2019 Christmas bargains thread 1

Jingle those bells because it’s time for thread 1!

The aim of this thread is to share ideas for Christmas bargains and present ideas and a little bit of Christmas chat etc. I’ll try my best to do a post with the most popular links, if there’s anything specific you’d like me to add or if something I’ve put up doesn’t work please let me know in bold . Thank you

As usual no affiliate links (I’m still not exactly sure what they are but consensus was not to have them) and if we have any sites to post personal sign up links we’ll do this on a separate thread so all can post their links, I’ll do this when —I get around to it— soon.

LikeSilver · 27/08/2019 18:21

ASOS had pool stuff in their sale but it was a week or so ago when I looked!

nickdrakeslovechild · 27/08/2019 18:40

LoonyLunaLoo the supermarkets are selling off the summer stuff, I saw lots of things in my local ASDA.

LoonyLunaLoo · 27/08/2019 18:59

@LikeSilver I couldn’t find any pool toys but did find some nice Superdry sliders for me 😂.

@nickdrakeslovechild thanks I’ll have a look 😊

Some lovely wooden toys in Lidl for £5.99. Absolute bargain compared to some of the branded wooden toys out there. They also have magnetic drawing boards for £4.99 and aqua doodle type mats for £5 or £6.

Not sure how it compares with what TK Maxx sells it at, but saw Spode have deals on its Christmas Tree set.

PatchworkElmer · 27/08/2019 19:56

So pleased to have found you all. This is my 3rd year, found some great bargains last year through this amazing thread.

EvilHerbivore · 27/08/2019 20:08

Just had an email to say that tincs advent calendar (like a cheaper version of smiggle) will be available to preorder from the 4th of September

Jammiebammie · 27/08/2019 20:14

Some great deals at hobbycraft, I’ve just placed an order worth £67.35 for only £31.85 delivered!

Half price on a lot of art supplies (including Posca pens if anyone knows them, dd will go daft for them she’s wanted them for ages and never normally on sale) a lot of paper pads on 2 for £8 and similar stacking deals. Plus codes stack on top, I used 5OFF35 for £5 off a £35 spend, but there’s also 10OFF70 for £10 off a £70 spend. Free delivery over £20 too.

Really happy, Posca pens ended up costing me only £7.90 each pack instead of £18.

Lanka kade have released a limited edition rainbow elephant its amazing and £3.49 it's free post at www.littlefootprint.co.uk available at other places too but haven't found free post anywhere else, great for stockings. I have just ordered as a 1st day at school gift for my 4yr old.

georgialondon · 27/08/2019 21:38

Thanks for the family finger puppets tip. A great toddler stocking filler 👍🏼

Fantababy · 27/08/2019 21:43

Thanks for that Eastmids, just ordered the elephant and the wooden dinosaur puzzle as stocking fillers. I can't resist free delivery! 🤦🏻‍♀️

TakeMeToYourLiar · 27/08/2019 21:48

Thanks for London Transport tip DS will love his hat scarf and jumper

Givealittlebit · 27/08/2019 21:56

@Tigger83 we got my little boy the ikea kitchen the Christmas before he turned 2. It's excellent! We actually got it 2nd hand on fb but it's so sturdy it looks brand new, and he loves that the job turns on with lights.

Can't believe how fast the thread is moving already! Have just ordered the finger puppets so thank you to whoever posted those! Look like a lovely stocking filler

Mynameisnotthis · 27/08/2019 21:57

@Youvegotafriendinme you’re welcome! I liked her page based on your recommendation so assume many others did the same Smile

Resetpassword · 27/08/2019 22:12

Thanks for the Lanke Kade reminder, I bought a couple of bits for my toddler last year after seeing a recommendation on here and they've been well played with.
Could someone repeat the finger puppet deal please? Think I missed that one.

margaritasbythesea · 27/08/2019 22:18

Thanks for all the Transformers tips. You guys know your stuff. We went to Hamleys first before the dreaded Westfield and DS was over the moon at the range they had. Overpriced for sure, but the thrill of being able to pay and take away was huge, without mummy saying, 'I could get that'd cheaper on ebay.' And yes, you're right about that too Wink thanks to Aylesbury, Like Silver and two other kind posters I'm too befuddled to remember right now. Very much appreciated.

UrbanMage · 27/08/2019 22:37

@MyIncapableOne you will have made my Dd's Christmas with the Hachimals heads up.

Saltrock have emailed me to say they've got a sale on. They sometimes have decent t shirts on there, if you are buying for anyone who likes surfing/ beach vibes.

katewhinesalot · 28/08/2019 00:37

Anyone live near a Wyevale that has turned into a Dobbies. Loads of 50-70% off bargains. Many toys, games and puppets etc as well as more adult bargains.

NoWordForFluffy · 28/08/2019 05:35

Saltrock does lovely kids' hoodies.

LikeSilver · 28/08/2019 07:04

Cute fast food wooden playset for £5 at Matalan (for those who have DC who like to play drive-thru like mine Blush)

Isadora2007 · 28/08/2019 07:39

@Jammiebammie thank you for the hobbycraft tip. I bought so much the £10 code worked!!! 🙈

Spam88 · 28/08/2019 07:42

Trying to decide who to give that Oliver Bonas scarf to and really kicking myself for not getting two!

DarkHumour · 28/08/2019 08:07

@woodwaj What age is the recipient of the hat and scarf set you bought? They look lovely, but the product details says hat circumference of 18cm? I think perhaps it should read 18 inch, otherwise it’s newborn/doll size? I would love this for my son - but a bit wary of ordering nowConfused
