Hello Slaymill . Sometimes this thread is slow moving it doesn’t mean you are not welcome .
The link took me to a page not found but I searched and found the place decorations . I like them and certainly worthy of Poncetastic !

I remember one year a friend made cards with bits of real Christmas tree stuck on ...we all got a card with a bare twig and an envelope of needles !

Are you looking for fake foliage ?

Trumpton · 17/10/2019 13:25

Thank you Trumpton, I'm looking for foliage that looks real. I've jumped down the proverbial rabbit hole searching and I'm quite fixated on finding the ultimate real life looking greenery.

I've also ordered a real small blue spruce christmas which I will plant outside after I've trimmed a few branches. www.treesbypost.co.uk

Then either the faux or real branch will be wrapped with a birch star and small sprayed copper pinecones & attached to the envelopes with copper flecked natural twine.

Can I join? The gift cupboard is filling up and we are offering to host this year (now my kitchen has been done) so am looking forward to poncing about. Already informed DH about how he's going to have to move furniture for my tree. He's going to love me when I make him take all of autumn décor into the loft in 5 weeks time!

Got a headstart in August as we have a pear tree so already made 12 jars of spiced pear jam and 6 200ml bottles of pear gin for hampers.

Wanted to do lovely brown paper wrapping this year but I bulk bought some wrapping paper in the sales and want to use it all up first.

starryeyedsnowgirl · 17/10/2019 21:12

Gosh glad to see this thread is picking up pace a little. Sorry if you felt offended at the slow responses- none intended. The more the merrier! I am massively jealous at the idea of horse delivered cards and the place settings are beautiful.

Trumpton I've seen you do that for years now and keep thinking I should try. It looks amazing. I have still accomplished nothing. But made a plan today for one party so that should inspire us to begin.

I have noticed a few more people pinning my Christmas pins I assume following the link here and I have followed quite a few of your beautiful boards.

Trumpton · 18/10/2019 04:56

Lost a complete post when page refreshed .
I have been knocked flying by chest infection and ordered to do nothing until I see my GP again on Monday .
Antibiotics again 3rd time since July . I have had two breast ops since July and am due to travel to Manchester in November for a big op that will lay me low until Christmas .
So... I need (!) to paint DDs bedroom or at least the bed head wall which is horrible .
I have bright bright peacock blue paint for sunroom with glitter to add in for extra sparkle . I have matching fabric to make a table runner and a runner for the sideboard.
Every year 10 of us ranging from 3 years to 96 years have Christmas lunch in that room and each year I have a theme and redecorate accordingly but not carefully .
And all I can do is ponce from my bed and delegate and DH is so laid back he is practically horizontal and 1. Won’t do it ( cos there is plenty of time ) and 2. If he does do it he will want to do it properly ( and there isn’t time for that malarkey )
I just “stage set it “ with smoke and mirrors !
So wrapping presents gently counts as poncing and as resting right ?
Good tip .....
Set ironing board up at correct height and use it as a wrapping station , trust me it’s a game changer .

Toadsrevisited · 18/10/2019 12:41

Booths christmas book out today. I've got one! I'm going to spend the afternoon drooling over it...

It's poncetastic 2019!
Slaymill · 18/10/2019 16:05

Thanks for the link @Trumpton I've ordered a few different stems and I'm making a visit to our local florist to get some advice on preserving real branches. Please get better soon and yes gentle is the way forward Flowers

I've seen a few photo's of parcels/cards wrapped with rosemary it just doesn't seem to scream Christmas to me!

Mmm spiced pear jam sounds delicious @UrbanMage

@starryeyedsnowgirl Thank you so much. It's so good to be among people who go the extra mile and put love into Christmas.

I did glance at the Booths brochure a joy to behold as always.

Canklesforankles · 18/10/2019 17:02

Aw nice nice to read your posts. Just had my Mirena coil taken out and feel a bit funny so you have cheered me up.
Planning on making a circle of ghosts out of old sheets for the front garden for Halloween. If it doesn’t happen I might print up the sheets and cut them into large squares with pinking sheers to use as wrapping.

Trumpton I hope your infection gets better soon and you can cram in the poncing you want to do before your op. FlowersStar[santa][santa]

starryeyedsnowgirl · 18/10/2019 20:03

Trumpton I am so sorry to hear you have been unwell. Its you who redecorates for Christmas! I am in awe. Wrapping presents is definitely gentle. I hope you can put in some trashy Christmas films whilst you do it.

How old is your dd? If yku are happy for the dining room painting ro be a little slapdash and she is over 10 then give her the task.

I hope you feel better soon. Maybe whilst you are recuperating there will be some poncing to lift your spirits.

Trumpton · 18/10/2019 20:12

Oh bless you starryeyedsnowgirl my children are grown ups !
Eldest dgc is 9 and he not going anywhere near peacock coloured paint ! As it’s the sun room there is a lot of cutting in to do .
DD has 3 children and works so I am not going to ask her although she would do it if asked but then I would have the dgc .
Nah I will do a bit at a time .
I made the runner for the sideboard today between rests .

Trumpton · 18/10/2019 21:19

Ah re reading my post I should make it clear I have two DDs . One is married with 3 dc . The other lives away and it’s her bedroom that needs a spruce up before she comes home for Christmas .
I folded towels into elephant shapes last time she came home for the weekend !

starryeyedsnowgirl · 18/10/2019 22:17

Trumpton- you sound like the mother I aspire to be. Though I confess I am a little relieved. When you mentioned your DD and the repainting of her bedroom and the annual dining room decorating I felt a little inadequate- my excuse of three young children didnt seem valid. But I shall forgive myself for now. Maybe when the toddler years pass I shall match your poncing.

For now if I could just get five minutes to fold laundry I would be winning!

Trumpton · 19/10/2019 06:28

Ah thank you . I don’t miss the laundry mountain !
Feeling a bit brighter this morning and didn’t cough myself awake at all .
Cuppa time .

Slaymill · 19/10/2019 09:58

Slaymill · 19/10/2019 09:59

P.S Glad you're feeling brighter Smile

NoWordForFluffy · 19/10/2019 10:16

@Trumpton,Flowers for you.

I've got my Booths book. I spent £90 in about as many seconds! Xmas Grin

I need to get on with my cross stitch now I'm well again. I've got at least two more to do before Christmas!

doodlejump1980 · 20/10/2019 12:43

@princessbear80 looking good! ⛄️

starryeyedsnowgirl · 20/10/2019 18:53

@slaymill lovely wrapping. Your pinterest board link didnt work for me. If you dkne mind linking again I'd love a nosy.

I realised the other day I have soooooo many pins. Pinterest is so lovely to look at whilst feeding. What will I do once my children are all weaned!

I am off out to buy the ingredients for Christmas cake. Woohoo. And mince pies. The children have instructed me to buy extra filling. When I asked why they said grandpa wants lots of filling- he has been whispering to them to get his way!

Trumpton · 20/10/2019 21:24

I managed to wrap gifts today and taught myself to make easy-peasy ribbon roses to decorate the special ones .
I looked at you tube instructions but some just made my brain hurt !

This is the method I used .
RIBBON ROSES

EgremontRusset · 20/10/2019 21:30

Today I’ve made an autumn leaf wreath for the front door, set marmalade and bay leaf gin to infuse (recipe thanks to this thread) and started mincemeat. I use coconut oil instead of suet - veggie friendly and less processed than suet I think!

MamaWeasel · 20/10/2019 22:59

Those ribbon roses look do-able, thanks @Trumpton!
