2019 Christmas bargains thread 1

Reastie · 18/08/2019 07:26

Jingle those bells because it’s time for thread 1!

The aim of this thread is to share ideas for Christmas bargains and present ideas and a little bit of Christmas chat etc. I’ll try my best to do a post with the most popular links, if there’s anything specific you’d like me to add or if something I’ve put up doesn’t work please let me know in bold . Thank you

As usual no affiliate links (I’m still not exactly sure what they are but consensus was not to have them) and if we have any sites to post personal sign up links we’ll do this on a separate thread so all can post their links, I’ll do this when —I get around to it— soon.

Another quick one from me, this just popped up on my Instagram. For 24 hours only in the Disney shop.

Just had an email from Revolution makeup they have upto 70% off in their sale and all sale items are 3 for 2.

wafflethewonderdog · 22/08/2019 15:20

By the till in my local Card Factory there was a basket of clearance items. Keyrings, erasers, stationery sets all 2 for £1. Ideal for stocking fillers.

MamaRaisingBoys · 22/08/2019 16:00

Thanks for all the info about the Very deal

Coldilox · 22/08/2019 16:20

Woohoo, made it in time for thread 1!

It’s was DS’ 5th birthday on Monday so he had everything he could ever possibly want, so definitely on the lookout for ideas. DW’s birthday is inconveniently in November too, so two lots of presents to buy for her. And I’m skint so definitely in need of a bargain!

Looking for good deals on a Lego advent calendar - he had playmobil last year and playmobil 123 the year before that so any will do.

MrsCrimbo74 · 22/08/2019 16:39

Not on offer but I know this sells quite quickly at Christmas, the decorate your own felt Christmas Tree is £6.00 at Hobbycraft

KitKatCHA · 22/08/2019 16:46

Anki Overdrive starter kit reduced from £150 to £39.99 at Amazon. Not convinced it's worth £150 but based on the reviews £39.99 is a cracking price!

bearfood · 22/08/2019 18:33

If anyone can help me find matching pjs which will fit a 3-6 month old and a 5-6 year old I would be very grateful! They don't need to be Christmassy. The kids are a boy and a girl so gender neutral or boyish if possible please!

IggyAce · 22/08/2019 18:38

@bearfood Next and Matalan had lots of matching family clothing last year for Christmas.

bearfood · 22/08/2019 18:41

Thank you @IggyAce...I've looked at Next's current stick and there's nothing below a 9-12 months in pjs but will check close to Christmas. Going to look at Matalan now!

Mileysmiley · 22/08/2019 18:42

I am marking this threadSmile

ImNotHappyaboutitPauline · 22/08/2019 18:59

*@KitKatCHA** I was looking at the Anki overdrive for ds but I read that Anki went out of business this year. Might be worth looking into whether there is any customer support etc available before buying.

daphine2004 · 22/08/2019 19:10

Place marking.

NerosFiddle · 22/08/2019 19:18

@bearfood I got pjs for the whole family last year in Matalan.

Letsgetreadytorumbleagain · 22/08/2019 19:42

@bearfood I've done matching pjs for the last 7 years. Last year they were pretty much everywhere. Tesco, Asda, Next, Matalan and even Aldi we're doing some

Reastie · 22/08/2019 19:48

Thank you Jamie, I’ll add the mn affiliate link policy to the op. Think with affiliate links is it can be tricky to tell until you’ve clicked on mn. Thanks for clarifying lilymn. Anyone spotting affiliate links please report to mn and they can look into it behind the scenes.

Chips hope the shoulder sorts itself out.

I wholeheartedly agree with what @tentative3 said about the tedious place marking posts. They don't add anything useful to any thread and I would welcome a "rule" that all posts have to have a purpose that's relevant to the topic - asking for or offering suggestions - NOT just place marking. Bit Blush at sticking my head above the parapet there as I know a lot of people do these placemarking posts but my god they're annoying.

In the spirit of not being a hypocrite, errr, Crew Clothing have some really good reductions right now Grin

Reastie · 22/08/2019 19:56

I’m adding a comment about watching the thread not placemarking every time for the next first message. It’s a good point. Although I can say it but it doesn’t mean anyone will listen.

So tomorrow I will be having the following delivered:
3 x Polly Pockets
1 x Oliver Bonas gloves
1 x Prosecco Pong game
1 x Friends the one with the ball game
And £23 worth of stuff from Rex London sale

I blame you lot!

I only came on to see if anyone had seen an advent calendar similar to the Squashies one I ordered from last year's thread??

Thegirlhasnoname · 22/08/2019 20:23

@bearfood H&M did them the last time I checked

Teaandbiscuits88 · 22/08/2019 20:27

My Oliver Bonas scarves arrived earlier in the week and they are GORGEOUS! Thanks for the recommendation. One of them will be staying with me rather than making it to the Christmas pile 😉

Spam88 · 22/08/2019 20:40

I've bought a couple of Melissa and Doug abacuses (abaci?) from TK Maxx for £8, RRP is £13 and that's what they are on amazon. Think they'll make nice gifts :) Postage is £4 if you can't get to a store though.

ClosedAuraOpenMind · 22/08/2019 20:49

20% off everything at Sass and Belle - good for cute stationery, water bottles, mugs and various other lovely things

have got a mug, money bank, sloth pencil and notebook, trinket dish and key ring in my basket for £14 - bargain!

Daenarys · 22/08/2019 20:59

Oh this is a great idea! Following excitedly!

Willow4987 · 22/08/2019 21:08

I’ve just checked TK Maxx based on @Spam88 post about Melissa & Doug and there are a few other bits on their website. The fire engine is on for £9.99, RRP £15.99 and a couple cookie/cupcake sets
