Thought I’d do a ‘how to’ for a couple of things people often post about not being sure of

To do click links you do this put link in here then a space then the name or phrase you want to go with the link . Don’t put a space between the start of the link and the and then last word and the like I have or it won’t work but I had to to demonstrate.

Second message has a few links and info which I’ll slowly build up, let me k ow if there’s anything you’d like me to add to it Thanks

Just been asked for an "American doll". Is this a thing?

Drummingisfun · 02/10/2018 18:34

I am so out of my depth with kids toys. What on earth is a unikitty?

Unihorn · 02/10/2018 18:34

@onedayatatime73 if they're referring to American Girl dolls, they're about £150 over here for some reason Shock compared to $60 in the US.

Jammiebammie · 02/10/2018 18:38

@onedayatatime73 - my dd was obsessed with American girl dolls and we caved (2, maybe 3 years ago) and bought a ‘truly me’ one. They are really expensive, but we bought from my doll boutique, I’ve had a look now though and not sure the website exists anymore? Much better buying from the Uk as the customs and import charges are eye watering.

The ‘our generation’ range at smyths fits the American girl dolls though, and the accessories are really cute so my dd mostly has those playsets with her American girl doll. (They sell OG in target in the US so a lot of videos on YouTube showing American girl dolls have the our generation stuff in them, so dd was really happy with that)
She does also have an our generation doll, and although the quality is vastly better from American girl, my dd doesn’t really care and loves them both just as much.

There’s also designa friend, Sindy, journey girls and a few others a similar size, but personally I think the our generation ones are miles better, and have very cute accessories and playset add ons.

imsorryiasked · 02/10/2018 19:01

@fraggle84 went to m&s this morning and they had big (square and deep) black/gold tins of Belgian chocolate biscuits at £7.50 from £15

imsorryiasked · 02/10/2018 19:11

Wilkos in-store today had their own brand dolls which look a lot like Our Generation ones. However they also do outfits for £5 which may be helpful if you go for a genuine doll. Same for Barbie size dolls too.
Also had quite a lot of Hatchimals, Lol and shopkins stuff but didn't appear to be discounted.

luckiestgirl · 02/10/2018 19:47

Exploding Kittens does look great. It’s £20 on amazon right now but camelcamelcamel says it’s been £14 before. Is there a deal anywhere else?

luckiestgirl · 02/10/2018 19:50

My 4 year old has asked for a steam train with real steam. Does such a thing exist?

walkingintherain23 · 02/10/2018 20:00

Luckiestgirl - you can get some Trackmaster Thomas trains that give off steam, my son has one and loves it!

Jammiebammie · 02/10/2018 20:08

Was going to mention the track master ones too!
this little tikes one has real steam too, but it’s a building one, never seen one like it before but looks rather big.

Methenyouplus4 · 02/10/2018 20:09

Just wanted to thank YOURANUS Grin for the Lottie brownie doll. I bought it and think I will get another for her and perhaps a boy for her brother as from distamt childhood memories, it isn't much fun to just have one. I showed her them online and she was drawn to the snowy/ballgown one which is annoying as DB already bought her an Elsa doll and trying to steer away from those wide eyed, tiny waisted, heavily made up dolls. Plus think play is a lot more limited than the 'real life' ones.

Also thank you for Cath Kidson heads up, got lovely wallet for youngest DS for £4.

livingthegoodlife · 02/10/2018 20:23

Thank you to previous poster for the camel camel camel link, I never knew! Bought the Sylvanian families department store for £80 rather than £119 so feeling happy!

OnlyGlowingSlightly · 02/10/2018 20:24

beagadorsrok how about a Moulin Roty soft doll like this ?

Drummingisfun · 02/10/2018 20:28

The home bargains store by me had lots of that Pie Face game for £5 this morning.

livingthegoodlife · 02/10/2018 20:38

To the person looking for Lego storage boxes - they had them in Homebargains £12.99. I think that's quite good?

NoHufflefucksGivenMugglefucker · 02/10/2018 20:53

drumming unikitty is a kitty unicorn hybrid character from the Lego movie film ☺️

OnlyGlowingSlightly · 02/10/2018 20:56

(I know the Moulin Roty one isn't an aviator, but the style seems to match the little prince)

There is an Amelia Earhart Barbie, but it's still quite barbie-ish (and very expensive)

Fannyfanakerpants · 02/10/2018 21:09

Those of you looking for Exploding kittens, I got an ali express one lastvyear for a fraction of the price. It took ages to arrive but seems no different to a friend's genuine one.

LoudestRoar · 02/10/2018 21:17

For anyone needing sleeping space for any extras over Christmas, we just picked this camp bed up for £7.50 in our local Tescos.

flooredbored · 02/10/2018 21:22

Lol under wraps are back down to £10.89 on amazon.

gaggiagirl · 02/10/2018 21:38

DD would love a LOL under wraps. Are the amazon ones likely to be genuine?

PurpleSock · 02/10/2018 21:54

Can anyone recommend a seller on Ali Express for exploding kittens please? I don't want to end up with one that looks fake/Is in chinese!

BlueOooChristmas · 02/10/2018 21:55

Just jumping in on the American Girl conversation. We wanted to get our eldest DD (6) one for Christmas. But they were just so expensive and we have no idea if she will really play with it. However it is her Birthday next month so we decided to get an Our Generation doll (at a fraction of the cost) as a starting point. If she really loves it we will get her either another (more expensive) doll for Christmas or some big accessories. I agree with whoever said order from the UK though. I looked at importing one from American Girl myself and there was no benefit really (other than a bit more choice).

Does anyone know if journey girls are still available over here since TRU closed down? I liked the look of those the best but I can only seem to find them on Ebay. :(
