Thought I’d do a ‘how to’ for a couple of things people often post about not being sure of

To do click links you do this put link in here then a space then the name or phrase you want to go with the link . Don’t put a space between the start of the link and the and then last word and the like I have or it won’t work but I had to to demonstrate.

To follow the thread without using up a post to mark place you can click on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first post.

No affiliate links please.

Second message has a few links and info which I’ll slowly build up, let me k ow if there’s anything you’d like me to add to it Thanks

Sorry also would not recommend toot toot, my kids had no interest in it and when they did the tracks just fell apart, total waste of money. Fisher price little people is far better in my opinion.

Smellybears · 27/09/2018 08:36

Can anyone tell me what the jo Malone thing was last year? I’ve read a few times, something about a ‘grabbit’? Just wondering if it’s something I need to look out for this year?!Grin

buckeejit · 27/09/2018 08:55

Doubt if jo Malone game will be on again but like the machines that grab a toy that are hard to win, it was a virtual version where you could 'grab' something that you got feee with a £45 spend - the gifts were various & pretty good but a lot of the same-handwash & shower gel with the odd candle & cologne coming up. I spent about £400 on it as I was on holiday at the time & usually drunk. Most of my Christmas presents sorted now though!

Jammiebammie · 27/09/2018 09:00

@SockEatingMonster aw a Diablo has so many find memories for me as my dad used to have one Smile
I was googling and found some at firetoys but the same brand is actually cheaper on amazon here fun colours, good reviews but think it’s correctly weighted etc (so easier for tricks too)

SockEatingMonster · 27/09/2018 09:21

Ooooo, I'd forgotten about the firetoys website. I shall be disappearing down that rabbit hole later!

Do you know if it's worth buying the better sticks, or will the diabolo (diablo??) work just as well with the basic wooden ones?

Thank you!

gaggiagirl · 27/09/2018 09:40

wornoutboots Thank you for the jute bags link I was after some just like them after admiring the body shop ones this year. Can't wait to get them.

Monkeymonstermum · 27/09/2018 10:12

@prominent5 thank you so much for the Emma B code - got father his uni city mug and son some melamine crockery he’ll love!

vroc81 · 27/09/2018 10:15

I’m really surprised about the toot toot reviews.. ok the advent calander is only worth it half price but you’re opening it not them... but we’ve inherited and been gifted track road and animal track which all go together and it’s one of our best toys it’s played with all the time and stays together despite a toddler banging it around.. noise gets on my nerves mind Wink but anyway..

We’re doing couples gifts this year and was thinking of something like thespicery delivery as they like cooking but not exactly that one as they don’t like spicy foods - leaves me a bit stumped.. can’t do coffee or alcohol either...

Also does anyone know when Lidl do their wooden toys?

Tildero · 27/09/2018 10:38

I’ve bought the toot toot amusement park I will stick with that and see if she likes it!
What we convince ourselves the babies will like they don’t!
For example DD 10 months currently plays with a bottle filled with rice and glitter and 49p volley ball from Aldi! Hmm remind me why I’m spending a fortune on toys for her!!!

yumyumpoppycat · 27/09/2018 10:38

Have just done a book people order with EPIC30 code mentioned earlier - there are restrictions so check as you go along when you are ordering that discount is applied, think it covers most hand picked favourites but not all.

buckeejit · 27/09/2018 10:45

I ordered from the book people recently & they haven't the sets I want- heroes of Olympus & Alex Rider but found them for a good price on snazal so ordered! Will need to curb the spending soon 😬

weebarra · 27/09/2018 10:48

Just a note that there is a minimum spend of £40 in order to get the half price shower gel at l'occitaine.

KitKatCHA · 27/09/2018 10:55

This years Lego Advent Calendars are currently reduced on Amazon, the City and Friends versions are £16.71, normally £22.99 and the Star Wars one is £18.16, normally £24.99.

Also the LOL Surprise Pearl is £21.79, doesn't say on the listing but I think the normal price is £29.99

Changingagain · 27/09/2018 11:12

I should clarify that toot toot in general has been a big hit with my ds and we have gathered a lot, mostly second hand. It's just the advent calendar that I thought was a load of rubbish. He was opening it himself but lost interest pretty quickly, unlike the year before when he clearly enjoyed and got excited about his calendar despite only being one.

Drummingisfun · 27/09/2018 11:14

I might look on book people for some to gift to reception class at school. The selection they have in the classroom are terrible.

EverybodyKeepCool · 27/09/2018 11:26

The Spicery are releasing an advent calendar soon according to their website. No idea on prices but their kits are really good so may be worth keeping an eye out

GruffaloStick · 27/09/2018 11:43

specialK24 I noticed a princess Ariel bath vanity make up kit in Sainsbury's clearance yesterday it was approx £5.50 !
Can't find on their website but this was it www.amazon.co.uk/Disney-Princess-Ariel-Bath-Vanity/dp/B00DNZ5CRU?tag=mumsnetforum-21

DanceDanceDance80 · 27/09/2018 12:14

Looking at the my little pony set from Argos. It's 59.99 which is more than I want to spend really. Does anyone know if they've hiked the price because of the 342 offer. Thanks!

chillimice · 27/09/2018 12:26

I sadly can’t get that Birchbox code to work, it only liked me enough to use COUPLE for 2 boxes for £10.. but I’m happy enough with that as there’s a benefit powder this month, so thank you drumming!

OhHolyFuck · 27/09/2018 12:47

BFG monopoly is down to £13

Also noticed Cath Kidston are doing an advent calendar this year although that's a non-bargainous £40

DangerousMouse · 27/09/2018 12:47

Did you get the birch box for £10 delivered? I can't get COUPLE to work..

NoWordForFluffy · 27/09/2018 13:12

Nothing to do with bargains, but John Lewis' Christmas shop is up and running in Liverpool. There's some weird old themes this year! 😂

CarrotVan · 27/09/2018 13:20

TK Maxx had Hatchimal, LOL Surprise and Fingerling stuff (not the core products), lots of Playmobil, mostly country and 4D (I think), lots of nanoblock kits

Loads of Le Creuset, Alessi and other good kitchen brands

Loads of gorgeous candles

And Emma Bridgwater mugs from £7...

PinglePongle · 27/09/2018 13:42

Scruff a luvs are £14.53 on Amazon

Alexindisguise · 27/09/2018 13:52

A few years ago, on a recommendation from this thread, I bought some personalised leather cuff bracelets. I can't remember the name of the company, it was a mans name I think, can anyone help? Thanks
