New month coincides with the need for a new thread!

The last one kept us going for over 2 months, so let's see how we do this time!

I probably shouldn't confess this, but I killed my cacti Blush In my defence, it was because the cats kept knocking it over and all the soil would fall out. It just gave up in the end!

Hopefully a supervisory role will give you more to work with if PI does go tits up, Fluffy. Shame about your day off, though.

When we moved, I had an 'essentials' box with kettle/tea/coffee/cups/cordial/loo roll, and a 'cleaning' box with bleach/gloves/scourers/antibac wipes. They went in the car with us so I knew where they were.

Hi chips. Nice to see you! Hope you and the mini chips are doing well Cake

Mrsmadevans · 09/05/2019 08:26

Morning 🌞 well there's no sun here yet but l live in hope. Carol the weather is at the Windsor horse show , the horses are just beautiful. So well groomed and handsome ♥️🧲🐴🐎. Has Carol had done work done to her eyes? I have not watched her for ages but have noticed she has these strange hollow bits under her eyes ?
Hewont , good luck with the rest of the packing and the move . Hope it goes really well for you all 🏠🏘️🏡😁

Mrsmadevans · 09/05/2019 08:55

Am back ! Had to go mid post , Mum phoned me 😁
Fluffy ...Firefly girl well done on getting rid of the cacti . My DH is emotionally attached to ours or else ours would be gone too 🤣🤣🤣
Have a great day everyone 😃

NerosFiddle · 09/05/2019 09:25

Morning all.

Mrs good to see you're back.

When I was 38 weeks pregnant with dd we had sold our house and had to move into my parents. We then moved into our new house when it was finally ready, when she was 6 weeks old. I hired movers to pack up everything and store it. It cost a fortune but it made life so much easier at the time.

hewontstopshitting · 09/05/2019 12:52

We’ve finished packing!!🥳.

Fluffy It’s grey and cloudy and the grounds wet because it rained cats and dogs overnight but there is no rain in sight!. Other than work and schools the one thing I am grateful for about moving is I’ve got rid of so much tat, I’ve been very ‘Marie Kondo’ whilst packing and if something doesn’t spark joy then it’s in the bin.

Firefly I wouldn’t be able to keep a cactus alive for half a minute, I don’t know how I’ve managed to have two children😂. You and Fluffy are absolute life savers, we’ve already packed our tea/coffee and cleaning essentials so DH is off to the shops to grab them for moving.

NerosFiddle everything’s done now but I do wish I had gotten some help, the stress is unreal.

It’s a busy day ahead for us now, DH and my DF are taking everything to the new house and unpacking as much as they can (only for me to go and do it all again because they won’t put things in the right place). DM and DSF are taking the boys out for a few hours and then I’m giving our old house (it’s so sad to say that) a spring clean before we hand over the keys 🔑.

Mrsmadevans · 09/05/2019 16:47

Nero! Thanks so much my dear ❤️ it's good to be back 😃 l think you had the right idea when you paid extra for the moving ppl. Great idea! 😃
Hope everything is going well with the move Hewont 💐🎍🌼🌸🚪🏡🏡🏘️
Off up to Mum's soon probably be back LTR 😁

sideorderofchips · 09/05/2019 17:48

Heya

Me and the minis are ok. Husband is still living at home at the moment. Not sure what’s going on but just living day to say

Health took a sharp downfall but stable now

Getting started on Christmas again now!!!

Love to all x

TheWoollybacksWife · 09/05/2019 19:02

Hi Chips - lovely to see you back and glad to read that things are stabilising for you health wise.

Hewont I hope you are in your new home and settling in nicely. We moved 13 months ago and I never want to move again Grin the worst thing was the 6 weeks or so that it took to get broadband. You can only imagine what that was like with 2 people trying to work at home, plus a teenager plus an 11 year old who treats his games console as a fifth limb.

hewontstopshitting · 09/05/2019 19:16

And we’re in🥵. I’m never moving again!!!. It just doesn’t feel like home, DH says I’m being very silly and of course it won’t feel like home just yet but I’ve spent the last half hour walking around the house to get used to it. I’m going to have a bubble bath with some candles and hope that that makes it feel more homely (and also soothes my muscles after spending half the day scrubbing). On the plus side, we have a Tesco express just down the road!! We can get milk at 11pm if we want to🤣 and the supermarket is only a 5 minute drive away, which is a big difference to the 55 minute roundtrip we used to have to do. I’ll be in the shop every day😂. I also know exactly where I want to put the Christmas tree😉

NoWordForFluffy · 09/05/2019 20:21

You'll be sorted in a week or so, Wontstop. It'll all be a bad dream soon!

Chips, I'm glad you're OK and on the mend health-wise.

Nero, I wouldn't fancy that at 38 weeks! I bet you were glad when all that was over.

Well, I resigned today. I need to negotiate my notice period if possible, but that's a job for next week.

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 09/05/2019 21:52

MrsMad I'm so glad you're back. Obviously only post if you're feeling up to it 💐
How is your mum doing? And have things changed with your sister at all?

Thank you for asking after my Ddad and Ddog (and I completely understood who you meant by DD1 Xmas Grin )
Dad is ok, bruised, sore and very slow moving around. His bruises are quite a sight to behold but he has been told he needs to move regularly so he's annoying everyone by doing laps around the house 🙄
Ddog has an infection in her mouth / gum but the lovely vet prescribed antibiotics and painkiller and she's almost back to her normal self. Treatment finishes on the weekend and then we have to see if the infection comes back.
Today I brought my dad to my house and left him for the day while DH and I went to work - he figured the dog is good company and they could look after each other Xmas Grin

Lauryloo what are your garden plans? Ours is like a jungle Blush

Firefly it looks as though a garden centre has burst into your house 😂
Please update us on your allotment - I love Fluffys pics when she posts them (am so jealous of people wit green fingers)

I feel I have to defend cacti though! My kitchen cactus Clive is huge and the bathroom one Claud is coming on well now I've taken over it's care from DH
They aren't spiky buggers who sting you though.

Woolly can I ask how tall your nativity figures are?

Fluffy CONGRATULATIONS!! 🥳🥳
How do you feel about resigning from your current place? Are they likely to make your notice period easier for you?

side Welcome back. Glad to hear your health has evened out Thanks

hewont You have to give it time unfortunately, but I'm sure with a bit of 'lived in' mess and time to get used to it, you'll soon feel at home.
Most importantly - where is the Christmas going? I'm still hankering after a bay window for mine when we eventually move!

I am so tired. I have the beginning of a cold or bug I think (runny nose, ear ache, sore throat). I need it to bugger off until Saturday because I'm out to see a show and drink cocktails tomorrow (belated Mother's Day gift so going with my mum).

FireflyGirl · 09/05/2019 23:19

Congratulations wontstop. Fingers crossed you all settle in well.

We'll done, Fluffy onwards and upwards!

What show are you seeing, Crazy?

I signed for the allotment this afternoon. It's 50ft x 55ft, which is full sized I think. as well as the weeds, it has 3 currant bushes, 3 small patches of rhubarb dotted about, 2 ant nests and a decent sized shed. I dragged DS out in the rain for half an hour (he has full waterproofs, but needs better gloves - his little hands were frozen). He enjoyed exploring and then hiding in the shed from the rain. There's broken glass and the abandoned base from a greenhouse, and some holes where something (probably fruit trees) was dug out, so DH and I are going to go on Saturday when DS is at my mum's and make it safe. But it's pretty much a blank canvas. I'll see if I can find a photo.

FireflyGirl · 09/05/2019 23:21

Photo! We're right next to the car park.

NoWordForFluffy · 09/05/2019 23:27

Ooh, that's a lovely space, Firefly! Best get prepping those beds to get your plants into.

Crazy, thank you! I'm OK about resigning actually. It's a job that should really suit me, so it's a good move. And I think work won't be great about my notice period, but we shall see.

I hope you feel better soon.

OP posts:
hewontstopshitting · 09/05/2019 23:30

Fluffy I know you’re right, I’m just going to think about the positives now and hope we settle in soon. How are you feeling about resigning and the new job?

Crazy Thank you☺️. In the corner by the fireplace we have a coffee table, so will get a small real tree and put it on there. It doesn’t sound like much but I can already picture it. I’m thinking about putting a wreath on the staircase also. I hope you don’t get a bug I’ve only just got over mine, this time of year they’re rife.

Firefly Thank you, loving the allotment, it’s huge!

hewontstopshitting · 09/05/2019 23:31

I think I’m going to get some sleep now, I’m feeling a little better about our home after cuddling up on the settee with a glass of wine.

TheWoollybacksWife · 10/05/2019 07:41

Crazy it's the Jean Greenhowe knitted nativity and the figures come out at about 8" for the males figures (they are all standing) and about 5.5" for Mary as she is sitting down. I made one a few years ago and donated it to Woolly Hugs who auctioned it with the proceeds going to MIND. The photo below is the one I did.

TheWoollybacksWife · 10/05/2019 07:43

It would help if the photo attached 🤦🏻‍♀️

FireflyGirl · 10/05/2019 13:25

Afternoon. Drizzly and miserable again today. Ho hum. At least it's Friday.

That's beautiful, Woolly. Are you keeping this version?

How are you feeling today, wontstop?

How's work been today, Fluffy?

hewontstopshitting · 10/05/2019 13:29

Woolly That nativity is ace!!

Firefly I’m feeling a tad better, I didn’t know where I was when I woke up this morningGrin but since having a normal day with the boys it’s feeling a bit more homely. We’re going to talk a dog for the walk later and get used to the area.

hewontstopshitting · 10/05/2019 13:29

That should be THE dog for A walk. I’m not just taking any random dog out

TheWoollybacksWife · 10/05/2019 16:48

Thank you for the nativity love. I'm making it to give away again Firefly - most likely to my friend who is a Reception class teacher. Whether she wants it or not Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 10/05/2019 17:48

It started dry but grey here today, rained a bit, then the sun came out and it's lovely now!

I've been off today, Firefly. I don't do Fridays, for the time being! I'm going to play hard ball next week with regards my notice period, I think. See how HR respond to my email chasing a leaving date.

Woolly, I still love your knitted nativity. I can see Reception kids loving it too!

I've been at the allotment today. More bloody weeding, then some sweetcorn and dwarf beans got put in the ground as well as some leeks. Two more rows of leeks to go and that's me out of space. It's my first time doing leeks, so we shall see how they go!

My neck feels a bit crispy; I think I caught the sun a bit!

TheWoollybacksWife · 10/05/2019 18:11

Congratulations on your new job Fluffy. Is this new role closer to home? Shame about your Fridays but hopefully it's only temporary.

NoWordForFluffy · 10/05/2019 18:33

It's about 1km closer to home, Woolly! 😂 It's on the Albert Dock, so nearer to civilisation John Lewis than before. Grin

And thank you everyone for the congratulations; I feel like it's been a very long time coming!
