Thought I’d do a ‘how to’ for a couple of things people often post about not being sure of

To do click links you do this put link in here then a space then the name or phrase you want to go with the link . Don’t put a space between the start of the link and the and then last word and the like I have or it won’t work but I had to to demonstrate.

To follow the thread without using up a post to mark place you can click on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first post.

No affiliate links please.

Second message has a few links and info which I’ll slowly build up, let me k ow if there’s anything you’d like me to add to it Thanks

We always just do sweet cones when they get older

CarrotVan · 30/09/2018 15:48

@ziggy911 TK Maxx has some fab nanoblock kits that are a couple of pounds. I got a tree frog for DH for Christmas

Or Toys for a Pound have juggling balls, sets of magic tricks, fake rubik’s cubes, loads of superhero blind bag type things, finger skateboards, slime and silly putty tubs...

MishMashMosher · 30/09/2018 15:53

I don't know if anyone buys dvds anymore but toy story 3 is only £3.77 on amazon.

FireflyGirl · 30/09/2018 15:54

She has been severely reprimanded, yumyum! Grin (And tried to pass the blame to my Auntie, who apparently brought it round. They're as bad as each other!)

Ziggy I've seen on MN before where people bought a job lot of footballs and handed them out.

Sports Direct have 28 balls for £65 but I'm sure there was a better deal, I just can't remember it!

ZIGGY911 · 30/09/2018 16:00

Ive got 14 coming so the cheaper the better. He went to a party yesterday where he got a football so I can't do that. Will go to tkmax and have a look thank you. Toys for a pound is a good idea too, thanks.

NoWordForFluffy · 30/09/2018 16:16

I recycled the Smyths catalogue before the DC saw it! We don't have a store local enough to bother with once diesel costs are taken into account, sadly.

FireflyGirl · 30/09/2018 16:25

That had been the plan, Fluffy, but I wasn't fast enough... We're rural, so there's not one very close, but there is one 10 minutes from DM! If she does it again next year, I'll be sending her to Smyths on bargain day!

NoWordForFluffy · 30/09/2018 16:55

That's a reasonable punishment, @FireflyGirl! Xmas Grin

StarShapedWindow · 30/09/2018 16:58

Ziggy - this year I gave our army style torches from Amazon. They came with colour filters and cost about £5.00. I put one tour here and a handful of ‘retro’ sweets in each bag.

StarShapedWindow · 30/09/2018 17:00

Sorry, should say I put one torch and a handful of

LokiBear · 30/09/2018 17:43

Vtech toot toot pirate ship was only £28.99 in costco. Which is annoying as I bought it in smyths. Dh keeps pointing out that the money I saved in Smyths makes it the same price, but I still feel a bit annoyed.

thewayoftheplatypus · 30/09/2018 18:40

Ziggy- I haven no idea if 11yo boys still like Lego (my oldest is 5!) but if they do WHSmiths still have the Lego figure bags on buy one get one free. And the series 17 ones have been reduced to £2.49 in the first place. Just spent £10 on 8 for my sons upcoming party!

smartiecake · 30/09/2018 18:42

Does anyone have a code for the disney store please?

Reastie · 30/09/2018 18:58

Ziggy and firefly - I know you don't want footballs for this time - but for those looking for cheaper, I've given out the cheaper balls (sometimes with a football print, others have faces or assorted designs on) that are a pound from Asda or Poundland, which have gone down well.

Sports Direct do have a sale department which sometimes has great bargains for a pound (one year they had jelly watches for 50p to which I added a tennis ball - 30p, also SD, and a bag of sweets which went down well and wasn't tat)

I also found a good little craft kit in the Range for a pound for ds2's 10th birthday which looked like it was worth more and was suitable for older kids.

I haven't bought them because I haven't been organised enough to remember to order in time, but ebay has some survival wristbands which ds1 has had his eye on - this sort of thing - survival bracelet

You can often get them for about a pound (especially if you have time to wait for them to come from HK/etc) and there are lots of different colours so they can all have the same but different so no arguing about which one belongs to who. However, just make sure you get one that doesn't have a blade in it as some do!
