Morning!

We had some rain yesterday. Not as much as forecast, just enough to dampen everything but not really water.

I'm tired today. Hurrah for Friday tomorrow!

Same here fluffy but it is meant to tip it down tomorrow which I am looking forward to :)

Almost the end of term, I can't wait!

SuperPixie247 · 18/07/2019 11:43

Ahhh I have found my people again! I was on the threads for the last couple of years but have namechanged this year. I recognise most of you though Smile

Too many to name check Blush but I hope everyone is well, everyones family is well and those that aren't feeling so great, I hope things improve! Flowers

Totally envious of those who are creative and crafty. I don't have an ounce of ponce in me Envy I am determined to make something foody this year though. I eye up the flavoured vodka every year... Is anyone planning on making that this year?!

I have a 3 yr old DS and I definitely can't buy him anything anytime soon. What he likes today, he doesn't like tomorrow. Is anyone else in the same boat?

BiddyPop · 18/07/2019 12:36

We had a fairly intense downpour yesterday evening, and now its back to being oppressively muggy again. DD home from camp, grubby but not up to her eyeballs in muck, only slightly sunburnt, and happy! Her laundry done, and nearly caught up on the rest before we go. Tonight I need to pack, as we had DD's physio last night. But DH has his things out, DD is to get hers out today and I don't really want to bring loads. (And I have my craft stuff out already! Xmas Grin).

I'm going to do more Limoncello this year, as I only have a small amount left from my last batch (3 years ago!) and hoping to do some sloe gin as well. I've done raspberry vodka in the past, which was lovely (but I don't have an allotment to grow them anymore). And rhubarb and ginger is another nice combination one.

I hope the end of term goes well for all those still in school - you seem to finish so late compared to us here.

Better go - clearing my desk is taking quite a bit of effort as there are lots of small jobs, each only "5 minutes", but needing to be signed off and filed, before tomorrow night.....and I really want to just turn off the emails and ignore work while I am away this year.

Fluffy rain has been forecast for tomorrow and Saturday, I hope to god that doesn’t change, we need rain now.

Pixie my DH is like your DS. He goes through all these different fads that last about a few months max. I wait until December 1st and then do shopping for him. I hope your DS grows out of it before he gets to DH’s age😂

Biddy I’m glad your DD had a good time at camp. Your vodka combinations sound delicious.

I’m feeling dog rough. My throat is on fire and my chest feels like it’s rattling. I can’t have any lemsip so DH has kindly offered to make me honey and lemon when he gets home and I’ll try to get an early night. The stocking has come so I might get cracking on that tonight. My ring for DD came today, it has her initial on. I love it!

Yes, it's due to rain here too, tomorrow. Saturday's forecast rain doesn't actually get above a 50% chance, so it may not come. We shall see!

Where are you off to, Biddy? Have a lovely time.

Pixie, I found that they're quite pliable to hints at being told what they want at that age! Last year was the last year I think I'll be getting away with it though. Xmas Grin

I've got to go home and bake cakes / scones for the teachers' afternoon tea in a bag gift tomorrow. I gave it last year and think it went down well, so I'm doing it again this year too. Thank god for the KitchenAid is all I can say.

Have pics of scald if interested lol 🤪

DD assured me although it looks worse tonight it's a good sign it's redder apparently 😁

EmrysAtticus · 19/07/2019 05:51

Morning!

Bloody hell, Mrs. Ouch! I hope you recover quickly. How did you manage to do that?!

It's raining here. Yay for my plants getting wet! Not so yay for me! 😂

Ours finish on Tuesday, Emrys. But they're taking the teacher presents in today.

McShakey Can I ask where the ring is from? It’s my birthday in September and I may need one! Grin

Hello Flouncy lovely pic. Looking forward to seeing everyone’s sewing projects - I’m very much a beginner, but what I lack in skill I make up for in enthusiasm!

SuperPixie247 · 19/07/2019 13:26

McShakey I'm hoping he grows out of it sharpish. It must be so frustrating for you around Xmas and birthdays not knowing what to get your DH! Hope you feel better soon.

Fluffy
I think my DS is too stubborn for hints! He can't half dig his heels in, not sure where he gets it from... 😂

Dear god Mrs that looks like a shocker! Look after yourself Flowers

Raining silly heavy here (W Yorks) but I agree, good for the garden. I do feel for all the kide from the local high school tramping home soaked for the start of their "summer holidays".

NoWordForFluffy · 19/07/2019 13:38

Hi (again!) flouncy! Xmas Grin

I don't grow much in pots other than herbs and a few tomatoes this year. I do spuds in sacks too. You can do more spuds for Christmas (I need to find some actually).

Pixie, my DS is awfully stubborn, but is fine with the present thing! It's odd.

It's sunny and close here now after tipping it down all morning. My weeds will love it!

The rain is torrential here and I am loving it. I have the French doors open so I can smell that rainy smell Grin So relieved that the garden has had a proper water before we go on holiday.

Poundland, Wilko, B&M etc all sell seed potatoes, so they're worth a look. But not at this time of year.

I got some from Dobbies last year (at a price!) so might go there.

The sun is trying to come out here now after more torrential rain this afternoon (I'm not too far from you, flouncy!) and it's still stiflingly close. I was in training watching it chuck it down on the Albert Dock!

I got some free beer from work today. There was loads of it! Nice Friday treat!

Evening everyone Smile
Fluffy l scalded my arm because l was leaning on my left elbow on the side of the sink waiting for Mum's cuppa to stew and l picked the spoon up to remove the T bag and knocked the tea over , it only had me on the elbow , l was so lucky. I put it in water straight away and it really helped l am sure. It's healing quite well l think , normally l would leave it to the air but they warned me against infection so l am behaving myself Grin
Em isn't the rain gorgeous and so refreshing it has been so humid here today l love the smell of the rain after too Smile
Super thank you m'dear it is not too bad, at least it has stopped stinging now Hmm
Nice cross stitch Flouncy Smile
Fluffy l want an afternoon tea now m'dear it sounds delish! l bet the staff loved them Grin

NW coast, flouncy!

And yes, being prepared is key (says she who's missed the boat for Christmas ones, it appears!).

That's a lovely cross stitch too. I'll check the Heritage site out. I've loads stacking up ready to do though. 😂

I'm home and working my way through two cases of laundry - hampered by rain. Our swimsuits have stained really badly (suncream) and I don't think I can rescue them. I've tried Vanish and I've washed them but they still have yellow white bits. It's not really a problem apart from a pair of DS's swim shorts which should be blue and white that are currently blue and yellow. He needs two lots to take on a trip with school next month so I might have to get him a new one.

I'm also working my way through my duty free purchase Grin while catching up with my crochet.

Mrsmadevans · 19/07/2019 21:01

Flouncy where in Wales m'dear getting excited perhaps l know them Grin
