Jingle those bells because it’s time for thread 1!

The aim of this thread is to share ideas for Christmas bargains and present ideas and a little bit of Christmas chat etc. I’ll try my best to do a post with the most popular links, if there’s anything specific you’d like me to add or if something I’ve put up doesn’t work please let me know in bold . Thank you

As usual no affiliate links (I’m still not exactly sure what they are but consensus was not to have them) and if we have any sites to post personal sign up links we’ll do this on a separate thread so all can post their links, I’ll do this when —I get around to it— soon.

@MooPointCowsOpinion, is it a toy worth playing with though? It’s definitely a bargain but looks kind of dull. I’m looking for a gift for my niece but I’m worried she’d be bored inside 5 minutes.

Can I have recs for slippers and a nightgown for a 75 year old woman please?

My mum usually wears M&S and I wanted to get her something a bit special. I was considering a Joules nightshirt and some cahsmere slippers from The White Company. I wear neither though, so would appreciate any advice!

Willow4987 · 19/08/2019 20:37

Likesilver UGG slippers are so nice! On the expensive side but so worth it and last years and years and years

Willow4987 · 19/08/2019 20:39

@MooPointCowsOpinion did the email say when the Argos sale starts? I haven’t had the email yet

Millie2013 · 19/08/2019 20:42

We bought MIL White Company slippers, she loves them. The white co nightwear is lovely too, I've got a couple of pairs of their PJs

Reastie · 19/08/2019 20:44

QOD doesn’t it may work on certain colour hair though? And do you have to do it forever or will it actually stop regrowth? Can it to large areas like thr legs?

@rainbowstardrops not especially bargainous but last Christmas we got our dc17, 15, 12 and 9 tickets for experiences - Kaiser Chiefs, Avengers Station, Little Mix & Harry Potter - rather than blow money on things they didn’t really want.

4 of us went to Kaisers, all to Avengers, 3 are going to LM and 4 to HP. We will look to do similar again this year as they all loved it, especially our 2 London adventures!!

PastaSauceHoarder · 19/08/2019 21:03

Ooh thanks for the tip about the 'Thats Not My' books @PinkDaydreams, my 2 year old DD loves them. I looked online but they'd sold out of all the ones I had my eye on, wandered down to my local this afternoon though and got three of them! Smile

Also managed to get a pack of newborn vests, muslin squares and dribble bibs in the Baby Event for our little girl due in Jan, the whole lot (books included) only cost me £18. Grin

@Reastie I’m mousy brown turned grey and I only did my legs twice. I rarely have to shave my legs these days
Facially it’s fab. I have PCOS and it’s slowed it right down

Thanks for the Pilgrim link. bought earrings for both dds and that is me underway now. Nice to see links for gifts for older kids and adults on these threads, as well as toys.

imsorryiasked · 19/08/2019 21:32

Inspired by Moopoint I've trawled through Argos clearance and these are bargains:
Big (technical) knex sets
Similar to knex Engino STEM amusement park set
Nanoblock New York scene
Lego classic bricks and eyes
Polly Pocket tiny places now cheaper than Amazon at £1.99

Willow4987 · 19/08/2019 21:33

character.com has some great offers on kids and adult clothes and accessories - I got myself and my sister care bear and my little pony PJs (very grown up!) for £5 each and they had some nice roald Dahl stuff in stock (for kids) the last time I looked. Also got a great hey Duggee backpack for around £5 too.

'Thats Not My Books' for £2.99 each in the Aldi Toddler and Baby Event @Willow4987, I THINK there might be a couple online but the ones I bought were in store only. Smile

PinkDaydreams · 19/08/2019 21:44

@PastaSauceHoarder glad to have helped Grin
@Willow4987 it was me saying that aldi have some good things in on the children’s special buy offers. I’m tempted by the that’s not my books but I’ve already bought little one 12 books for Xmas/birthday (within week of each other) and his nan gets him books for Xmas and birthday too, so I’m keeping my purse firmly shut

MrsCrimbo74 · 19/08/2019 21:47

For the people looking for workbenches, this one is cute and is £19.99

Excellent! Got T-shirt’s for adult niece and her hubby and 2 kids. All matching. Hehehe

Willow4987 · 19/08/2019 21:49

@PastaSauceHoarder @PinkDaydreams thanks so much! I’ll be off to Aldi tomorrow then!

MrsCrimbo74 · 19/08/2019 21:51

Also, don't know how many of you have heard of Mardles but they do interactive books, so you use your iphone or ipad and the images come to life, you can have a cow walking on your hand etc, they are really good, qvc are doing a set of five for £25, you could easily split them up and give them out as gifts

PinkDaydreams · 19/08/2019 21:59

@Willow4987 they’ve got character pyjamas too that look nice. Have a nosey on the website Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 19/08/2019 22:03

I got DD a lovely Charlie and the Chocolate Factory t-shirt and DS some Paw Patrol vests. 😁

Ahh, I knew this thread would be popping up soon as it is almost (one of the) 2017's Christmas Thread Baby's second birthday Grin

He's tractor obsessed and I've been trying to get hold of a no-pedal tractor and trailer ride on for him on Marketplace, but I keep missing out as they sell so fast (for £15-£20 usually). Although I prefer buying second hand for things like this, I was very happy to find the exact one I want on Smyth's toys for £24.99. It doesn't say it's reduced or anything, but the RRP on other sites is £51.99. Worth a look if you've got a tractor obsessed 1-3 year old Grin
