firefly Yeah! I've never kept houseplants alive so well so I'm proud! I too am in a flat part of my country so I hear you on the envy!

octo Wow! Your neighbors definitely sound like some on this show I'm watching! It's crazy to me what the police let people get away with too! I'm so shocked watching this show!

I love the Polar Express. The music and the part about the ghosts does it for me lol.

Yay for shopping but not for your sickies. That's never fun!

NerosFiddle · 05/10/2019 17:02

The polar express isn't for me either. But DS loves trains and anything to do with them. My favourite is muppets Christmas Carol, which I only watch on Christmas Eve and then It's a wonderful life.
I'm a sucker for a made for tv Christmas film. Can't wait till channel 5 start showing them in the afternoon. They're the types of films you can put on, miss an hour of it but still know what's going on.

Onthebus sounds like a lovely day.

Weather is atrocious here. Looks like we're in for another storm.

NoWordForFluffy · 05/10/2019 17:08

Home Alone 2 is on today. Didn't see the channel though as I was browsing.

I love Muppets Christmas Carol too. We watched it last year and DD loved it too. DS will maybe appreciate it more this year as he's that bit older.

I just came on to say Home Alone 2 is on. It’s freezing here and is meant to be windy and rainy all through the night and into the morning.

wheelie when I first moved in (just after I had DS) she knocked on all the doors in the street and told them all I was a prostitute. The police give her warnings and that shuts her up for a month or so and then it starts again. It’s a nightmare but me and my other neighbour are determined to move her.

neros I confess I really don’t like a muppets Christmas carolBlush. DS loves Arthur Christmas.

fluffy I just popped on to say it was on!

Mrsmadevans · 05/10/2019 18:38

mrs thank you 😄. It’s a gorgeous view, my view is just houses upon houses!. I’m glad you’ve had a good day with your mom, your evening sounds perfect!.

WheelchairWoes · 05/10/2019 18:52

fiddle I LOVE It's a Wonderful Life! Ugh and the Muppets! It's gotten warm today with the sun being out and I'm like 'no please' lol

fluffy Kid2 loves Home Alone 2. It's her favorite one of those movies

Oct what the heck!! What kind of neighbor do you live near? She sounds awful! My old neighbors that moved called the police for a wellfare check on my then 14 year old because they hadn't seen her in '6 months' I was like we've not even LIVED here that long! She just hates being out of doors!

mrs Your tea sounds lovely!

Since we talked about gardens I have a question. Do you guys have any trees protected by the government? Right outside my back door I have a very large tulip tree. I hate it because I'm honestly afraid of it throwing down giant limbs and killing us in the winter. But because it's our State Tree? I'm not legally allowed to cut it down. I'd have to go to court and petition to get it cut down. It's so troublesome and with Winter on the way I get another year of worrying about it coming through our house.

NoWordForFluffy · 05/10/2019 18:57

We have Tree Protection Orders which are administered by local councils. If a tree has one you can't touch them (maybe can prune, but not sure) without permission. But nothing that is nationally protected as a species, I don't think.

OP posts:
WheelchairWoes · 05/10/2019 19:05

fluffy I wish we did it that way. It sounds less troublesome. This tree has already almost taken us out twice last Winter. We had some giant scary limbs barely miss the roof :(

Also it's kind of an ugly tree haha I'm not sure why it's our state one

Mrsmadevans · 05/10/2019 19:31

Have had to go and google Tulip tree Wheelie Grin
I think they are confused with out Magnolia trees but l don't know why because they don't look like them to me Grin
Can you cut bits off surreptitiously mwahahaha , FGS don't get caught though Grin

sueH1983 · 05/10/2019 19:34

Oh my word the Christmas film chat has begun!

I find Polar Express rather dull.

LOVE Muppet Christmas Carol and Elf. To me Christmas hasn’t happened unless i’ve seen those.

WheelchairWoes · 05/10/2019 19:41

LOL Mrs i wouldn't mind a magnolia tree behind me! They don't tend to toss down huge branches that I've seen!

Unfortunately while my behind neighbors aren't nuisances I think they'd still report me hacking up the Tulip tree hahaha I might contact the park and ask them to do a risk assessment about the tree. Because it could also take out the gas meters which could be bad.

We watch both of those every year maybe more than once!, flouncy. It's not Christmas until Hans Gruber has fallen from the Nakatomi Plaza, after all!

I like miracle on 34th street (the remake!)

CrazyBaubles · 05/10/2019 20:27

So I survived my afternoon pitch side. The weather actually cleared up and it was quite nice. I'm absolutely shattered now (and doing it again tomorrow 🙄).

Thank you to whoever mentioned Arthur Christmas as I'd forgotten that film.
I'm also a fan of the Tim Allen Santa Claus films.

Also a fan of the remake Wreck, especially the scene when he uses sign language with the little girl.

MrsMad you have a lovely view.
I have to say, I love being surrounded by mountains (and I live halfway up one)!
I briefly lived in a very flat place and as nice as it was it just didn't feel like I could ever call it home.
Do you know the Folly Tower in Pontypool? You can see it when approaching from miles away and it's always my beacon to say I'm almost home.

WreckTangled · 05/10/2019 20:31

My dc loved the Christmas chronicles last year. There's been rumours of a remake too.

I've just had a hot chocolate and feel ready for bed!

Ds has football tomorrow but it's 16 miles away and I can't really afford the fuel. He wants me to go but not sure. (If not dh will take him then it's his fuel he uses!). I would rather wait and watch a home game...

onthebusoctopus · 05/10/2019 20:40

wheelie it’s insane. The police gave her a warning the other week and things have calmed down since but I’m sure they’ll start back up again.

Another Christmas confession....I’ve never watched Die HardBlush

crazy I love the Santa Claus films. And Christmas with the Kranks!.

DParents think I’ve gone crazy for watching Christmas films already!. All this talk has got me in the mood!.

wreck DS has football tomorrow too, he goes with my two younger sisters. I have to admit I’m dreading it, it’s fun for them but it isn’t fun for us watching from the side lines.

WreckTangled · 05/10/2019 20:40

I've never watched die hard either Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 05/10/2019 21:07

Never watched Die Hard?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!

Well. Who knew people like this existed?! Xmas Grin

OP posts:
WheelchairWoes · 05/10/2019 21:10

wreck I love the remake of Miracle on 34th!

Crazy I'm glad the weather cleared up and you survived!

Octopus I hope things stay calmed down at least a while more for a break.

I have seen Die Hard. I had the biggest crush on Alan Rickman for so logn haha

My dd2 is home from my parents early. She's not feeling well. I've been worrying about her. I think she might have gotten some of my tummy problems because she's had such a hard time this summer (unless it's the heat which is always possible)

WreckTangled · 05/10/2019 21:11

In my defence I was only 1 when die hard first came out Grin

onthebusoctopus · 05/10/2019 21:12

Is it really a Christmas film? Everyone says it is but I just can’t see how it could be

Thank you wheelie I hope your DD feels better soonFlowers

onthebusoctopus · 05/10/2019 21:12

I wasn’t even born when it came out!

NoWordForFluffy · 05/10/2019 21:14

Yeah, but you're not 1 now, Wreck! 😂

And, yep, it's set at Christmas, ergo it's a Christmas film. 🎅🏻🎄🎅🏻🎄

Wheelie, AR was a beautiful human being. I cried when I heard he'd died (it was a traumatic few weeks with him and David Bowie so close together!).
