New month coincides with the need for a new thread!

The last one kept us going for over 2 months, so let's see how we do this time!

Hi everyone Smile
Have just come back from Mum's , did her shopping and cooked her a lovely lunch. She is feeling much better thankfully just in time for me to deflate and collapse from my leg pain Grin, left her watching a binge watch of the Thornbirds , so she is happy, tissues at the ready Grin
Glad you had better weather than us Jen , IT'S ABSOLUTETLY DIABOLICAL HERE , that deserved Caps m'dear lol , thank you for being so kind Smile

Emrys that cross stitch is lovely Smile
Glad you had a lovely time with your friends Smile
We are watching Lee Evans for some light relief , he is so funny but the sweat and the swearing ! Grin

CrazyBaubles · 15/06/2019 22:02

Fluffy your snow dog is looking lovely, I can't wait to see it finished.

Ghekko working every weekend sounds hard going. Is that a short term plan?

MrsMad I'm glad your dr listened to you and the medication is helping.
What is your plan going forward? More physio?

Thank you for update on Wheels, if you contact her can you pass on my best wishes please? I miss her on the board 💐

And PSB, I do hope everything is alright with her ds.

That bruise on your dfriend is awful. I am furious with her dad just looking at that!

Emrys can I ask where you get your veg box from please? I'm not to far from you and am considering switching.
We buy loose veg from markets but a veg box sounds a much better option.

Oh and I would definitely but that cross stitch, it's beautiful.

Woolly This thread dropped off my 'threads I'm on' a few days ago too. How odd!
I hope your DD2 is ok. Is this her first heartbreak? I remember is being awful but my mum was a master at distracting me which helped massively.

What are you crocheting?

No real news here. As of tomorrow morning I will have survived a week of my diet (it's 1200 calories per day which shouldn't be this hard but I eat lots). I also tried yoga at home tonight - I'm not very bendy but I enjoyed it so will keep at it.

Weather has been rubbish here but it brightened up a fair bit earlier so we got a few bits done in the garden and walked the dogs quite far - they're both snoring away now Xmas Grin

EmrysAtticus · 16/06/2019 06:14

I think I will have to get it!

Crazy it's from a company called Welsh Food Box :)

Managed to nip out in the dry yesterday and put netting on my strawberries. I think it is meant to rain again today though :(

NoWordForFluffy · 16/06/2019 07:36

Morning!

I hope everyone is OK today. It's grey here, but meant to be dry until after the kids' bedtime, so that's not so bad. I can cope with overnight rain!

I've got to get to the allotment today. We've decided to lift the onions as we've been snapping flower heads off them, so they won't last much longer in the ground. We'll be overwhelmed with them later. 😂😂

We've just done Father's Day presents in bed and now it's time to get up for breakfast.

I may have been a bit optimistic about getting Snowdog done by tonight, but he'll be done this week!

Emrys, I love that cross stitch. You have to buy it! Xmas Grin

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 16/06/2019 14:14

Thanks Emrys I'll be having a look. Is the quality good? I'm very picky

Where will you store all your onions Fluffy?

Weather is weird here. It was grey and raining this morning, then went very sunny about an hour or so ago. Clouding over again now.

I've spent today getting a few things done around the house so I'm ready for the week ahead.
I sorted through the spare room and my crochet / wool stash and found several mini stockings I don't remember making and some stars so have put them aside to be used to decorate the wreaths I'm making.

Soon to be going to see my dad (and dm, sis, nephews and niece) for a joint birthday (nephew) and father day meal. Just putting a face on so I don't scare the children Xmas Grin

NerosFiddle · 16/06/2019 14:28

Afternoon all.

I've missed so much but hope everyone doing well.

Dmil sadly passed away 2 weeks ago yesterday. Dh was with her when she passed, and the whole family got to say goodbye. I hope in the long term that, that will be of some comfort to them.

EmrysAtticus · 16/06/2019 14:41

Have only had one so far crazy and the quality was good but will keep you updated as I get more :)

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss Nero. It is good that DMIL was with those she loved at the end Flowers

NoWordForFluffy · 16/06/2019 15:08

Oh Nero, how sad. But I think you're right that having said goodbye to everyone will be of comfort to her family going forward. Flowers

Crazy, we'll dry some out for a few weeks and keep them where we normally keep onions. Others we'll chop and freeze. I got a few monsters. And a few tiddlers!

I've now put my kale, 4 squash plants and a row of carrot seed in their place. And I'm now knackered!

Crazy, we're having an odd weather day too. So far it's been grey but dry, sunny and hot, then raining. And it's now back to sunny! It wasn't enough rain to water the newly planted things, so they got watered in.

Our sunflowers are coming on a treat. They'll flower soon. 🌻 My first year rhubarb is also huge, but you're not meant to harvest the first year. It'll be enormous soon. 😂

I hope you enjoyed your lunch, Crazy. 😁

Nero l am so sorry my dear Flowers your poor DH and your family . I know what it is like , no really l do , it's as if you are in a dream and you feel like you are going to wake up any moment. Ahhh bless you all [sad

TheWoollybacksWife · 16/06/2019 20:46

Nero my condolences to you and your DH. I was with both my dad and my mum when they died. It was hard but 20+ years down the line from dad and 6 months from Mum I am glad I did it. They knew we were there and I had the support of my siblings and it has brought us closer together.

Crazy I'm crocheting a nativity and also knitting a cardigan for one of my great nieces. I had Wool Warehouse vouchers from DD1 and DH for my birthday and I have stocked up with yarn. My nativity is supposed to be using up odds and sods of yarn and I have now bought enough new yarn for a throw for our bed and another blanket that I think I'll make for a friend who has recently lost her DH.

Emrys that cross stitch is lovely. Get it. Get it. I'd get it myself but I really don't need any more projects Grin

Mrsmadevans · 16/06/2019 21:29

Crazy l am coping with the pain better thank you sweetie. l am going to physio when my pain is better managed have an appt for the 4th July now , am on CO CODAMOL, GABAPENTIN, ZACIN CREAM, TURMERIC WHICH l BOUGHT FOR MYSELF TO TRY and Diclofenac & Senna Hmm and oh boy am l taking them Grin

I will message Wheels and tell her you were asking after her and that she is missed Smile
Very well done on the diet too it isn't easy but excellent work ! Smile
Emrys hope the strawbs are fine and that your DH is better today m'dear Flowers
Fluffy me/DDS gave DH an only fools and horses set, mug and socks inside , 3 boxes of the huge Malteasers he lurves them Grin and a cd of Morrissy's new album , he likes his new cd, Morrissy is singing covers of other ppl's songs . DH was very happy with them Grin
Hope your DH was happy with his things.Smile your allotment is looking fabulous , you have done so well Smile, reaping what you sowed literally Smile
My Mum said to me this morning 'have you been to Daddy's grave?' before bursting into tears. I said l hadn't been because Dad wouldn't have wanted me to , he hated anything like this , his birthday, Christmas , Easter, you name it he hated it, any celebration, she said 'oh he loved it, looking at the cards and presents off the little ones'. I said back to her that he never showed us any enthusiasm or was grateful for anything we gave him, he never wanted anything ever. She said he was and that he looked at them after we had gone and was pleased , l don't know who this person was . It is all in her head honestly Hmm
DD is back from Manc for a mini break with the girls Grin
gossip one of the girls met someone off Tinder every night they were there a different one every night and returned in the morning to the hotel room doing the walk of shame Grin. My DD was disgusted with her and the other 2 girls were flabbergasted. I have never heard anything like this! They went to a gay bar and she got off with a man who was Pansexual, l don't even know what that means , is it anything to do with Peter Pan Grin
they were thrown out because things were getting a bit steamy Grin. She went outside with him did God knows what with him and then went to meet this other one off Tinder the same night !!! So that is 4 men in 3 nights Shock , l said to my DD she is putting herself in danger and she totally agrees , she said they were worried to death about her the whole trip. I know it is her own business but it just seems wrong to me somehow , l feel a bit sorry for her Sad
Nothing l can do though but all seems to be a bit mad out there on the dating scene imho. I think it is totally different to how it was when l was young and it is very strange to me , l am getting an old fuddy duddy Grin

Morning!

Mrs, that's shocking re your DD's friend! I didn't think the younger generation were like that these days? That was really risky of her.

I'm glad your drug cocktail is working (hopefully the Senna is too!). You'll get far more benefit from physio if you're actually able to move (you'll remember I couldn't have physio because of acute pain too).

It chucked it down here overnight, but the weather looks to be improving from now on, thankfully! I needn't have watered my plants in though, as they got a good soaking last night!

I've never heard of a chilli-based cream, Mrs. It sounds amazing.

BiddyPop · 17/06/2019 11:23

Hi all,
I know I will miss a few but I wanted to at least try and catch up.

Woolly, I'm sorry for your loss and glad that the internment was a good day for the family.

Nero, I'm sorry for your loss too and hope your DH is ok, and you too of course.

MrsMad, you sound like you are really mad (with pain) at the moment - I hope that cocktail of meds and creams kicks in soon for you. And that your friend and her DM are ok after their incident.

Fluffy, your plot seems to be going great, I hope it keeps doing that - just think of small amounts often for weeding!

70s, sorry I missed your Birthday, I hope it was a good one!

Hi Emrys and Fedora, it's always lovely seeing new names (if not faces!) here on the happy thread! Xmas Grin

And if anyone is in touch with PSB and Wheely, I hope they are both doing OK.

I am on a "chasing paperwork" week this week, for various reasons. Various doctors' reports for medical-ish application. Planning for Cub camp this weekend. Needing to organize a couple of coaching sessions in sailing. Summer holiday things including changing DD's entry to a sailing championship while we're away (she's entered but needs to change her sail number). Booking the flights for our Christmas travel (nope, still didn't get that done Xmas Hmm ). And preparing for my new boss arriving next Monday and getting a whole load of work priorities sorted in the meantime.. It will all get done, and I should have some peace and quiet on camp during the day on Saturday (even if not a lot the rest of the time).

Sunshine this morning after a lot of rain overnight. Looks like lighter winds though tomorrow, which will be nice (especially as I am out racing and haven't managed that in 3 weeks - I want it to be fun not a challenge this week!!)

Jacksmadre · 17/06/2019 12:27

Heya I’ve been lurking for a while and plucked up the courage to post. I love love love Christmas and I was so happy to see that there’s people like me out thereGrin. I’ve also noticed that it seems like a general chit chat too which I’d love. I have one little boy, called Jack if you can tell tell by my usernameGrin and he will be 1 at the end of the month so this is our second Christmas as parents and it’s made it so much more magical. Anyway...enough of my rambling, I hope you don’t mind if I join.

EmrysAtticus · 17/06/2019 17:14

Gosh you are always so busy Biddy!

Welcome Jack, Christmas truly is magical with small children and he will understand more each year :) My DS will be almost 4 this year and we will definitely be in full on excitement mode I think.

NerosFiddle · 17/06/2019 17:52

Thank you all for your sympathies. I think DH is doing quite well under the circumstances. I think dc are giving him focus. We are going to go to Liverpool for a couple of days tomorrow with the dc to try and clear our heads a bit.

Biddy is it Canada you are hoping to go to for Christmas? My sister is coming back to Ireland this year for Christmas and the flights are already so expensive.

Welcome all newbies.

The Christmas threads are starting to pick up again. I wonder if the weather is a factor.

EmrysAtticus · 17/06/2019 18:08

I definitely think it's the weather Nero, I am in full on Autumn mode and am wondering why Strictly isn't on Grin

Mrsmadevans · 17/06/2019 20:26

Biddy, thank you my dear l am doing everything l can possibly do to get better . You are as busy as ever ! Have a rest on Saturday if you can Smile
Welcome Jack Smile
Just off to ring Mum Hmm just girding my loins ready Grin
Have a lovely evening everyone Smile

NoWordForFluffy · 17/06/2019 22:49

Welcome, Jacks. Nice to see you!

Mrs, the chilli cream does sound amazing. Did your DD start her job today?

I'm not feeling autumnal yet; can't wait for SCD though! Once the kids' birthdays are out of the way I can think about autumn!

Biddy, busy as ever! And I can't do little and often with weeding as I can't get there that often! So big chunks weekly it is. 😂

I'm almost done with Snowdog 1. Number 2 next!

Sleep now! Night. 😴

Thank you all for the warm welcomes, I was a tad nervous coming into such a close group.

Emrys I’m loving the age Jack is at now although I can’t wait until he understands it all a touch more.

I’m definitely feeling the autumnal vibes🍂...but the weather is looking up for us this weekend, we might even be able to make it to the beach 🏖 Grin.

Fluffy your snow dog is brill, I love cross stitching and was rather good at it when I was younger but I haven’t done any recently. You may have inspired me to take it back upGrin

Morning!

I'm a bit tired; I stayed awake too long last night. One day I'll learn! 🙈😂

I compounded this by having to get up 20 minutes early for a wee. How to make matters worse, eh?!

It looks like it's trying to be sunny. Fingers crossed!

Our house is full of allium...garlic and onions everywhere. Too funny!

OP posts:
Mrsmadevans · 18/06/2019 09:08

Fluffy the house must stink to high heaven 😂😆 am thinking you will have to de-garlic yourself before you go to work 😂😂😂
DD did start yesterday, she is very keen on it. As a bonus she is working 12 till 9 on Thursday and can watch the Pink contest ......OMG she is so lucky. Apparently they can buy one get one free for any event . I told her to go to everything she can for the next 9 months and to make the most of it . She won't get another opportunity to do this again but you never know 😀
Well done on your Snowdog ! ❄️ 🐕No emoji for Snowdog so must make one up for you lol
Have a lovely day everyone 😀❤️
