Thread 5 - The Mumsnet bargain thread - spreading the squeaky clean, ethical love!

Reastie · 28/09/2019 08:29

So it’s not a thread all about ethical stuff (good grief there’s a lot of plastic tat that’s been purchased by me from these threads over the years) but with our current obsession with soap bars and shampoo bars and then I think it was fireflygirl who did the quote and it tickled me.

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

@IveGotALovelyBunchOfCoconuts Thanks so much. I’ve been scrolling through the old posts but I couldn’t find it in the sea of Dr B orders Smile

My husband commented yesterday that we should start buying loose tea so that’s him sorted for Christmas!

EvilHerbivore · 28/09/2019 11:33

@PinkJam if it's anything like 'mine' it's that we have such little storage space that unless we've got someone in that we can give it directly too, we can struggle to find somewhere to keep it until it's needed. Saying that, we would always try and accept and then if we don't need it imminently, pass it onto other refuges/charities across the region that we work with. Hope they weren't rude though, that's uncalled for

Imgettingcheesefries · 28/09/2019 11:34

Hi everyone, been following these threads for a while but haven't had any to post yet.

20% off £30 spend at the book people with code EXTRA30. I got the set of Mr Men books for £27.99 instead of £34.99. We have the Little Miss set and DD loves it so very happy to get a bargain on these Smile

GreatBritishbakeofffan · 28/09/2019 11:44

((whistlefish.com/ whistle fish sale here))

PinkJam · 28/09/2019 11:56

I have started a thread called “Reverse advent calendar / gift donations” if anyone is interested Smile

PinkJam · 28/09/2019 11:58

@EvilHerbivore Perhaps lack of storage space was an issue then. Though if they had said that I would have happily stored the clothes and given them my details to contact me when they need them. No they weren’t rude but didn’t signpost me to any other organisations. The lady I spoke to just didn’t seem remotely interested tbh.

Whitecandle · 28/09/2019 12:18

Looking to get a scuttle big for my DS for Christmas. If anyone sees one on sale please let me know! They're only £20 usually but if I can get a bargain happy days!

Not in a rush for it x

Whatsername7 · 28/09/2019 12:19

I bought dd8 Cirque du soleil tickets for the touring show. In comparison to how expensive the london show is it was a bargain. Also bought a few presents from Smyths with their 20% off deal.

lifelongfrugaleer · 28/09/2019 12:19

@Dogmatix34 the wrap is 10m long do it works out at 20m for about £11 on Cox and Cox. I think

Muddlewitch · 28/09/2019 12:24

Alexa Smart Plug is £9.99 on Amazon with code 'SMARTPLUG' full price is £24.99.

imsorryiasked · 28/09/2019 12:25

Thanks for the whistlefish mention - didn't find anything I wanted needed in the sale but in the spirit of this thread they have 100% recyclable Christmas cards on offer 15 for £8.

Whitecandle · 28/09/2019 12:26

@Whatsername7 is that the in store only one?

Serenity25 · 28/09/2019 12:51

Just had an email to say that ALDI hampers can be preordered now. Haven’t ordered them in the past, so not sure what the quality is like.

Theimpossiblegirl · 28/09/2019 13:06

I have just been on Amazon to check the progress of the puppets and have realised I've also not received the embroidered purse or fox scarf from previous threads. Has anyone else had theirs?

Looking4wards · 28/09/2019 13:07

Oh you guys are such a bad influence Grin.
After Dr B, Gruum and now the Brew Co... I think I've got DH and DParents xmas all sorted even if half of the stuff are for me
Thanks to everyone contributing to this thread!

Someaddedsugar · 28/09/2019 13:08

YAY25 for 25% of everything at Wool and the Gang

Spam88 · 28/09/2019 13:10

@Theimpossiblegirl my embroidered purse arrived last week.

Dogmatix34 · 28/09/2019 13:17

Thanks very much for the Cox and Cox suggestions. Think I’ll go for the wrapping paper and baubles.

Jennywallpaper · 28/09/2019 13:18

Is there anyway to get free p&p from cox and cox? £6 seems a little expensive. Thanks

PinkDaydreams · 28/09/2019 13:19

I’ve just noticed on the brew tea website we are ordering the tea sets from, if you sign up you get £5 worth points. I wonder if these can be used in conjunction with the £10 off offer?

Grambler · 28/09/2019 13:31

Can you use the brew tea code more than once?

PinkDaydreams · 28/09/2019 13:32

No @Grambler I’ve just tried placing another order and it wouldn’t let me :(

PinkDaydreams · 28/09/2019 13:33

Unless you use a different email address maybe? @Grambler

TellMeItsNotTrue · 28/09/2019 13:35

I've had the embroidered purse delivered very recently, and I had the few packs of family finger puppets (the ones I shared) I ordered but I haven't had the animal finger puppets (which I didn't share but I think someone did?) so I've just chased those up

MulberryPeony · 28/09/2019 13:40

@beadyboo looks lovely. I’m tempted for myself Blush
