Here we go, brand spanking new thread.

If you could finish the old one off first, that would be great!

Hello friends!

Lavender for first Christmas do NOT stress about going all out. Especially if bub is only 5 months old. Cute outfits and stuff sure but don't freak out about presents and thousands of toys like I see some folks do lol

Fluffy you are a SUPER gardener fluffy!! I adore hearing all about your garden! I hope you'll keep sharing photos as stuff grows!

PSB I love slow cooking! Doesn't matter what it is I love it all!

I'm bad at yeast EXCEPT for with Challah. I've made it so often (every Thursday for about 10 years) that I've finally got it so it's somewhat edible and doesn't look or taste bad haha.

My next cooking foray is for Purim which is a Jewish holiday coming up on March 20th. We eat these triangle shaped cookies called Hamantaschen and they are SO delicious. I found a recipe for a chocolate chip dough this year! I'll do it with a chocolate filling too lol

So sorry to update you all on our drama but weirder stuff happened. First off I'm sad to report that the neighbor passed away. His wife came home late last night and today all their family is over. :( So very sad.

Then last night? Our new car stopped working! My dad did get it fixed though. The shifter bar came off! He then said he was going home to check HIS new car because it's the exact same car just 5 years newer and he didn't want to end up stranded when it happened to that car.

Joe is doing very well! His face is healing up great! The girls are off to my parents today. Lilah is good as new but we're trying to fatten her up a bit more as she's lost weight. We've picked up a variety of kitty foods with gravy as she LOVES gravy.

While the kids are gone? I'm watching Christmas movies and sewing tubie pads! I am considering ordering some sticky tiles and redoing my bathroom floor too.

DS2 was in bed by 7, DD was in bed by 7.15, we're getting up at Tuesday time tomorrow. 😴

CrazyBaubles · 24/02/2019 19:38

Fluffy how are your muscles after all that graft?

Welcome Lavender 👋 We generally chit chat about anything and everything here!

MrsMad what a shame your sis has ruined the game for you.
I hope you've enjoyed your day at least?

Wheels I am very sorry to hear about your neighbour Thanks
How are you getting on with your feeds and everything?
Please post pics of your upcoming holiday food, it sounds lovely.

Woolly are you the type of person to periodically change your Christmas decorations? As my dm is so instead of her making an effort to save things for me, I basically steal anything I want before she gives them to charity every few years, so technically a lot of my decorations are family hand-me-downs Xmas Smile

Me and DH have had a bit of a 'date day.' We had a lie in, went for a walk then went to Hereford for a mooch about the shops and some food before stopping for ice cream on the way home (if you're local you probably know the ice cream stop is essential on that road)!
Have had another short walk with the dogs and we're about to settle in for a film and a glass of wine. First relaxed, drama free weekend in ages!

WheelchairWoes · 24/02/2019 19:49

PSB Good luck getting up at Tuesday time tomorrow!!

We have to be out of the house by 9 am tomorrow to drive up north for my tube appointment!

crazy I'm getting along really good with the feeds! I'm a bit nervous about my tube change and such but I'll get through it lol. I will DEFINITELY share my foods.

Here's the lemon hamantaschen I made last year!! This year we are doing chocolate, lemon, and blackberry :)

Crazy, I ache a bit, and reaching to the floor is somewhat of a challenge, but it could be worse!

I mowed the lawn as it was getting a bit dark tonight; the neighbours must have thought I was insane. 😂 But it had only really dried late on today!

My bread was really lovely, if I do say so myself. 😁 Everyone liked it. And they loved their pizzas (even though I'm actually completely incapable of rolling a circle!).

That looks lovely, Wheelie. Is Purim like Ash Wednesday, so the start of Lent?

I'm sorry to hear that you were right about your neighbour.

Crazy, it sounds like you had a lovely day. 😊

I hope you enjoyed chilling, Mrs.

We're using our heated propagator for the first time. We shall see how that goes! 😆

Mrsmadevans · 24/02/2019 22:42

WheelchairWoes · 25/02/2019 01:02

fluffy That pizza and bread look delicious!! Purim is often jokingly called the Jewish Mardigras. It's a celebration of the defeat of Haman who was trying to slaughter all the Jews and failed. A lot of Jewish holidays are centered around 'someone tried to kill us but we lived!'

We dress up in costumes and pretty much have a huge party and thoroughly enjoy ourselves lol

Lavender Some things for his room is a great idea!

PSB I love baking I wish I could do it more lol

mrs That looks SOOOOOOOO good! Oh yum!

It's about 8 pm. Kids will be home soon and husband is back to work after a short break here at home. I hate that I'll have to get up so early tomorrow grumbles but it's for the best lol

Morning!

It's back to my normal commute today. Hurrah! I've never been so grateful for these godawful yellow trains. Maybe that was the point as I can't actually see any difference to the platform!

No exercise this morning as I ache like buggery after my gardening and I've quite a bit more to do this weekend too, so I don't really need to burn the calories! 😂

I'm getting the earlier train as I've not exercised. I need to get ahead of myself so that I can finish next Weds knowing everything is in good order.

Train was on time too! Wooo!

Morning! I got up at 5.20, DS2 was already up, woke DD up at 6.10, will get DS2's clothes in a couple of minutes, going to McDonald's for breakfast. 😋

LavenderBelle · 25/02/2019 07:17

Morning ladies, been up since 6 but barely slept a wink because DH was shouting at the Oscars. I’m at uni today and then will be back home to make a spaghetti carbonara before DH gets home. Got to stop by the pharmacy too, very boring day for me

PhilomenaButterfly · 25/02/2019 07:42

DS2's having a bacon roll meal, DD's having a bacon roll, I'm having a bacon, egg and cheese bagel meal. 😋

PhilomenaButterfly · 25/02/2019 12:10

Making gnocchi and roasted vegetable bake for lunch. 😋🍠🍆🍅🍄

TheWoollybacksWife · 25/02/2019 12:34

Afternoon all.

I've just caught up on last night's Endeavour MrsMad. I'm clinging to the hope that Fred is investigating from the inside. Loved the reference to the Rhodes scholar "Name of Clinton" Grin

DD1 saw Hamilton last week - it was one of her Christmas presents from us. She said it was amazing. I now need to keep an ear out for what she'd like tickets for this year.

NerosFiddle · 25/02/2019 15:50

Afternoon all. It was another morning sitting in the drs. DS has a bad ear infection. It seems there has nothing but sickness in this house for months. Although after the GP we went to see dh and had lunch with him. He never gets a lunch hour, but he has a locum in today so was able to get out. It was a real treat.
We then went to home bargains to get dc a treat after all the illness. DS chose a car (his absolute obsession) and dd got a bubble machine for the garden. She's at such a difficult age because all the things that are aimed at her are teddies or soft toys which she doesn't want. Everything else is too advanced. Definitely first world problems.

NerosFiddle · 25/02/2019 15:52

Woolly does you dd like Harry Potter? Dh and I went to see the cursed child last month. It was absolutely amazing.

PhilomenaButterfly · 25/02/2019 16:58

Had chicken jalfrezi for supper, DS2 will go to bed at 7, DD will go at 7.20 as she's got her reading booster tomorrow. 😋🍛😴📚

Mrsmadevans · 25/02/2019 17:08

Afternoon everyone Grin
Been to the parents, Dad is much better thankfully so l have cancelled his Gp appt for tomorrow, bless him Grin
Mum's legs are still bad but she is on the right antibiotics so it is just a matter of time till they respond Smile fingers crossed.
Been shopio this afternoon starting to get a bit in for Brexit just in case Grin yes l know lol , not stockpiling as such but getting the necessities in just in case. Toiletries and a few canned bits. My DH thinks l am mad he's prob right lol.
So today my Dsis says to my Mum 'is Dad going to stay like this for the rest of his life or is he going to drive again , only if he isn't going to get better/help himself then the car needs to be sold' . I honestly have no words. It is none of her business and even if he never drives again l doubt very much if he will it's there to give him hope . She then said if he is keeping it then for Mum to ask my DH to charge the battery. If Dad was going to drive again my DH would charge the battery asap for my Dad but he feels she will use the car and why should he charge the battery, let her DH do it or get the RAC to do it . Dad is in the RAC so it would just be a matter of waiting for them to come. She saw roses in a vase that Mum's friend bought her on Saturday , l picked her up and took her home sister hates this friend and said 'why wasn't l told she was coming, how did she get here and home, l should be told ', I said to Mum what business of hers is it why should she be told who comes here, she doesn't tell us who visits her . I feel so cross, she just brings out the worst in me Hmm
This behaviour isn't normal and it's not me being 'unreasonable or aggressive ' there must be something wrong with her . I don't know what but I wish l did Hmm
Wheelie l know how delish does that look m'dear? I know you are going to the Hospital for your follow up appt , l hope everything goes really well Smile
Fluffy hope your normal commute is fine and your bones and muscles are recovering today Smile, l am sure you will have everything ship shape and Bristol fashion by next Weds if l know you Star
PSB very nice brekky and even nicer lunch m'dear yummy!
Woolly l so hope Fred isn't bent, l can't bear to watch it next week Shock l will but ... through my fingers . How can his wife betray him for a spiv ? I am way too over involved Smile
I loved the ref to Bill Clinton too Grin , excellent writing and the music is just lovely , l keep meaning to look who arranges the music . It reminds me of the music in Pride & Prejudice by Carl Davis. I will have to go and have a look now lol Xmas Grin. Can't find it but will keep looking Grin
Nero your poor Ds bless him hope he is much better very soon, my DDs would love to see The Cursed Child. I must try to get tickets somehow lol
Hope all ok, will prob speak ltr m'dears

LavenderBelle · 25/02/2019 17:20

DH has just got home so we’re off up the beer garden, the weathers gorgeous by us. It’s meant to be 17 degrees tomorrow so will put the washing out in the day. I love being able to put it on the line again

NoWordForFluffy · 25/02/2019 18:13

We line dry all year, Lavender. It's wind, not sun, that dries it and we have plenty of that here!

Mrs, honestly, there's no words for your bloody sister. Angry I've done a bit of stockpiling forward purchasing too!

I'm glad your dad is feeling better. I hope your mum improves soon.

Nero, I hope you can remove the black cross from your front door soon. It's been never ending, hasn't it?

What channel is Endeavour on? Maybe I'll watch post-op!

LavenderBelle · 25/02/2019 18:44

Fluffy I’d love to be able to do that, it’s pretty drizzly here all year. I can’t wait for the summer though, I love being in my garden.

NoWordForFluffy · 25/02/2019 20:04

Where (vaguely) are you?

OP posts:
LavenderBelle · 25/02/2019 20:26

East of England, we have the lovely warm days just like everyone else but it feels like the majority of our days are grey and drizzly

NoWordForFluffy · 25/02/2019 20:40

I'm from the East Mids. My parents generally miss most of the wet weather, I think, though.

We have plenty of rain, but also plenty of dry, windy days!
