Thought I’d do a ‘how to’ for a couple of things people often post about not being sure of

To do click links you do this put link in here then a space then the name or phrase you want to go with the link . Don’t put a space between the start of the link and the and then last word and the like I have or it won’t work but I had to to demonstrate.

To follow the thread without using up a post to mark place you can click on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first post.

Second message has a few links and info which I’ll slowly build up, let me k ow if there’s anything you’d like me to add to it Thanks

Yes iggi. It might need to be second hand but it can be done.

onedayatatime73 · 30/11/2018 20:21

Just bought exploding kittens. Thought I'd get my head around it before Christmas Day. Is it me but it's really complicated? I don't understand the rules?

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 30/11/2018 20:25

Have you played it yet oneday? I think it's one of those where you have to jump in and have a couple of hands before it makes sense. There might be online tutorials too.
I love Exploding Kittens! I have bought two sets for gifts this year!

thaegumathteth · 30/11/2018 20:28

Thank you @TamiTayorismyparentingguru so is that compatible with iPhone 6?

DeezMutts · 30/11/2018 20:31

@Choconuts thanks for the Elemis code. Nice handwash for £6 delivered 👍

thaegumathteth · 30/11/2018 20:31

@TamiTayorismyparentingguru is it this one? He doesn’t run but he does train in other sports 6/7 days. I’d like him to be able to do calls / texts via it. Does it do anything else?

Sorry for the thousands of questions I am a total technophobe.

We have bought Ds a Fossil Smartwatch which they said will be compatible with his iPhone 6.

We bought it from the outlet shop at Cheshire Oaks much cheaper than on their website.

winewolfhowls · 30/11/2018 20:33

MrsCrimbo (hope that name is right) that is such a lovely thing to do for the other poster whose name I also can't remember! Merry Christmas to you.

FrederickCreeding · 30/11/2018 20:41

Tami the random act of kindness is a good idea. I've added that.

Goodnight yes, we do the treasure hunt thing too! They love it. In fact, I probably got the idea from here!

TamiTayorismyparentingguru · 30/11/2018 20:45

Yes - that’s the one thaegumathteth and yes, it will work with an iPhone 6

BrightonBB · 30/11/2018 20:52

Exploding Kittens - what would you say is the minimum age? I got carried away and bought it at a reduced price (it has gone lower since!) but now wonder if it is really suitable for our family yet!

TamiTayorismyparentingguru · 30/11/2018 20:53

Urgh! Just typed a big message to you re: the Garmin and somehow lost it - grrr Angry

TamiTayorismyparentingguru · 30/11/2018 21:00

Ok - let’s try again.

You will see notifications coming through on the watch - texts, notifications and calls - and you can read the texts/notifications in full, but you can’t reply via the watch, nor can you answer calls through it.

It has an alarm, and can connect to a weather app on your phone so you can view the weather on the watch. You can also control the music on your phone via the watch but I have no idea how! DS does it when he runs but I just control it on my phone before I set off!

The heartrate monitor is pretty accurate (as accurate as any of the wrist ones), it automatically tracks steps and allocates “active minutes” based on your raised heartrate over the course of week. You don’t need to set anything specific to do this.

If you want to track specific activities (inc with GPS) then there are 5 to choose from:

  • walk
  • run indoors
  • run outdoors
  • bike
  • cardio

I use it for running outdoors, cycling and cardio and it’s always worked well.

One of the things I like about it is that it isn’t massive - I have small wrists as does DS (because he’s 14!) and a lot of smart watches just look massive on both our wrists. It’s also very comfortable.

TamiTayorismyparentingguru · 30/11/2018 21:04

Oh, and you can choose either digital or analogue watch face which was important to me because I hate the look of digital watches! I realise that this totally wouldn’t matter to most people though!

Notlongnow1 · 30/11/2018 21:24

Thanks for the Elemis tip - you can choose free gift wrapping too. Nice teacher pressie sorted 👍🏻

TamiTayorismyparentingguru · 30/11/2018 21:25

Oh and one more thing about the Garmin for thaegumathteth - the battery life is excellent. Mine lasts 7-10 days depending on how much specific activity I am tracking. I’ve had it for several years and the battery is still as good - massive difference from my old Fitbit which was pathetic and from my DH’s Apple Watch which needs charged daily.

Lelly78 · 30/11/2018 21:25

Good evening all, really enjoying three bargain hunting :) just wondering, I have received these lucky dip Turtle Dove wrist warmers and while they are lovely and soft they aren't really the right colour for the intended recipient... anyone have another colour pair and want to swap?

Notlongnow1 · 30/11/2018 21:26

Also, know it's been said but the 3 for £5 chocolate deal at OneStop is great - especially for the Guylian (sp?!) chocs. Just bought another lot after DH discovered first batch!

margaritasbythesea · 30/11/2018 21:44

Lelly78 - if you don't have any luck, they go for good prices on ebay.

Notlongnow1 · 30/11/2018 21:54

Help! Little one wants to dress up as Santa for Christmas - I can find Santa everything but not a decent costume at a sensible price. He says it must have red trousers, a red jacket, a belt and a hat!
