Thought I’d do a ‘how to’ for a couple of things people often post about not being sure of

To do click links you do this put link in here then a space then the name or phrase you want to go with the link . Don’t put a space between the start of the link and the and then last word and the like I have or it won’t work but I had to to demonstrate.

To follow the thread without using up a post to mark place you can click on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first post.

Second message has a few links and info which I’ll slowly build up, let me k ow if there’s anything you’d like me to add to it Thanks

Just got my nephew some imaginext batman toys from Debenhams. The Joker surprise truck and batwing were about £12 and £13 down from £19 each. Marked as 20% off so nice surprise at the till. Also had the batmobile for £15 from £30. Lots of Jurassic and superheroes ones but don't know what the price at till would be.

I don't know if I got the link from an earlier thread or not, but this "wish" (dandelion seed) in a glass ball necklace arrived today so for 40p it was a lovely bargain

@neddle they did have Christmas jumpers in primark - flossing through the snow. Don't know if they still have them but if memory serves they were £7

3 of my children have the Kindle Fires, but just the normal ones. The kids version does nothing more, except they added a whole lot of extra money to the cost because it's aimed at little ones!
That’s not true they come with a really decent case and a 12 month subscription to kids unlimited which is excellent. Hundreds of games and books. It actually works much longer than a tear as well.

1980's style calculator watch!
A less-than-£1 bargain.

I bought my husband and my 8 year old these last year, both were delighted and the batteries are still going.
They do various colours, I just happened to have this one open (my other son has requested one)

@dancemom

I flesh out my teen girls very small and expensive piles every year with:

Fleece throw
Fleecy pjs
New dressing gowns
Slippers
Big box set of amelies (the one in boots mentioned earlier from soap and glory is good, down to £15 3 for 2 and big)
Fleecy pjs
A wrapped selection box 😊
New bedding

Sometimes a picture or mirror for their room or a cushion
The speaker pillows were big hits, around £15 I think but you can only buy once

Primark has good friends and Harry Potter stuff just now

1122 Can someone explain audible for me? I thought it was a membership of £8 a month and you got unlimited books to listen to but is that not the case? So you buy a book but still pay a membership?

You pay £7.99 per month and get 1 credit = 1 book to download every month. You can pay more and get more credits/books. Each individual title is usually much more than £7.99 do it is sort of cost effective but it’s in no way unlimited, unfortunately.

There is whispersync for Kindle (which reads aloud kindle books) and you can sign up for Kindle Unlimited but that’s not the same as a properly produced audiobook that’s read or dramatised - whispersync is more of a robot reading the book out loud, I believe.

Some online codes for Smyths - ET6 gets you £6 off when you spend £50 and ET12 does £12 off when you spend £100.

rosablue · 22/10/2018 19:07

Costco have got a new set of offers in store from today until 4 November. It includes lots of toys - there's a toy rocket 'doll's house' (can't think of a better way to describe it sorry!) that ds2 would have adored (and probably still would) when he was little that's normally £70 but currently £50, with lots of little astronauts and aliens

rosablue · 22/10/2018 19:11

Also lots of offers at Photobox between now and midnight - up to 70% off. Buy now, then you have a month to make whatever it is you have bought, you don't have to put together your photobook/calendar/etc before midnight too!

With audible- they often have a deal where you can buy 3 credits for £18. There are also sales where books are reduced or on 3 for 2. It’s not cheap but I love being able to listen to books in the car or while I’m doing the washing up etc!

1122christy · 22/10/2018 20:09

Thanks for info on audible. I don't think I would listen to books although I do enjoy podcasts. I mainly want it for kids to listen on echo dot. I think I might sign up for a month and buy some books on any deals/sale and then I always own them even if I don't continue membership.

dancemom · 22/10/2018 20:27

Gettingthereslowly1 · 22/10/2018 20:27

dancemom · 22/10/2018 20:30

@Gettingthereslowly1 I didn't it was @RJnomore1 who mentioned them but if you see any bargainous ones please let me know!

ineedabagformyhippo · 22/10/2018 20:30

Does anyone know please what photobox books are like? I love traditional photo albums but like the idea of switching to photobooks I just worry about the print quality...

thaegumathteth · 22/10/2018 20:33

Amazon have some speaker pillows for about £13.

Gettingthereslowly1 · 22/10/2018 20:45

Girlsnightin · 22/10/2018 21:03

FekkoTheLawyer · 22/10/2018 21:16

I just stick my phon under my pillow

dancemom · 22/10/2018 21:29

@Girlsnightin which ones have you ordered?

imip · 22/10/2018 21:35

For anyone using a kindle fire, you can download Overdrive and borrow e-books from your local library. Most local authorities do it, and certainly in a London as it is a Pan London Group. Great for dc, does have new releases and is entirely free!
