasked · 28/09/2019 18:36

@Darkhumor on the check out page click on the show order summary (or something like that) and the box appears half way down the page

Rosie2000 · 28/09/2019 18:39

Not sure if it’s been posted but Topshop have 25% student discount, can be used on sale stuff too. If you have a child in secondary school then they will have an academic email address you can use to sign up to unidays, it’s not just for university students. HTH

Chocolateteabag · 28/09/2019 18:40

Wow @recklessgran - there are some gorgeous things on th Buckley London sales site!

MulberryPeony · 28/09/2019 18:41

@CatelynStark the Christmas jute bags and sacks look gorgeous! Might have to upgrade my current cotton bags...

wibbletooth · 28/09/2019 18:45

I’ve just had a look at the seasalt site and spotted they do canvas shoppers that go over the shoulder as well as the jute bags. Similar size, same designs, base canvas is paler than jute and long handles. Also 2 for a tenner - not sure if you can mix jute and canvas to het a discount but as equally as nice to use as a present bag.

I was also looking on threunsuccessfully for a towelling poncho to get dry and changed under for swimming.

Anybody got any ideas where I might find something? I got one from decathlon - the kids one is nice quality but was too small (ifhealready had it, it would have done another year but too small for buying new. The adult onesswampedhim and the quality was really poor - it had already got pulls and loose threads so they both went back.

Ds is a small 11 yr old - I’ve found lots for smaller kids and some expensive ones for adults but nothing suitable for him. It’s for after swimming lessons so doesn’t need to be gortex outer suitable for getting dressed under after surfing on a beach in the winter!

I’ve seen some on amazon but they look like they are from china - all use very similar photos that make me suspicious that they will be poor quality copies!

So if any of you have any recommendations, that would be fab and most appreciated.

NoWordForFluffy · 28/09/2019 18:48

Dilemma: that Friends Lego isn't on DD's list. But she'd love it. Do I get it?!

NoWordForFluffy · 28/09/2019 18:50

Bloody Argos page is doing the same stupid thing it did with LoL dolls too. Saying I can order to collect next week, then saying no stock. Makes my decision!

Bellablahhole · 28/09/2019 18:51

@recklessgran, another thanks from me. I ordered three lovely earring and bracelet sets for less than the price of one.

My Christmas shopping is coming along very nicely thanks to this thread Grin
