Jingle those bells because it’s time for thread 1!

The aim of this thread is to share ideas for Christmas bargains and present ideas and a little bit of Christmas chat etc. I’ll try my best to do a post with the most popular links, if there’s anything specific you’d like me to add or if something I’ve put up doesn’t work please let me know in bold . Thank you

As usual no affiliate links (I’m still not exactly sure what they are but consensus was not to have them) and if we have any sites to post personal sign up links we’ll do this on a separate thread so all can post their links, I’ll do this when —I get around to it— soon.

I don't know if it's already been mentioned but Revolution Beauty have a sale up to 70% off on their site. There are some nice palettes and sets as well as some (presumably last years) Advent calendars/12 days of Christmas sets.

101Robin · 18/08/2019 22:40

MichonnesBBF thanks, I went in store today and they said literally everything was included but their stock was totally crap.

WeeM · 18/08/2019 23:12

I love these threads but always lose my way with them and can’t keep up! Will try harder this year! I am possibly on the lookout for a bike this year as a main present.

PinkBuffalo · 18/08/2019 23:29

So glad the Christmas thread is up! I have also started as am financially struggling this year and can't take the huge hit at the end of the year.
On that note, so far I have found the following in the last few weeks
I saw in Tescos on Friday all their big bags of sweets like celebrations, roses, quality street, heroes etc were all reduced to £2.50. They all had dates of March 2020 on them so did all my Xmas chocolate shopping and it's all stashed away in a cupboard ready to give out, so that's one thing done.
Also worth scouting charity shops. I got my friend whose birthday is just before Xmas, a lovely brand new new look handbag with the tags and wrap still on for£3.
Poundland has some lovely bits in at the moment so have picked up a couple of jigsaws for friends little ones that can be put away for Xmas.
Also in the B&M sale, their cinnamon candles in a jar (small ones) were all £1 so got one for each of my friends as an extra.
Got some lovely girls pjs in the nutmeg sale in Morrisons too for my niece.
I'm sure I'll be checking back here periodically on pay days Smile

luxplus how old is your dd? I work in a nursery and the children age 2-4 love the fisher price codeapillar. you link the parts on to change what route it takes, it's a great introduction to coding in a fun way.

or if you wanted something with buttons and more advanced go for the learning resources coding mouse which I believe gets used in schools. was reduced on Argos to £9.99 but none local to me as I wanted it for me dd2!

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 18/08/2019 23:47

millie2013 is your dd into Lego? my 7 year old has asked for the Harry potter and unikitty sets but loads of choice. she also likes origami and those scratch art sets. they keep her occupied for ages. my eldest likes drawing and has loved using a draw your own comic book and how to draw kawaii characters book. plus they collect funko figures from favourite films and Snowglobes which make nice gifts.

Checking in 😊 Love Christmas, will be the first in our new house so looking forward to having lots and lots to buy

cocobean26 · 19/08/2019 00:15

My absolute favourite thread of the year. Bought a couple of things from the prequel thread and just managed to buy myself a leather jacket from the ASOS sale! My DS’s are 11 now and it’s just labels & tech but we’ve got a new puppy so maybe there will be some pet bargains 😁

@MichonnesBBF
What site? Nothing came up when I searched @101robin?

I’m going to get ds(7) the marvel advent calendar from smyths (have preordered)... but dd(10) says she’d like a spy one(!) I was going to do some mysteries to track down some wee gifts and get some spy accessories. I’ve ordered a uv pen, some crime scene tape, a fingerprint kit and she has the Melissa and Doug set plus the usbourne book- any other spy gadgets your children have loved? Thought I could do a DIY periscope kit...

moonbabyandthebeast · 19/08/2019 01:11

Got a few of these for the present cupboard. Hopefully useful to someone, maybe as a stocking filler at that price.

Sorry,that's from argos!

101Robin · 19/08/2019 02:18

Isadora2007 Robin101 is my username, the site in question is Claire's which is having a buy 3 get 3 free

WheresTheCoffee · 19/08/2019 05:47

Thank you Reastie Flowers
I can't believe it's that time already!

lifelongfrugaleer · 19/08/2019 06:14

Noticed yesterday Sainsbury's have the buy 6 save 25% on wine.

NoWordForFluffy · 19/08/2019 06:19

I'm not sure whether to buy wine now or hold out for double up as I don't know if the latter will happen this year.

Millie2013 · 19/08/2019 07:13

Thanks for the suggestions She’d love a microscope and I’ll check out the Bright Minds website too!
She does like Lego, but goes through stages with it. I’ll definitely add one of those scratch books to the list

My minor offering that may have been mentioned already- Home bargains has some stationery bargains, branded stuff at a fraction of the cost. Ideal for stocking fillers, or teachers’ gifts

Whitecandle · 19/08/2019 07:21

It'll be my babies 1st Christmas this year, followed by his bday early Jan.

Toying between the two ideas of trying not to buy too much as he won't even know this year, but then wanting to go all out for memories for me and his dad as it's his first....

Also on maternity pay so need some cheaper ideas for family etc.

Christmas is my fave time of the year!!

PinkDaydreams · 19/08/2019 07:22

Asos website, use code ASOSSALEGRAB for extra 15% off and they’re doing free next day delivery to asda. Hope this helps others that are after advent calendars.

Aldi has lots of the ‘thats not my’ books in the toddler special buys, also character pyjamas, floor rugs, bath toys. Some lovely gifts.

lifelongfrugaleer · 19/08/2019 07:48

Will be a shame if the double up isn't on @NoWordForFluffy. Not even sure if there will be another 25% event

NoWordForFluffy · 19/08/2019 07:53

Which is why I'm teetering on just getting some now (with points), @lifelongfrugaleer.

I don't want to bring politics here, but it's the current 'big issue' making me think it may not happen.

boughtnotbrought · 19/08/2019 08:01

I was in Matalan yesterday, they had lots of Harry Potter things in, along these lines link

Angelf1sh · 19/08/2019 08:03
