New month coincides with the need for a new thread!

The last one kept us going for over 2 months, so let's see how we do this time!

Afternoon!

Busy old day today at the allotment, as well as the school run either end of the day.

I got so many weeds out of the ground...still loads more to go though. 😫😫😫

Hi all. I'm so glad to be back on the thread after a stressful few weeks. MIL needed to fly abroad as her FIL was very ill but she lives on and runs a farm-come-livery yard-come-rescue / taking in waifs and strays centre. DH left to run it as it was school hols here.
In typical me form, 2 days after he went, my df had an accident in work and ended up in hospital (RG rather than NH for MrsMad if you're still following). He's home now I've been so worried.
On top of this DDog1 seems to be deteriorating before my eyes, she's ok ish but seems more and more oblivious to the world around her.
All in all it's been a stressful couple of weeks and I've missed the gently cheerfulness here!

I've had a read through the thread - the allotment is looking great Fluffy.

We booked our Christmas flights a week or so ago. Bit premature as my annual leave hasn't actually been approved yet but the prices will only increase and right now they're cheap (we're going to Scotland - work allowing of course 🤞)

Morning!

Crazy, what a nightmare all round. I hope everyone is OK and recovering.

We've just been to Booths and spent a small fortune on cheese and reduced meat. The freezer is now full! And we're going to have a BBQ later on now too. It's not hugely warm, but it's sunny and the garden is sheltered so we should be OK!

It was chilly last night, but no frost. Hopefully we're getting past the cold nights now.

Does anyone have any exciting weekend plans?

TheWoollybacksWife · 04/05/2019 20:05

I've forgotten whereabouts in Scotland you said you were off to Crazy - I hope it's somewhere that you stand a chance of a white Christmas.

I don't know about exciting weekend plans Fluffy - I've had my roots done 😂 and tomorrow I'm painting the shed.

I've done half a figure of my knitted nativity and I'm currently making the manger. I did a big wool order this afternoon using vouchers that I got for my birthday and added some toy stuffing and a ball of wool suitable for a shepherd's robe so I should have enough stuff to complete it now. I'm going to do it alongside a couple of other projects so as long as I get it finished for October half term I'll be happy.

I've also booked a full day trip to Liverpool for DS and I in May half term. I'm spending a night with MIL and a night in a hotel so I'm very excited about having time in my home city and showing DS around. We may even spend a day at the seaside with some cousins if I can persuade SIL.

NoWordForFluffy · 04/05/2019 20:21

Well, Woolly, you have plans, if nothing else!

I'm glad you got May sorted, with a bit of compromise. Smile Which seaside will you go to? We tend to go to Formby, rather than locally, as it's a nicer beach.

We've partially sorted the poly greenhouses today and got the garden into some order. Thank goodness. We're getting there now!

TheWoollybacksWife · 04/05/2019 20:32

Possibly New Brighton. SIL went recently with her DC and had a whale of a time. You can't beat a bit of Edwardian glamour and we could go over on the ferry as something different for DS.

FireflyGirl · 04/05/2019 20:49

Hello all. Sorry, I dropped off for a couple of months. I blinked and it's May!!

Hope everyone is well. I am going to try and catch up with the thread, but probably not the previous ones, so please forgive me if I have missed something major.

We've made a good start on the bank holiday - took DS to Diggerland. He was in pre-schooler heaven! It was perishing, though! Where did the warmth go?!?

Due to previously mentioned life getting in the way, I'm less organised than normal. All my friends'/cousins' kids are sorted though. I always do pyjamas and books, so character.com sale in February and whenever I see anything come up on BookPeople. It's the grownups I always struggle with!

NoWordForFluffy · 04/05/2019 22:14

We don't buy for many adults, thankfully. But I know what you mean about it being tricky.

Is Diggerland good? What is the top age for it do you think? I reckon DS would love it there!

CishAndFips · 04/05/2019 22:34

Evening all no exciting plans for us this weekend today i have blitzed the bedroom and tomorrow is the bathroom and living room.

CishAndFips · 04/05/2019 22:38

Pressed send to soon. fluffy i love new Brighton we love taking the DC'S over on the ferry.
firefly you sound very organised. Ive suprised my self with how organised i am this year im never usually this organised im about 1/3 done already.

CrazyBaubles · 04/05/2019 22:50

Woolly please keep your fingers crossed for my leave from work being agreed! Tentative plan at the moment is to travel up to Mull for Christmas, a few days in Loch Ness (because there's a b&b, pub and cafe that we love so much I can't bare to in the country and not visit), then Edinburg for Hogmanay. Not sure of our chances for snow but fingers crossed.

Your plans sound fun. I've never been to Liverpool but it's ok my list.

PS - I've just added a crochet nativity set to my to-make list so thank you for the idea.

Fluffy how is your shoulder doing?

Firefly did you have a different name before?
Welcome back to the thread!

Cish your day sounds very similar to mine with all the housework
I'm impressed you're a third of the way there already!

I have done 2 lots of housework today - mine and DMs (df is out of action, bed rest with the very odd walk around the house is all he can manage and dm is away). It's been very boring.

I like the number patterns that are in sequence (and I'm not a Math-sey type !)

Diggerland is fun, we took my DS/DD ( I think they were 6+8, not sure what the age limits are but I think there's a height restriction) then when they were in Yr 6 at Junior , the pupils organised a money raising event and got to chose where they went .......they chose Diggerland . (So 10-11 yo )

I drove a JCB digger ( with DD,DS.DH and one of the Diggerland blokes all crammed in the cab)

It is muddy though .

NoWordForFluffy · 05/05/2019 10:35

Morning!

Crazy, the shoulder is coming on, thank you. I'm getting more movement back. Annoyingly stuff like cleaning and hanging washing out, so reaching up etc, is good physio! I'm back to sleeping on it, almost all night, apparently, so that's good.

I've already been roped into loads of Lego-building this morning. It's so LOUD rummaging through the boxes!

I need to put some sprouts into the allotment today, which involves more bloody weeding. I can't say I'm feeling the motivation right now it has to be said!

We'll look at Diggerland; it sounds good!

We booked next year's summer holiday last night as you can get a good deal by booking this far in advance. North Wales for us for a change (we alternate with the Lakes in the main).

FireflyGirl · 05/05/2019 10:44

We went to the one in Yorkshire, Fluffy and I don't know if they're all the same. Minimum height to go on most things was 90cm, minimum height to drive quite a few things was 110cm but you can sit them on your knee and they can do it with you. DS is about 105cm, and apart from a couple of things which were aimed at tweens/teens (min height 140cm, max age 17) he could go on most things and even drive these little Jeep things himself. Top age would depend on the child, I reckon (there was a group of 12/13 year old lads having the time of their lives) but your two would be the ideal age! You'll enjoy it too!

And the best bit was there was hardly any queuing - maybe 5 mins at most. Could have been because it was chilly and forecast rain/hail, though.

Funnily enough, despite the recent weather and my expectations (Welly boots all round) it wasn't muddy at all, 70. In fact, it was so dry there was dust blowing in your eyes!

I've been Firefly for a couple of years now, Crazy. I don't have the creativity to change it, even to be Christmas themed Grin

Cish I am quite organised but I bow down to Biddy! Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 05/05/2019 11:02

I've bought a couple of stocking fillers for the kids today: little Christmas Lego sets. And we picked up a reduced gammon in Booths yesterday as well, for the freezer. The kids want a Christmas dinner this year, which we don't normally do, so I'll do that and a turkey crown and that will do us.

Ooh, I also booked the Santa train the other day, so that's ticked off the list.

The in-laws are off to NZ on CD itself this year, so we won't have them around to save us play with the kids, so it'll be good to shake it up a bit and see how it goes.

OP posts:
TheWoollybacksWife · 05/05/2019 18:40

That's very organised Fluffy. No Santa trips here any more Xmas Sad but we are planning a cinema trip for Christmas Eve (the new Star Wars film) and dinner (probably Pizza Hut after the great Frankie and Bennie's disaster of 2015 😂)

We are all totally pooped after fence/shed painting all afternoon. I've had a bath as I was covered in green freckles and I'm trying not to neck a glass of wine while DH cooks dinner.

Line of Duty finale tonight - hopefully I can stay awake long enough 😴

NoWordForFluffy · 05/05/2019 19:49

Just neck it, Woolly!

OP posts:
TheWoollybacksWife · 05/05/2019 19:53

I did 😂

NoWordForFluffy · 05/05/2019 20:32

Good on you! 😁

OP posts:
CishAndFips · 05/05/2019 21:12

Eeek im so excited to see your prequel thread fluffy.
woolly im also really looking forward to line of duty tonight. I only started watching it last month when I found it on netflix and have been binge watching ever since. I think I will watch it on Iplayer tomorrow though as DH has snooker on and it looks like he's set for the night.

hewontstopshitting · 05/05/2019 21:16

heya would it be a crime if I jumped onto this thread. I saw your bargain thread and then this one shot up on the active threads so I thought I’d be on both at once so I could stop talking my poor hubbys ear off about Christmas

NoWordForFluffy · 06/05/2019 07:25

Morning!

Welcome, wontstop, you're more than welcome to join us!

The weather is a bit miserable here. I hope it perks up a bit. I've got stuff to do in the garden but don't intend on getting wet! And we've washing to hang out too.

OP posts:
CishAndFips · 06/05/2019 08:40

Morning and welcome won'tstop im also hoping to get some washing dry fluffy but looking out the window im not holding my breath.

NoWordForFluffy · 06/05/2019 08:47

Yeah, I put the towels out and it instantly rained (forecast said 10% chance of rain!). I think it's brightening now though.

Ah well, at least my plants were watered a bit!

OP posts:
hewontstopshitting · 06/05/2019 11:46

Thank you lasses for the welcome. I tried putting my washing on the line today but it’s pelting it down. According to me app it’ll carry on like this til 2 and then brighten up again, then rain until Saturday. So as soon as the clock strikes 2 I’ll be out hanging my bedding up like a mad woman
