New month coincides with the need for a new thread!

The last one kept us going for over 2 months, so let's see how we do this time!

After a few showers it's sunny now. Still cold in the wind though. That washing will be in as soon as it's dry; I can't trust it to stay dry!

Our washing is out now thank heavens. DH is about to take the dog for a walk and I think we might join him

NoWordForFluffy · 06/05/2019 16:28

It's gorgeous here now, if a touch breezy!

OP posts:
hewontstopshitting · 06/05/2019 16:49

it’s still very overcast here and still wet from the rain. i love a walk when it’s like this it makes me feel very autumnal, I might even make some soup for supper.

lauryloo · 06/05/2019 22:34

Rained here today.

Went to a steam rally and had to leave after half an hour as it was raining and dd's wheel chair wheels got tangled in the grass which was flattened rather than cut

Was a bit of an overwhelming day. 4 years in and I'm still adapting to being a special needs mum!

Morning! Grey start today, but will hopefully perk up.

I turfed most of my chilli and pepper plants into the poly greenhouse yesterday; I'm sick of them taking up space inside. I've a few small ones left to transfer another time once they've grown a bit. It's grow or kill time, frankly! Grin

Back into the office today; the 5.15 alarm was harsh!

Laury, sorry yesterday was a bit of a test for you; there's always something to try you, isn't there?

OP posts:
hewontstopshitting · 07/05/2019 08:31

Mornin’ everyone!

Laury I’m sorry yesterday was overwhelming for you, I hope that today can be a touch kinder.

Fluffy Do you grow many things? I’ve never even been able to keep watercress alive.

A V+D bug has well and truly hit out house DH and I have been up all night with it and it’s looking like DS1 is coming down with something as well. I’m keeping everything crossed that DS2 doesn’t get it. I think our day will consist of lots of guggy eggs and CBeebies. We’re also looking at schools for DS1 so my emotions are everywhere.

lauryloo · 07/05/2019 15:26

hi all

feeling more positive and pro active today - we have been in our new build 2 years and finally planning the garden so that is keeping me busy

looking for an all terrain buggy for the little one too so we don't have a repeat of yesterday. A wheelchair is lovely for her independence, its just not ideal for some situations!

@hewontstopshitting - hope the bug passes soon!

Mrsmadevans · 07/05/2019 16:56

Mrs!!!!!!! FlowersFlowersFlowers

How lovely to see you back. I hope you're safely back with us now. ☺️☺️

Wontstop, I do grow all sorts, yes. We pack loads into our small garden and I got an allotment last July, so have my first full year with that on the go too this year!

How's the D&V going?! I hope it's on its way out of the building now.

Laury, planning your garden will be fun. How big is it?

OP posts:
FireflyGirl · 07/05/2019 19:01

We're hitting grow or kill time here as well, Fluffy. If I remember rightly, we're about the same distance north, but opposite sides of the country. Photos are my dining table. Storm took my plastic greenhouse again.

But! I bought a proper greenhouse off Facebook, just need to put it back together.

And! We have been offered an allotment. I sign for it on Thursday. I will need lots of tips!

Hope you've managed to contain the bug, won'tstop. Nothing worse than it passing through the family - we've had towels for sheets on DS's bed before Blush

How exciting, Laurie. What sort of things are you planning?

Flowers MrsM

FireflyGirl · 07/05/2019 19:03

Oops, forgot the photos Blush

As you can imagine, we are not eating at the dining table at the moment. We've been using DS's little table and DH and I have been sat on the floor Wink

That was like my utility room until I evicted it all, Firefly! And my poly has had bean, pea, sweetcorn, brassica and sunflowers in. It looks like we're growing weed due to our daylight light!

You should buy the RHS allotment planner. I got mine cheap on eBay. It was very useful!

What state is your allotment in? How big is it?

I need to get my dwarf beans (first batch) in the ground on Friday. My second batch is germinating outside right now.

You should grow what you eat, I think. That's what we do. I've about one billion (slight exaggeration, maybe) leeks to get in the ground.

lauryloo Planning a garden is so fun, what ideas do you have? A terrain buggy sounds fab as well.

NoWordForFluffy The waiting lists for the allotments by us are as long as me arm. We live quite far out in a village and there isn’t a shop in our village, so I’ve wanted to grow my own and be a touch more self sufficient. But I’d have to get all my neighbours to agree to it as we share a garden.

FireflyGirl you and fluffy are putting me to shame here, I might try and give cress heads another go and start off slow.

Thank you for the well wishes on the D+V, DH managed to get to work today but I wasn’t able to do much, DS1 is back in nappies for the day (he still has them for the night), but touch wood DS2 isn’t showing any signs of it. The house just has that horrible sicky atmosphere to it.

FireflyGirl · 07/05/2019 20:03

Wait until you're all feeling better, then get the windows open wontstop. It's windy enough to blow the bugs away or freeze them!

It looks to be a full size plot, Fluffy. Beds defined by wooden beams rather than raised, with about 1/3 missing, 2 small clumps of rhubarb in opposite corners, some currant/berry bushes that I probably won't be able to identify until they fruit, and lots of weeds. There's a reasonable looking shed, though, and a fence with a gate which was the first thing I was going to do to contain DS! I'll post pics after I sign for it on Thursday!

NoWordForFluffy · 07/05/2019 20:08

Wow. I'm jealous as I'm only a half plot. Our waiting lists are so long they divided plots up a few years ago.

I bet yours is cheaper than mine too!

Can't wait to see your photos, Firefly.

Wontstop, gardening is always trial and error, no matter how long you've been doing it. Start small and go from there!

Your allotment is amazing Fluffy! You have worked so hard well done m'dear! Firefly your seedlings and plants are fabulous well done ! Smile
Hope l am back for good now too Smile
Have to go now to stay with Mum for the night , don't ask Grin
Have a great evening everyone Smile

TheWoollybacksWife · 07/05/2019 20:36

Have a good night MrsMad

I'm in awe of you gardeners - I've just got my windowsills back after DH filled them with geraniums over the winter. I might try some chilli plants to keep us in chilli sauce but I think that might be my limit.

DH is watching the footy upstairs so I've got the big tv to myself. I'm watching the Kenneth Branagh Murder on the Orient Express and cracking on with my Nativity. Mary and the Baby Jesus are done and I'm halfway up Joseph's gown. Xmas Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 07/05/2019 20:39

...I'm halfway up Joseph's gown.

Well, Woolly, that sounds well dodgy! Does Mary know?!

OP posts:
FireflyGirl · 07/05/2019 20:46

Waves madly at MrsM

I think we'll probably only work half of it this year, Fluffy and cover the rest over. We've been lucky, only been waiting since October (I wanted to sign up ages ago, but DH wasn't keen and I need him to do the donkey work). I thought it would be longer; we're in a little village where there's a large amount of retired people, and there are only 21 plots. I think they said£26 p/a, but there's no water on site which is a bit disappointing. We'll cope, though - we're right next to the car park, so not too far to lug water from the car.

FireflyGirl · 07/05/2019 20:52

DH loves Murder on the Orient Express, Woolly. That's always his answer whenever we try and guess whodunnit on TV programmes!

...I'm halfway up Joseph's gown snigger

NoWordForFluffy · 07/05/2019 20:55

Ah, Firefly, I did our donkey work. With a torn shoulder tendon! My allotment would be rubbish if I'd had to rely on DH as he's not as bloody minded motivated as me.

CishAndFips · 07/05/2019 21:36

mrsmad so lovely to see you back Flowers. Ive had a massive declutter over the weekend and thrown out 9 binbags full of stuff. I bought 2 new solid oak wardrobes too. It was an impulse buy but DS didnt have a wardrobe and ours was falling to bits. I found them on shpock for £70 each so very pleased with my bargain.

Its a work day for me tomorrow but then I have a week off as DH and his parents are going to watch the welsh open (darts). Im not looking forward to 4 days of solo parenting but immensely looking forward to the fri and mon to myself.

TheWoollybacksWife · 07/05/2019 21:59

I am indeed well dodgy 😂 and I now need to peel DH and DS off my bedroom ceiling after the football.
