Thought I’d do a ‘how to’ for a couple of things people often post about not being sure of

To do click links you do this put link in here then a space then the name or phrase you want to go with the link . Don’t put a space between the start of the link and the and then last word and the like I have or it won’t work but I had to to demonstrate.

To follow the thread without using up a post to mark place you can click on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first post.

Second message has a few links and info which I’ll slowly build up, let me k ow if there’s anything you’d like me to add to it Thanks

My daughter asked for AG when she was 8. I ignored it but a year later went to US on holiday. She now has 4 and still plays with them and she’s 12. They are beautiful and attention to detail is amazing. When she does outgrow them I’ll put them away for the grandchildren.

WoahBodyforrrrm · 02/10/2018 22:23

I just picked up these Santa shaped playing cards for my DS11 stocking. Thought they were quite good value.

My dd has just seen a video on YouTube for the poopsie pooey puitton (who thinks of these names!) and her eyes were like saucers! 70 bloody pound for a slime making kit Shock

Thanks for the stranger things ideas, so far I’ve got quite a few things for the advent calendar but need to think of more.

The Lol dolls on amazon will be genuine if they’re sold and fullfilled by amazon, fake ones are usually third party sellers coming from China but the amazon sold ones linked above are genuine.

Is anyone having trouble with the Santa’s bag app this year? I had it last year and went to download from my cloud again but saying I can only get it in the US Hmm

Smellybears · 02/10/2018 22:32

Those cards have just reminded me that I’m after a cheesy Christmas gift for adult female friend, around £3. She loves Christmas! Has anyone any ideas please?

Smellybears · 02/10/2018 22:33

@WoahBodyforrrrm that wasn’t meant to be an insult to your playing cards by the way! Hmm

MerryTwinkletoes · 02/10/2018 22:34

@Jammiebammie I tried to download Santa's bag for my mum last week and had the same error and just assumed I was doing something wrong but maybe not!

Glad I saved mine from last year now (sorry no help to you though!)

Beagadorsrock · 02/10/2018 22:40

@OnlyGlowing, that is lovely! I'd have to measure it but it does look the part :) :)

scrappydappydoo · 02/10/2018 23:04

Would problems with Santa bag app be due to gdpr? A lot of US websites have had issues with and wonder if it’s the same for apps?

millymollymardy · 02/10/2018 23:31

Sainsburys have 1l Baileys at £12 instead of £20 at the moment.

@YourHandInMyHand I got the Hornby Christmas train set from Argos during the Easter clearance sale for £30. It's now £69.99 so if you can hang on until Easter, I'd buy it then. It's a very robust set but it is a model train set so may not be ideal for a 1yr old.

Any musicians around? My brother wants to get DS a guitar after DS used one at school and enjoyed it. I have said I will pick it up because he won't look for a bargain and will pick the most expensive assuming it's the best.
Anyway, I have seen 2. Both acoustic, same size. One is £30 in Smyth's the other £18 in home bargains. Will there be much of a difference? He seems to think the Smyth's will be better. Also, I thought maybe some lessons for DS. Would you go for before he gets a guitar, so as a trial and if he enjoys it DBro can buy the guitar and I will sort more lessons. Or lessons after he has the guitar?
I am probably over thinking this.
Alternatively, if someone can recommend a decent guitar for an almost 8 year old. It's a 36" one I think. The 3/4 size.
Thanks in advance.

NoHufflefucksGivenMugglefucker · 02/10/2018 23:46

time no help I’m afraid but to confuse you, here at Argos there are well reduced guitars in diff sizes

Bellatrix257 · 02/10/2018 23:57

@time I’m a music tutor (not guitar I’m afraid so can’t advise) and personally I hate it when I get a beginner student and they’ve already bought a rubbish instrument from Tesco or something as it is normally a waste of money as it is frustrating for the poor student to play something that is not set up properly/ goes out of tune after each practice! I prefer it when someone asks for recommendations before their first lesson. Perhaps pick a guitar tutor first and email them to ask what they advise, they will have experience of the best instrument for a beginner and good value for money. They might even recommend getting a decent one but second hand- I often have students outgrowing their instruments so I organise new students to buy them off them :)

Lego tractor £13.07 today on amazon

amzn.to/2O1iTVg

I think there's deals on loads of Lego items at the moment

user1471531855 · 03/10/2018 06:12

For the guitar lessons we signed up to fender play which showed all the basics from tuning to set up and learning rifts it was great my son loves it! The teaching is amazing and it goes through stages with you we found this the best way and so much cheaper than lessons

donkeysandzebras · 03/10/2018 06:18

I had a camelcamel alert overnight that the Lego 4x4 response unit was down to £11.98. Its since got back up to £20 but John Lewis still have it for £11.98.
DS already has this and it is a good set & looks like it definitely costs in the £18 - £20 bracket.

Wilhelminawonka · 03/10/2018 06:47

Does anyone know if the Tesco toy sale is any good? The website isn't showing much. Will I have to go to a superstore to see what's on offer?

Alanamackree · 03/10/2018 07:23

@YourHandInMyHand I got a fake lego Christmas train on AliExpress for under the tree. It doesn’t come with a working engine so we borrow that from ds’ lego and then it winds its way through fake present tunnels and the Christmas village around the tree. Visiting dc love it and mine like to add lego creations to the display over the course of Christmas. Cost about €30 or so.

Ready to robot are buy one get one free in smyths at the moment for the singles and the packs of pilots. They’re sort of like lols for boys with robots and slime and horrific amounts of plastic and all my ds’s will talk about at the moment.

There were also a couple of OG dolls reduced slightly - the one with hair chalks and the one in the dungarees with the ice cream accessories,

Spam88 · 03/10/2018 07:33

jammie Santa's bag wouldn't show up in an App Store search and I wasn't able to download it from the website, but it worked when I tried from my previously downloaded apps (which I didn't know was a thing). It's on the home page of the App Store if you click the little face button for your account and then 'purchased' in case you were also unaware of its existence! Tried a few other apps when I thought I wasn't going to be able to get it and didn't think any of them were as good...

CheekyFucker · 03/10/2018 07:50

Giant Playmobil Pirate is a good price on Amazon. Only 5 left this morning.

Re Amazon lego - I had a feeling it was on here in the past that they drop lego prices at the time of the Argos 3 for 2 to make them comparable. I've just ordered two of the Harry Potter sets for DS at discounted prices.

CheekyFucker · 03/10/2018 07:57

I think I recall a very angry discussion about recommending fake Exploding Kittens on a previous thread.

duckling84 · 03/10/2018 07:57

I can't believe I'm actually considering this but..... poopsie slime surprise - is 9.5 too old for it? Getting dsd a slime making kit and wondering if I should spend far too much money just for brownie points for the playground favourite go for that or just a more basic kit

imsorryiasked · 03/10/2018 08:00

Morrison's have four for £5 on sweet/choc "boxes" - see photos
