Thought I’d do a ‘how to’ for a couple of things people often post about not being sure of

To do click links you do this put link in here then a space then the name or phrase you want to go with the link . Don’t put a space between the start of the link and the and then last word and the like I have or it won’t work but I had to to demonstrate.

To follow the thread without using up a post to mark place you can click on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first post.

Second message has a few links and info which I’ll slowly build up, let me k ow if there’s anything you’d like me to add to it Thanks

Pixie2015 · 30/11/2018 22:00

We like an expresso martini but wasn’t impressed with the M&S one last year ended up pouring it down sink - Aldi also have a latte liquor which looked good x

If anyone's looking for cheap and easy teacher presents, I've just done an order of these sue shopper bags from Mia Tui.

They're basically reusable shopping bags but they have a middle zipped section which divides the bag into two halves with a safe pocket in the middle (but there's enough flexibility that if you something big you want to put in it that you don't want to split in two, you don't need to). And they have a little pocket that they fold into to keep them neat and tidy and small enough to go into a pocket or handbag.

Must admit I have several of these bags I use a lot - shopping, swimming, hoildays, just as a bag when I want a really light handbag for the day, because they have a zip pocket in you can keep stuff safe unlike most reusable/fold away bags.

And a s a teacher present they're great as they are cheap, won't break, should be useful, won't matter if the teacher has more than one, not too personal or impersonal.

£5 each but if you use the code ST20 you get 20% off so they're £4 each. Free postage if you spend more than £25 (I've bought one of their little make up bags with lots of pockets inside for £8 instead of £10 as the discount works on other stocking fillers too) to try as it looks useful as a present for dh to give to me Xmas Grin

Thought I'd give them to the teachers with either a chocolate santa, bag of chocolate coins or similar (don't trust ds2 to have glass bottles in his bag!).

Best of all - I have ordered them now and so they should be hear soon and I can be organised about teacher presents instead of my usual mad dash to the supermarket and buying something that isn't' on offer but is at least on the shelves...

(and no, not affiliated with the company in any way other than a happy customer!)

Purpletigers · 30/11/2018 22:15

BuzzOff · 30/11/2018 23:20

Does anyone have an opinion on the sega mega drive hd edition? I'm tempted to buy this for my Dh who wasn't allowed this as a teen as it was seen as a waste of money! (Whole other story!) Just wondering if anyone has seen any good offers for this please? Thanks

WaitWhatOh · 30/11/2018 23:23

Real life shopping today was excellent- all Christmas lights half price in WH Smith’s. Got a huge 360 light pack, warm white, with a remote control for off and on. Should have been £39.90 got them for £19.95. Hurrah.
Tk max also had lots of those ladybird tongue in cheek books for adults - big night out, the people next door, etc etc for just £2.99. Cheaper than book people/amazon and good grown up stocking fillers.

applepinkierainbow · 30/11/2018 23:28

@Purpletigers I received this offer today from Lottie no idea if Ponies are included but worth putting in your basket and trying the code

Could I ask for your help on a non Christmas item please? I need a leak proof lunch box (Tupperware style) ideally like a Bento box (with compartments). I have semista (sp) and it leaks everyday. It is for my son who has asd and it is putting him off eating so any suggestions would be so gratefully received. Thank you

andadietcoke · 01/12/2018 06:27

How about a Yumbox? I love ours. We have two differently spaced inners and it doesn't leak at all. www.eatwell-uk.co.uk/yumbox/

Dolphintrainer · 01/12/2018 06:50

@rosablue I have just ordered some of those shopper bags, thanks for posting

Alanamackree · 01/12/2018 07:07

@livinginhope87 this nudefood one is very good, but longer than a normal lunch box. I used them for a few years and they were great. The small box at the end can hold a good sized apple if you take out the inner box.

Nowadays I prefer to use these sistema microwave boxes as I can use them for hot/cold, freezing, lunches etc and I just use silicone muffin cases and egg poachers to create compartments as needed (also dealing with asd food issues) so I find them very flexible. I only have one type of box/lid to store so no more Tupperware explosions.

woodwaj · 01/12/2018 07:11

Fortnite toys are out today, available at Argos, smyths, Amazon but they will sell out fast !

livinginhope87 · 01/12/2018 07:12

Thank you so much for the suggestions. I have ordered a nudefood one. The yumbox looks perfect for the dinner table so have ordered some stuff from there as well. You lot are brilliant x

Potter: A Pop-Up Guide to Hogwarts www.amazon.co.uk/dp/178763115X/ref=cmswrcpapi_cEJaCbB0DYCY0 Guide to Hogwarts pop up book is £22 today (£40 at the beginning of the week) Camelcamelcamel came up trumps - I could see it had been reduced every Saturday for several weeks so I held my nerve until today and got one for DD1 and my goddaughter as well!

TamiTayorismyparentingguru · 01/12/2018 07:38

Oh bugger I twitched!

I didn’t need anything else - I finished about a month ago (except for DH who I always do last, but even he’s done now) and haven’t twitched at all until now!

That HP pop up Hogwarts book 1stMrsF linked above looks absolutely brilliant though and as our main present for our DC are tickets to the HP Studio Tour I figured (in a well thought out 10 seconds) that this would be a great companion gift to the tickets!

TamiTayorismyparentingguru · 01/12/2018 07:44

Ok - now to maybe twitch on something else. The other part of our gift to DC is tickets to go to Windsor Castle. (Not as weird as it sounds I promise!) We’re driving down from Scotland so making the most of it and doing both in one (very long) day.

DS will love it because he loves history. DD will love it for the history, the royal connections, the fact it’s a castle and everything else! DTs will love it because they’ll be seeing the Sussexes wedding outfits as part of the tour and they are fully paid up members of the Harry & Meghan fan club! Grin

So... now that I’ve bought the HP book above to go with the studio tour tickets - any ideas of something I could buy to go with the Windsor Castle tickets? Must be suitable to share (or small/cheap enough to do one each) and suitable for ages 8-14
