Fair enough question, Dd wouldn’t understand why they’d been opened and would get really upset. She can’t normally cope with anything wrapped up, so it’s actually really cute seeing her so focused on doing it. I’ll give the 2 from amazon to my neighbour as she wants them for her dd, although I’ve told her I don’t know if everything will be inside (I’m wondering if someone opened them and found a duplicate doll so taped them up and sent them back?)

Not bargain related but would appreciate some help. Have a 10 yo boy to buy for who loves anything war related. Do you think a dvd and book of war horse be suitable? I’ve not seen/read it and it’s saying rated 12 so a bit unsure.

@Jammiebammie I have heard rumours of people opening just the first layer of an LOL doll in order to get the 'clue' paper which gives a hint as to which doll is inside the ball. Is it possible that it's just the first layer that's been opened and taped back up? In which case might you be able to get away with it for your DD if all the other layers are properly sealed?
Not sure how old your DD is, but you could even make up some story about how Father Christmas has to check that the outer layer will open before he delivers it or something creative.

here's an unusual request!

My DD (10 nearly 11) has announced she wants a penpal, a traditional slow mail penpal. She doesn't care where from although as she'll be studying French and Spanish when she goes to high school, this might be of use.

I had penpals for years when I was younger so this is an experience I'd love DD to have, but now that we have the internet, I have all sorts of concerns about safety!

Can anyone advise on how to get a slow mail penpal safely for my DD?

forgot to add, she wants to exchange xmas cards with a penpal....might be a bit too late to post one but still nice to have a penpal

For a pen pal you could try the expat boards here...someone will have neighbours or family in the right country?

@MiseryLoves I have a ds the same age and he likes books such as this one from usborne. They have lots of different ones - if you search under "war" you can filter by age etc.
Ds wouldn't enjoy warhorse but that's not to say your giftee would be the same.

I’ve never seen Next do a discount code, thae. They tend to compensate by doing big reductions on Boxing Day, which unfortunately is no help!

I’m sure that they do split payments or you could open a credit account if £75 is too much in one go.

@thaegumathteth I opened a credit account with Next (first-time customer) and they gave me £10 off. They don't seem to do a referral scheme, though, I've just checked on my account.
