Thought I’d do a ‘how to’ for a couple of things people often post about not being sure of

To do click links you do this put link in here then a space then the name or phrase you want to go with the link . Don’t put a space between the start of the link and the and then last word and the like I have or it won’t work but I had to to demonstrate.

To follow the thread without using up a post to mark place you can click on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first post.

No affiliate links please.

Referral thread here

Second message has a few links and info which I’ll slowly build up, let me k ow if there’s anything you’d like me to add to it Thanks

WWYDhelpplease my Mum bought a Fortnite beanie from Etsy for one of the gc and was really pleased with the quality of it. Rushing out so havent got chance to check with her the sellers name _ but might be worth a search on Etsy?

Also Asda from 1st December HOTUK Deals said are doing fortnite merch but think it sounds like just action figs and toys. HTH

Oh my girls loved the sea pony! Smallest is 4 though so no risk of choking hazard

TheGirlWhoLived · 29/11/2018 08:54

@lokibear Phillip schofield has a lot to answer for.... dh just ordered a ride on fecking unicorn with no regard to my carefully planned Christmas guide!

Any idea what I could get an 8 year old to somehow ‘match’ the greatness of a ride on unicorn?? I’m not getting two, and they could have it as a joint present.... considering a new iPad to do homework etc on but open to suggestions

akmum18 · 29/11/2018 09:04

A kindle or console of some kind? Argos have the old sega consoles on offer. Or something they could ride together like a scooter or bike.

dramalamma · 29/11/2018 09:10

If anyone is tempted by the snowflake brooches at £0.59 on amazon (sorry can't remember who recommended) watch out for the £4.99 postage! I ordered it by mistake with some other things because I had them in my basket, realised and cancelled literally within 30 seconds of ordering and they've just dispatched them anyhow (the day after ordering and cancelling) - I've complained but I could be stuck with three expensive brooches!! Just a word of warning (not a criticism of the person who posted either! ''Twas my fault for trying to do Xmas shopping while listening to a toddler having a tantrum!)

totallyLosingIt · 29/11/2018 09:22

Thank you @TimeForMy10thCuppa !

totallyLosingIt · 29/11/2018 09:23

@dramalamma I ordered one of the brooches, but there was no postage charge. I wonder why yours was so high?

TheGirlWhoLived · 29/11/2018 09:26

Ah this is the point at which I will sound like a twat Grin I’m a huge mega geek (I’m getting the Hogwarts Lego for Christmas, and my mum just bought me the switch to play Zelda for my 30th birthday- HUGE geek 🤓)
So we have most consoles and things already. Dd1 is blind in one eye and deaf in the same side ear so bikes are a real no go unfortunately, she just wobbles off or into things! And we have most consoles ranging from the amiga to the PS4 (and not the reimagined ones either Grin)

I am debating a cheap (under £250) laptop so she can do her schoolwork on it, look up things, play zoo tycoon that sort of thing. Is this feasible? She isn’t allowed on my MacBook, I’m very protective (see anal) I’m not spending more than £250 as I have already bought their ‘main’ present each - a Mia and me dress up outfit and project mc2 things but she would love a laptop.

Questions: is a laptop far too extravagant for an 8 year old? Is it possible to find something under £250 that won’t run like a slug, possibly that includes PowerPoint as she’s quite into that at the minute?! And finally where am I going to store a ride on unicorn... 🦄

dramalamma · 29/11/2018 09:30

really @totallyLosingIt ? That is strange! It did say free shipping on the item too.... very odd. Another point to add to my complaint to amazon! Confused

Lelly78 · 29/11/2018 09:34

About the brooch, it is because you ordered more than one at once :( You need to order the cheap stuff from China individually to get free postage... makes no sense though obv!!

lookingforbaubles · 29/11/2018 09:35

@TheGirlWhoLived i know nothing about laptops - except i hate windows which would freeze/reboot/screen of death memories but i have a chrome laptop, under 200 quid and its the best thing ever! -how great it is for school work tho ??

you can get a powerpoint download for it tho ive never used it!

sorry not a very helpful post but i love my chromebook!

dementedma · 29/11/2018 09:36

Great bargain on running headbands at hyggebands.com/.
Buy one get THREE free.
can be used as headbands, beanies, mufflers etc.

LokiBear · 29/11/2018 09:36

@TheGirlWhoLived what about a Chromebook? Dd7 absolutely loves hers.

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 29/11/2018 09:37

drama did you have 3 in your basket? You generally have to order one at a time

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 29/11/2018 09:38

Phillip schofield has a lot to answer for Grin that feels like the next thread title Grin

andadietcoke · 29/11/2018 09:39

yumyumpoppycat no, am just a bit lazy with elf on the shelf. So if I opened it all myself I'd instantly have 25 things that the elf could bring throughout the month. Also, I have twins and taking turns opening a shared calendar could cause issues, whereas Buddy things are always shared. I bought a cheap chocolate calendar for him to decimate on Saturday. Not sure I should be giving them ideas though!!

dramalamma · 29/11/2018 09:43

I've just worked that out! doh! how infuriating! I'm just trying to cancel again but they say already dispatched - am so cross with myself for getting caught out. Angry Oh well - it still doesn't negate the super bargains I got from the rest of the thread!!

IveGotaLoveleyBunch have a look on eBay for London in a Bag skyline toy. It’s lots of London landmarks in wooden block form - the one I saw was £16 but have t had time to really look (I was originally looking for the muji London in a bag toy that I bought years ago (pre kids!) which was beautiful plain bits of wood in the same shapes when this came up - coloured but better than the muji one that now seems to be a collectors item and has fewer blocks despite being more expensive.

lauryloo · 29/11/2018 10:07

any ideas what to get a 13 year old girl who likes harry potter?

i am very much stuck in the baby tunnel so no idea what 13 year olds like!

hoopdeloop · 29/11/2018 10:12

Asda have the playmobil advent calendars for £10 each

advent

HoneyDragon · 29/11/2018 10:12

Boots do fab Harry Potter inspired make up. Primark has literally a ton of Harry Potter clothiers and accessories and Waterstones do the most amazing Niffler I’ve ever seen. Dd has one and I cuddle it when she’s not looking Blush

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 29/11/2018 10:12

@WWYDhelpplease Argos don't usually do another 3 for 2 in December. If you google it shows old dates and I can't find any in December. Don't be caught out as they often up the price in Argos for those deals and the items work out cheaper elsewhere anyway.

@TheGirlWhoLived haha yes Philip Schofield does have a lot to answer for he's the reason I want heaps of nerf guns and if I had the spare cash I'd get those hover skates Grin. I've already spent way too much this year but it's been a tough year so the kids deserve to be treated even DH agrees.

Not sure if anyone wants one but the Christmasauraus soft toy is back in stock at WHSmith.
