Thought I’d do a ‘how to’ for a couple of things people often post about not being sure of

To do click links you do this put link in here then a space then the name or phrase you want to go with the link . Don’t put a space between the start of the link and the and then last word and the like I have or it won’t work but I had to to demonstrate.

To follow the thread without using up a post to mark place you can click on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first post.

No affiliate links please.

Referral thread here

Second message has a few links and info which I’ll slowly build up, let me k ow if there’s anything you’d like me to add to it Thanks

weelis if you go to page 1 of this thread, in reasties opening post there's information about using ali express. What's good, what's not and other useful advice.

SleeptightDaisy · 25/10/2018 19:51

We've bought a couple of the big sets of (batman & Ninjago)from AliExpress and they've been brilliant had no problems. We also ordered some figures separately and the only problem with one of them was it should have been star wars related but had Robin's head 🤔

womenmatter · 25/10/2018 20:08

jammiebammie I want to order a load of minifigures from Ali express to do an advent. I’ve read reviews online that the plastic could be harmful to kids and that some of the Lego has a residue and smell?? It put me off. Did you have these worries? Can you recommend a seller if not, or link me?
Thanks

The coffee syrups sound interesting gaggiagirl I'm sugar free and boring so would be right up my street.
I did not know you could share a prime account nosquirrels!!! I even made him order his own valentines gift (hangs head in shame) because I hate paying postage so much. This is great info!

Alanamackree · 25/10/2018 20:20

@Jammiebammie my DH would get on well with yours. I just got an OG doll delivered from Debenhams with a part missing and as I can’t get to a store to replace it, I’ll have to return it and re-order it and I’d just prefer not to have that much activity on our bank account drawing dh’s attention

Niceforwhat · 25/10/2018 20:20

Thanks Ritz
I would take the £10 offer but it’s only for £100 and above and only want the £80 scooter
Think I’ll just have to take my chances

Alanamackree · 25/10/2018 20:26

@weelis02 I got a lego Christmas train from AliExpress which was fine. It came bagged rather than boxed, and while there were individual bags they weren’t organized sequentially like real lego. It took a while to sort and find pieces. DS said it was fine to build.
I keep it separate from the real lego (it’s a Christmas decoration rather than a toy). Some people get stressed about mixing real and fake lego.
We had a cheap imitation lego set years ago from a discount store that is obviously fake. The AliExpress lego was much much better.

BadgerFace · 25/10/2018 20:27

Thank you for the Ordance Survey puzzle book recommendation! I always buy my dad fudge, wine, shortbread which he likes but is pretty boring so I hope he’ll like something different this year! Well, and some wine still probably...

TimeForMy10thCuppa · 25/10/2018 20:29

Not Christmas related but I'm looking for a gift for a friend who has recently had a baby. It's been so long since mine were tiny I have no idea where to start. I would ask her what baby needs but she probably won't tell me. So looking for something nice for a baby girl and maybe a couple of treats for mum and dad. Also if anyone can recommend a little treat for the cats that would be great. I have a dog no no idea what is popular with cats. Strange I know but i thought it was lovely when people visited us and brought treats for the dog.

My DH is very much the " it's useless tat £ kind. So I will find something , that the kids would love, usually over priced crap but they would love it and would be used and he will roll his eyes and make some comment about useless tat, then I remind him the kids will love it and he says he agrees. Mostly though he keeps quite and lets me get on with it because we both know I'm going to buy it anyway. Unless it's something that he really doesn't think will get used. He is getting better though, he even ordered a Christmas present for DS some time last week without me instructing him to.

buckeejit · 25/10/2018 20:42

@Niceforwhat - could you not get a couple of accessories for the scooter to go over £100 & then add them to a Christmas gift?

@makingmiracles - a twiddlemuff is great but if he's early on he may not want it. I'm a big fan of amazon dots for older people as they're great for anyone with dexterity or nobility problems-voice activated radio, alarms, facts & news, all good. Plus if you get a smart plug they can turn lamps on & off by speaking. As long as they have WiFi that is!

bagginses · 25/10/2018 20:44

Paperchase have a spin to win promo at the moment. Could get up tp 20% off. Not huge savings but if you were planning to buy stuff there anyway...

Someaddedsugar · 25/10/2018 20:50

10thcuppa how about a hamper of useful things like a pretty muslin, nice teether, a blanket etc, and for parents some nice tea/coffee/biscuits? Pets at Home have loads of cat treats so might have some ideas on their site?

Someaddedsugar · 25/10/2018 20:53

10thcuppa alternatively the garlands at Velveteen Babies would make a stunning gift if you know room colour etc

DaisyChops · 25/10/2018 20:53

Littlecocks and twiddlemuffs, think I'm in the wrong place I was just after a few Xmas bargains 😂

Smellybears · 25/10/2018 21:00

The photobox offer that was on here for a free a4 calendar.....kicking myself because once ordered, it comes up with a refer a friend and you get £5 credit, I didn’t do it though! Well I ordered in my husbands name too and didn’t do the refer a friend, gutted! 🤦🏻‍♀️ The friend gets a free photo book as well. Thought I’d post on here so others can take advantage of the offer. Serves me right for not reading it after I’d placed my order!
The calendar is lovely by the way, offer still on until Monday, just pay £4.99 postage.

imsorryiasked · 25/10/2018 21:02

@TimeForMy10thCuppa cuski have gout some great reductions at the moment especially these
Can recommend, excellent quality.

PunkAssMoFo · 25/10/2018 21:18

Anyone know of any deals on the imaginext castle?

Or suggestions for other main gifts for dc2 who also has his 3rd birthday coming up.

NoWordForFluffy · 25/10/2018 21:23

Groupon has a Colorland calendar offer. We got 5 A4 calendars for £20 once postage was taken into account.

It uses the same software as Photobox, so easy to use.

Isadora2007 · 25/10/2018 21:27

@punkass the castle has been as Low as £19 so worth an alert on that.

woodwaj · 25/10/2018 21:29

SOLDOUT5 should get £5 off at flavourly. Postage is £6 though

EnglishRose1320 · 25/10/2018 21:31

Hi I'm looking for a rag doll and I'm sure someone mentioned one a while back, may have been a few threads back. Have had a look but can't see it, can anyone remember. It was a good reduction. This one is only a small gift for someone so really don't want to spend much £5 ish really. Thanks

NoWordForFluffy · 25/10/2018 21:46

The Imaginext castle was £16 in Argos last summer. It was on one of the prequel threads, so I bought it for DS. Worth keeping an eye out.

OnlyGlowingSlightly · 25/10/2018 21:48

For those looking for kids baking box, I've been recommended BKD although haven't tried it myself yet.

mycatislickingherpaw · 25/10/2018 21:55

MerryTwinkletoes: My first littlecooks box has just arrived.

Read it as ‘my first littlecocks box has just arrived’ and thought I must have missed a post or two. Will never be able to buy from that company without thinking of what kind of stuff will arrive in those boxes!

Smellybears · 25/10/2018 22:02

@woodwaj thanks for the flavourly code! It’s just given me one for a friend, whoever uses it will get £5 off and I also get £5 off. RACHAEEFH
