Jingle those bells because it’s time for thread 1!

The aim of this thread is to share ideas for Christmas bargains and present ideas and a little bit of Christmas chat etc. I’ll try my best to do a post with the most popular links, if there’s anything specific you’d like me to add or if something I’ve put up doesn’t work please let me know in bold . Thank you

As usual no affiliate links (I’m still not exactly sure what they are but consensus was not to have them) and if we have any sites to post personal sign up links we’ll do this on a separate thread so all can post their links, I’ll do this when —I get around to it— soon.

@imsorryiasked that might be an idea. Never actually been on EbayShock but will try. Thanks

Jammiebammie · 27/08/2019 09:37

*glamper sorry, not glamour

As a pp said Tesco have some great offers on Crayola products. They had a lovely big box of crayons, pencils, pens etc down from £22 to £10. I couldn't justify it for my kids as they have a ton of pencils and crayons but I did my kids a box of 50 crayola pens for £5 think they were originally £10.

I went to Smiggle in Dublin today resigned to buy the advent calendar (I promised this year) and it was €68!!!!!! While in the shop I looked up smiggle.co.uk and it was 28 pounds with European deliver for 5. So ended up costing me 36 instead of 68!!!

LikeSilver · 27/08/2019 10:56

Please could somebody remind me when Smyths do their pre-Christmas offer? I have some big playsets to buy. Is it October half term? Thank you.

Re Transformers - my DS loves them too and I realise it’s not an actual shop but I usually find the best prices on ebay.

whereareyousleep · 27/08/2019 11:02

The symyths offer is normally last weekend in septermber or I'm sure that's when it was last year.

PinkDaydreams · 27/08/2019 11:40

Sainsbury’s are selling reduced transformer figures. I’ve just seen some in the clearance section

gaggiagirl · 27/08/2019 11:56

My DS got a few transformers reduced in sainsburys and also tk maxx.

yellowsun · 27/08/2019 12:27

We’ve got transformers in Tesco before.

I think my daughter my like a dolls house this year as she's very much into pretend play... I've been looking at sylvanian families mainly cause I loved them in my youth!

Anyone bought any sylvanian families recently? Is it worth the expense?

TKRedLemonade · 27/08/2019 13:25

My Dd got the beechwood halll year and it has had intermittent success. Thank be honest it’s so fiddly she often loses patients by the time it’s all set up. I’m glad I got it all second hand. It’s was worth the second hand price not the full price. She is 5

Sux2buthen · 27/08/2019 14:13

I don't know if anyone else has a child that likes bush babies (they are weird) but just found this on hot deals uk, it's quite a bargain

Have just discussed the Christmas board and this thread, hoping to save some pennies on Christmas and starting to get little bits here and there to spread the cost and effort.

@pepsilola - my nieces are 5 and 8 and absolutely adore Sylvanian families. Worth the money.

woodwaj · 27/08/2019 14:43

@imsorryiasked I have just gone on to look at the hat and scarf and you found an extra bargain without realising it. Theres an offer stack. So the hat and scarf are half price in the sale but £10 off if you buy both together plus new orders get 10% with code Hello10 so I got the hat, scarf a tshirt and a baby hat for £18.88 delivered (postage a fiver! Grr!) Thank you!

imsorryiasked · 27/08/2019 15:03

@woodwaj ooh result!

TalkingOrmer · 27/08/2019 15:15

Which hat and scarf? I’ve obviously missed a page somewhere. Thanks

imsorryiasked · 27/08/2019 16:28

Amazon has the collectible Disney Showcase figurines on offer from £25 - mostly 25%-50% off.
Also, Christmas Pencil with Eraser - Pack of 24 (Assorted Designs and colours) for £6.27 - good for party bags / groups etc.
And a YuQi 5' Silver Point Tinsel Pop-Up Artificial Christmas Tree reduced from £70 to £29 with a further 20% off at checkout if you tick the box on the listing.

woodwaj · 27/08/2019 16:33

@TalkingOrmer it's just bus themed ones from the next page back!

TalkingOrmer · 27/08/2019 16:45

Thanks woodwaj

Tamtam86 · 27/08/2019 17:15

Does anyone have tips for finding good deals on perfume? Looking to get MIL her usual Angel by Thierry Mugler and hoping I can find it at a good price!

totsalot · 27/08/2019 17:20

Does anyone’s DC have the little live unicorn rainglow vet set? My three year old was absolutely mesmerised by it at Smyths on the weekend but I’m not sure how much of a gimmick it is for £60 or if it would be a bit too old for her. I miss when Smyths would do their 20% off event!

NoWordForFluffy · 27/08/2019 17:32

@Tamtam86, keep an eye on Superdrug. I got mine from there last year and a greatly-reduced price.

Tamtam86 · 27/08/2019 17:41

@NoWordForFluffy thank you!

TeaAndToastx2 · 27/08/2019 18:08

I got the sylvanian cosy cottage (normally £15) and a family for my 2yr old son last Christmas and he plays with it regularly. I think some of the other sets are a bit fiddly for his age though

LoonyLunaLoo · 27/08/2019 18:15

Hiya, has anyone seen any bargain pool toys/ beach towels/ holiday type stuff please? We’re going to Australia for Christmas so need to buy compact presents for DS and thought these would be both small and useful while we’re there!
