Loving the ribbon roses Trumpton my pal Jane Means has the best ribbon along with www.theribbonshop.co.uk/range_christmas_H.asp?pid=89

I need to start my mincemeat @EgremontRusset though I've being feeling under the weather which isn't helping. I've got the Betty's recipes if anyone wants them I'll p.m them.

Finally hopefully this works starryeyedsnowgirl www.pinterest.co.uk/bslay/ what Christmas cake recipe are you using and can you link to your Pinterest thank you.

I'm off for half term so having a super poncetastic week! Christmas jam is bubbling, apple cider is in the slow cooker and mincemeat will be on this afternoon. Ive got my wrapping paper out to make a start and we're making gift tags this week too. There are also plans to make the Yule log to freeze this week along with the sausage rolls.

I'm in full on Christmas mode, the house smells amazing and I'm getting excited!! I may also have been singing jingle bells...

Canklesforankles · 21/10/2019 12:41

Have been making cinnamon buns using bread maker recipe for hot cross but without fruit and nutmeg but after rolling out dough slathering with butter then light brown sugar and cinnamon. Big hit with kids (and me).

Forgot to sprinkle on sultanas so had to poke them on top.

Also make brownies with dried cranberries and pecans. All gone

Canklesforankles · 21/10/2019 12:44

Rhubarb are you making mulled cider in slow cooker?

Slaymill · 21/10/2019 13:14

Those buns look marvellous @Canklesforankles #starbaker

RhubarbCrumbled · 21/10/2019 14:08

It's the American recipe so no alcohol and a big hit with the kids. Although you can add apple brandy later! I'm making a batch to freeze atm. This is the recipe.

Canklesforankles · 21/10/2019 15:15

That sounds great. Will definitely give it a try. Would be nice with a bit of cider or brandy too as you say.

RhubarbCrumbled · 21/10/2019 22:16

One thing that I forgot - if you put cold water over to start then double the cooking time! Mine was on for 6 hours at high before the apples were soft enough to mush.

Canklesforankles · 22/10/2019 00:42

Ha yes. Just found out. DS put wAter in. Checked at bedtime but not done. I fished out spices and oranges when I went to bed so that he can mash up apples tomorrow Halloween Grin

@Trumpton looks amazing!! Will be zooming in and copying for sure.

LiquoricePickle · 23/10/2019 11:38

I'm making my Christmas pudding tomorrow when my sister arrives with the stout!

Christmas chutney this week too.

I'll make my mincemeat on stir it up Sunday. I also make a whole load of biscuits, cookies, biscotti etc. and for some of those I make and freeze the dough in November. I also usually make Christmas pudding vodka, spiced nuts, marzipan, marshmallows for hot chocolate, and a whole host of other things. I have to basically make anything we want because we live abroad and can't get things.

I am so so so excited.

I have so so so much decor to do. I want to make Christmas hand soap and dish soap dispensers from mason jars, sew Christmas cushion covers, make an advent wreath that doubles as a centerpiece, decorate a plate with my toddler... and the longer I spend on this thread the more I want to do!

LiquoricePickle · 23/10/2019 11:39

Oh and I want to try a lime and gin marmalade - has anyone had any success?

NerosFiddle · 23/10/2019 11:45

I have broke my toes, so I'm not able to do my usual foodie poncing. So I think I'll just have to direct dh from the sofa Xmas Grin

Sorry to hear that Nero

Canklesforankles · 23/10/2019 12:14

Hope you feel better soon Nero. Get planning for next year.

LiquoricePickle · 23/10/2019 12:20

Feel better soon Nero!

Oddgirlout · 23/10/2019 18:52

Sorry to hear that @NerosFiddle. That's frustrating. Can you do poncing from a seated position??
I'm thinking of crocheting an advent wreath but I need MN help - are they naff?!

Oddgirlout · 23/10/2019 18:53

I mean Christmas not advent!

Outtheforest · 23/10/2019 19:20

Sorry Nero that's a pain, @LiquoricePickle could you share your marzipan and biscotti recipes. I'm also abroad and can get both but for eye watering prices 🙈

MamaWeasel · 23/10/2019 20:23

Crochet wreaths are a thing of beauty, definitely not naff :)

starryeyedsnowgirl · 24/10/2019 22:17

@ slaymill - your boards are amazing! I have followed and will come back later to browse indulgently. You have a gazillion followers too!

Mine are no where near as organised- but here are mine. here

I am using Delia's Christmas cake recipe as people seems to like it (familiar taste of an 80s youth) and she has a great bit on her website where it lists the quantity needed for different sizes of tin. We do two large cakes and one small so I find it really useful. different sizes . My fruit is soaking right now. I always end up doing it for a few days.

My three year old has been poncing and made (with surprisingly little help) salt dough hanging picture frames for the tree. She has been painting them today and they look great. We added cinnamon to the dough so they smelled amazing whilst cooking. I dont think the scent will last long though.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 25/10/2019 18:46

This thread is not moving up my active threads so I have missed all your updates!

Today I have made 12 of my 24 baubles for my advent tree! They need a bit of finishing off and trimming the ribbons, but they look quite cute I think. I want them hanging off a painted white branch in my hallway.

Also making lots of sweetie cones, hot choc stirrers and goodie bags for a Santa's workshop event (I'm PTA chair) for 120 children. And bought a fake log burner on Facebook for Santa's grotto! (Do these count as poncing?)

Anyway, here's my baubles!

It's poncetastic 2019!
Trumpton · 25/10/2019 20:28

Oh I like those baubles .

I have been making similar but dropping tiny bits of seaglass onto Lazerbond glue ( sets with uv light ) and then a few loose bits . I then hot glued the top on in case any random child decided the glass was sweets !

It's poncetastic 2019!
