New month coincides with the need for a new thread!

The last one kept us going for over 2 months, so let's see how we do this time!

Nero, I'm so sorry to hear about your MiL. Flowers

Crazy, I'm sure you'll get better at knitting; practice makes perfect.

Biddy, ouch re your back. I hope you recover soon. And yay to your Canadian adventure at Christmas!

Lobster, it's the bookmark so you return to where you left off if you press it when you come back to the thread.

Mrs, ouch to you too! I'm wearing myself off amitriptyline at the moment. It's all I take now. I'm glad you avoided codeine though; it's no fun being bunged up!

I'm glad your mum is OK at night now too. Good news!

I've attached the cross stitches I did for the kids when they were born. I'm very proud of them!

No cross stitch tonight; I'm tired! Tomorrow I'll have a go. 😁

Mrsmadevans · 22/05/2019 21:12

Lobby don't worry about it , l am sure we have all been banned as some time or another Grin l think l was banned for a spot of troll hunting once Grin

lostlobster · 22/05/2019 21:37

Mrs We had an ace time, thank you for saying I’ll be a good mummy, it means so much...especially as I’m getting closer to the end of this pregnancy because the realisation that I’m actually going to be a mum is starting to set in.

TheWoollybacksWife · 22/05/2019 21:46

Nero so sorry to hear about your MIL

MrsMad I've made fat sheep again Blush

Lovely cross stitch Fluffy

Mrsmadevans · 22/05/2019 23:08

Lobby , you will be fine honestly, you go by your gut instinct and you won't go wrong. I loved you sleeping with JJ's blanky , it is the little things that make all the difference Smile
Woolly.....l bet the fat sheep are lovely Grin just don't say owt to your friend on Friday and she won't even notice Grin

Morning!

Another bright day. It's a bit clammy though! My kale seedlings have popped through now. That will go in the ground when the onions come out next month.

We've got flowers on our raspberries now, which I'm excited about. And the strawberries are going great guns both here and at the allotment! We've got bees all over the place, which I adore. 🐝♥️

Thank god it's my Friday today. I've barely any work to do as my file count is so low and it's terminally dull to say the least. I've never talked so much at work in my life, as I'm bored rigid. Ho hum!

OP posts:
TheWoollybacksWife · 23/05/2019 07:06

Is your notice period affecting your file count Fluffy?

Last day of school for DS and hopefully the last day of slab cutting for the patio 🙉. It won't be finished until tomorrow though. It looks like Saturday is going to be sunny so the washing machine will be on overdrive.

NoWordForFluffy · 23/05/2019 07:32

Kind of, Woolly. They took me off allocation as soon as I got my op date. This means I've had no new files since the beginning of Feb. Since then I've settled a load, closed some for no prospects of success and some which were urgent went to other people when I was off. So I'm probably at about 2/3 normal capacity. They obviously won't put me back on allocation as I'm leaving.

However, a bigger part of the problem is what's going on with the files I have and, for various reasons, about 1/3 of my files don't need any input from me at the moment as they're with other parties (barrister / medical report obtaining / waiting for Court action / being chased for being AWOL). All of these things mean I'm scratching round for stuff to do. I actually spent 30 minutes on hold to a Court the other day, just because I could!

Do you let your washing get darked on, Woolly? I'd get a head start overnight on Friday in your shoes!

OP posts:
TheWoollybacksWife · 23/05/2019 08:02

I have no objection to the dark. It's that warm overnight that I might get one load virtually dry by Saturday morning. I may even do a load for the dryer today if everyone's baskets are full. DH is away with work until the end of next week so I know he's going to come home with a load of laundry so I need to keep on top of the stuff here. DD2 comes home next week too so she'll have the machine working overtime.

lostlobster · 23/05/2019 10:54

Good morning everyone👋🏻

I managed to be on time to work this morningGrin the weather is delightful by me but it is very muggy, I’m thinking a thunderstorm might be on the cards soon. I was meant to see my friends yesterday but that has been rescheduled for today, the other half is putting Joshua’s cot up in his room so that will be done when I get home. I’m in love with the sound of your allotment Fluffy raspberries and strawberries are amazing!. 🍓

Alright then, I better get back to work. I’ll catch up with you all later

BiddyPop · 23/05/2019 10:59

MrsMad, to quote a wonderful singer (about the doctor):

He said "Girl you'd better try to have fun no matter what you do"

Grin

Fluffy, I hope you enjoyed some nice music at least with your 30 minutes on hold!! Hopefully you get them all cleared by the end, and have time to wander about saying a nice goodbye to everyone too. (If they are not too busy as well, that is!).

CrazyBaubles · 23/05/2019 14:14

Neros I'm so sorry about your MIL. Your poor DH 💐

Biddy A Canadian adventure sounds amazing. I've only been to Canada once (but going again this summer) and I absolutely love it. Which part(s) will you be seeing? I have visions of it being wonderfully snowy for you

lobster Thank you for the well wishes. My dad is the worst patient, he hates being ill and this accident has slowed him right down for a few weeks. He's decided he knows better than everyone and trying to convince us all that he can go back to work 🙄

MrsMad Tell your DH thank you for the gardening help. As it's a big area we may have to tarp it if that's what helps?

Fluffy Those cross stitches are beautiful, I'm not surprised you're proud!

I will persevere with the knitting, I'm just not very patient if I'm not good at things quickly 😂

Woolly I think I'd quite like a fat little sheep!
😱 at your washing getting darked on (although that's probably because we back on to woods and if you leave clothes overnight here they come in covered in bugs / spiders

I've just spent my lunch sat outside in the sunshine. Now back at my desk as it's going to be a long day today

Mrsmadevans · 23/05/2019 14:22

Afternoon everyone Smile
Hope everyone is fine !
Lobby hope you are having a good day at work m'dear Smile
I have not been to vote , l went to pick up DD1 from staying overnight at my Mums only to discover the freezer has been switched off and all the food is spoiled. I have had to clear it out and am still hung over from the Amitriptyline Hmm it's damn strong stuff !
Your work sounds great atm for you Fluffy, gives you time to wind down from the job . l think the same as Biddy Smile. The allotment sounds as if it is coming on brilliantly well done m'dear Smile
Thank you for the song lyrics Biddy and they are so true Smile
Woolly, talking about washing getting darked on , in the olden days the women where l lived thought it was shameful to leave the washing out overnight . It just wasn't the done thing don't cha know lol Grin.
What the hell was that all about , judgemental lot when you think about it lol ?
Have just spent 5 mins looking for the original song that is the ad Music for Koppaburg and l found it ! little things ......
here it is and it's lovely ....enjoy Smile

Mrsmadevans · 23/05/2019 14:35

Crazy x posted with you because l was looking for' l need your loving' by the Korgis Grin
I have just asked DH re the tarpaulin he seems to think 8ft sheets of black plastic would be the best but l did say re the environmental aspect of the plastic waste but he said that you were doing a great job by not using weedkiller in the first place Hmm. He said they sell it for the purpose of weed killing . l think it is prob the easiest because it is so light and will be able to cover a larger area. Hope you enjoyed your lunch the weather is beautiful here today Smile

NoWordForFluffy · 23/05/2019 16:03

Crazy, your best bet is to dig, dig, dig. Get the roots out then cover with plastic sheet / tarp to finish the job. Don't use weed killer as it's nasty stuff.

Mrs, being quiet is my idea of absolute hell on Earth. I detest it! If I'm not busy it's a killer and the days are so slow...and they want me to do 3 months of it! Kill me now.

Who turned your mum's freezer off? That's not good.

I used to get an amitriptyline hangover. I don't now though. I just get a headache if I don't take it! Though maybe not now bearing in mind I'm weaning off it.

OP posts:
Mrsmadevans · 23/05/2019 16:34

Fluffy l know you hate being quiet , they will give you work l am sure , if not then elbow some of the others and get them to give you some of theirs if you can Smile
I didn't like to tell Crazy the truth re the digging for victory against the roots Blush you are stronger than me Fluffy Grin
Mum has had a mains water leak , it is a huge leak and it is the fifth week of it ongoing and my DSis and her DH have taken control of it from the off and declared that Mum won't have to pay a penny to get it done. So here we are 5 weeks ltr with Mum having to pay for the lot , so much for them 'working for Welsh Water for 20 years and having contacts' idiots! They have been retired from them for 18 years ! They have no say at all with them Hmm
Anyway, freezer plug had the switch pressed down from the piping that had been put in ready for the leak , someone has been looking at the piping obviously and just dropped it down and let it rest on the switch. Idiots !! I have no words am just fuming yet again the mess has been left for me to clean up Sad of course l am Cinders the cleaner Hmm
I don't think these tablets are agreeing with me at all , l feel very angry and fed up at the whole scenario. I only took half a 10mg tablet , God knows what effect they would make me feel if l took the full 10mgs, it does say on the leaflet don't give to anyone suicidal Shock l am not suicidal but l can see the draw Sad
and breathe .....
I have been basking in the sun today and not done a thing since cleaning up my Mum's freezer. That was enough Hmm
Have a lovely afternoon everyone Smile

NoWordForFluffy · 23/05/2019 20:13

How come your mum has to pay, Mrs? Don't the water company pay if it's the mains? Typical of your sister though. Angry

Unfortunately work distribution doesn't work like that for us. You have your own files and work on those. When you're away, nobody works on them unless it's urgent; it's not the done thing to work on somebody else's files (we all work differently!). So, no work means no work. Hmm

I did volunteer to do something for someone today (procedural, not substantive), but there isn't much work in that category to do, sadly.

You'll get used to amitriptyline. Or maybe I'm just impervious to its effects!

OP posts:
Mrsmadevans · 23/05/2019 21:26

Fluffy, the burst is nothing to do with Welsh Water it is on Mum's ground and they say she is liable to pay for the work to repair it, l have tired the house Ins too but they don't want to know because the burst is not in the house . She is on a meter as well so it is busy whirring around like a whirling dervish and the money is racking up . My Dad's fault, he would insist upon a meter and made our lives a misery over the damn water usage too Grin
You poor thing with no work , can you take stuff in to do or do some studying or updating of your knowledge of your work while you are there . I think l would do my best to wrestle some stuff off the others or
BEG, STEAL OR BORROW Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 24/05/2019 09:28

That's a real shame re the water. So who's tried to fix it? If they're being too slow in fixing it I'd try to get them to pay for some of the increased bill.

I've got physio (private) this morning to try to loosen me up before my NHS physio next week. I'm stiff as a board after having to sleep in a stupid position while in a sling and I reckon a bit of manipulation by him will sort me out!

It's a bit clammy here again. I hate clammy weather. Hopefully it'll burn off later!

OP posts:
BiddyPop · 24/05/2019 09:52

Crazy, when we first got our allotment, it hadn't been worked in a couple of years so the parts I was not working initially, I covered with a newspaper opened out and then cardboard boxes opened out and laid flat, held down with lots of large stones. It didn't kill off everything, but killed off a lot and weakened the scutch grass (couch grass?) significantly so it was a lot easier to then dig over when we were ready. I think we left it about 6 months before we had time to do any digging on that section.

lostlobster · 24/05/2019 11:37

Morning everyone. I had a crap day yesterday, I went out with my friends and one of them out of nowhere told me that she doesn’t understand why I’m excited to be having a child as ‘its not like I’m a real mum until I have at least 2’. It’s really upset me, although I know it stupid

BiddyPop · 24/05/2019 12:17

Then I am not a real mum and never will be, Lobster. As I only have 1, and while I love her dearly, she is hard enough work and life is hectic enough that I am sticking at one.

Ignore your DF, that's rubbish talking - there are plenty of Mums who only have 1 DC, sometimes that is even adopted!!, shock, horror Hmm, and all of those are totally and utterly "proper Mums"!!

(In case that comes across wrong in writing, I think that once you are a Mum, whether to 1 DC or 20, whether born naturally or CS, whether your own or IVF or embryo adoption or adopted or fostered - in other words HOWEVER you became a Mum, once you ARE a Mum, you are a "PROPER MUM"!!!)

lostlobster · 24/05/2019 12:27

Thank you Biddy. I know you’re right and I knew full well when she’s said it that she was being stupid but my hormones are everywhere so I think that’s why it hit so hard. We think Joshua will be our only, ive had a difficult pregnancy and we only have a 2 bed house so if we have another and it’s a little girl then we’d have to move. But I’ve been feeling guilty about not giving him a sibling, so I think that’s another reason why it’s upset me. I think I’ll be cutting her out.
