Thought I’d do a ‘how to’ for a couple of things people often post about not being sure of

To do click links you do this put link in here then a space then the name or phrase you want to go with the link . Don’t put a space between the start of the link and the and then last word and the like I have or it won’t work but I had to to demonstrate.

To follow the thread without using up a post to mark place you can click on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first post.

Second message has a few links and info which I’ll slowly build up, let me k ow if there’s anything you’d like me to add to it Thanks

Smellybears · 24/10/2018 05:37

Free £10 voucher code from asos if you’re part of the a-lister reward scheme. Don’t forget they do student discount too!

Penguinbeaver · 24/10/2018 07:00

Just had a camel camel alert for the board game Labyrinth which gets good reviews. Down to£14:39 on Amazon

WhirlwindHugs · 24/10/2018 07:17

Ohh thanks @penguinbeaver had my eye on that!

Sylvanian families cosy starter cottage is back down to £14.99 on amazon too not its cheapest ever but at that end.

ihavetogoshoppingnow · 24/10/2018 07:18

Cry Katie lowest price ever on Amazon £28.79

imsorryiasked · 24/10/2018 07:21

I'm sure someone was after tickets to the ideal home Xmas show but I've searched this thread and the last one and can't find it - anyway Littlebird have tickets around half price.

BrightonBB · 24/10/2018 07:25

Labyrinth is also on offer at Argos - which age would you recommend this for? Thanks

MerryTwinkletoes · 24/10/2018 07:32

Labyrinth is great from about 6/7 but perfectly playable up to adult! Great game.

fraggle84 · 24/10/2018 07:39

I'd ask in the arcade if you can buy a squishy from them, I've done it in Skegness for DS who spent loads trying to get a keyrings!

BestofLuck · 24/10/2018 07:50

Fab @TellMeDinosaurFacts thanks. I'll investigate!

buckeejit · 24/10/2018 07:54

The Asda cafe shop is a great bargain at that price. Dd got it 2 years ago & it's fab

OhGhoulyFuck · 24/10/2018 08:00

The Labyrinth has become one of our family favourites and still gets played at Christmas with older teens who decide to tolerate us!

Kindles

Missed my visit to the thread yesterday. Re: Kindles if interested people are still reading....
I make kids apps for a living so know the tablet market really well. They are cheap, but have a clunky interface and run very slowly, painfully slow at times. To the point a child may abandon a game.
I'd say they are ok if your child has never played on an iPhone/iPad much, but if they have been used to using a family device, it may be too painful.
A conditioned iPad is a much better bet, iPads are much better supported by the people who make the games, as different iPad versions are so well used.
Anyone still set on a Kindle, I personally won't go for the kids version, as you're paying mostly for the 1 year subscription to Amazon Kids. I'd look at pricing up the basic Amazon Fire Kindle 7 and buy a third party case - must work out cheaper.

DaisyChops · 24/10/2018 08:29

@ritzbiscuits thanks for this info, we have 3 kindle fires and I've got to say it's fucking awful when my 3 year olds are playing as the games are so slow they are pressing all the buttons and abandon them, they need help all the time to the point I hide the kindles as they get really frustrated and want me sat with them all the time to help them as they don't know what to do! Kind of defies the point of the tablet as it's when I need to be making the tea or something! The only game that seems ok is the burger cafe game but I'm defo going to look for cheaper iPads now!
I guess for £30 or so that I got them, plus the cases they are ok but I wouldn't want to be spending any more on them.

captainflash · 24/10/2018 08:30

I agree with not bothering with the Amazon kids.
My DD has had a basic Kindle for years. She doesn’t really play games other than Roblox occasionally and the CBeebies game so the app thing doesn’t bother her. She mainly just uses it to watch YouTube- which she knows how to do with ease and it’s fine for her needs.

Her current one is one of their Black Friday £29.99 ones from last year. She had it for Christmas last year but the charging point has just started to work it’s way loose and not connect very well to charge.
Live chat with Amazon this morning, new one being sent out today as a replacement.
No need for the kids warranty at all.
Their customer service is excellent- no questions asked!

Imustbemad00 · 24/10/2018 08:31

I’m surprised kindles are getting a bad name. My 6 year old uses it almost daily and have never had one single problems. I love the parent controls and not having to worry about him typing things in by mistake or misspelling things and seeing something inappropriate.
He’s never mentioned it being slow or getting stuck and there’s so many games. To me the kids one is worth the extra money for the subscription and the no quibble guarantee. If it gets broke it’s replaced no questions asked.

riotlady · 24/10/2018 08:31

@Trumpton thank you! I had no idea cutlery jewellery was a thing, googling now

TimeForMy10thCuppa · 24/10/2018 08:42

Ohghoulyfuck, it could be. I've looked at so many they are all starting to look the same.

Will check when I go through later on. Will also ask if I can buy one.
Thank you.

Redken24 · 24/10/2018 09:27

I suppose I use my kindle for mostly reading so not surprised that people who use it for apps would complain.
It''s fab for Netflix and e reader

TheOnlyPink · 24/10/2018 09:46

@riotlady Tatty Devine are quite quirky and alternative. Loads of bloggers love them. You might find something there?

CarrotVan · 24/10/2018 10:09

Has anyone got the LEGODUPLO Amazon code to work? I’ve got Amazon Family, I’ve got a child profile in the right age range, I’ve got two toys fulfilled by Amazon in my basket and the supposed free gift...and when I add the code it says ‘this promotion is not valid for your basket’

riotlady · 24/10/2018 10:15

@TheOnlyPink you are a GENIUS, I think a name necklace could be perfect. And I got 10% off from signing up to their newsletter

gaggiagirl · 24/10/2018 10:45

carrot does your basket total £25? If it doesn't work I would contact them via live chat you're meeting all the criteria so no reason why it shouldn't work.
