Thought I’d do a ‘how to’ for a couple of things people often post about not being sure of

To do click links you do this put link in here then a space then the name or phrase you want to go with the link . Don’t put a space between the start of the link and the and then last word and the like I have or it won’t work but I had to to demonstrate.

To follow the thread without using up a post to mark place you can click on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first post.

Second message has a few links and info which I’ll slowly build up, let me k ow if there’s anything you’d like me to add to it Thanks

@smellybears I personally am not a fan of mega blocks. You can’t do much with it other than towers. I would go straight for duplo!
Or, if you must, get it second hand as you won’t be using it long

Rockhopper81 · 17/08/2018 17:14

I would recommend Duplo over Megablocks too - particularly if you’re looking to add to it over time, as there are so many different types of piece that interact.

Smellybears · 17/08/2018 17:14

Fab thank you! Saves me some pennies too Grin Ive bought him some duplo today so I’m glad you said that!

nugget18 · 17/08/2018 17:15

The Duplo was in store. Plenty of them. Didn't realise the full price till I saw it in two other shops!

Wait4nothing · 17/08/2018 17:16

@smellybears
We haven’t had mega blocks but have been adding to dd1s duplo collection since her first Christmas at 7 months. She’s now got lots of bricks, a range of farm stuff some other animal sets and an aeroplane. Great for relatives to add to and all together in one box. We had it as kids and still played even when we had proper Lego too.

Smellybears · 17/08/2018 17:18

Fantastic thank you for the duplo advice!
Been looking at Hape stuff too. Looks lovely and colorful but has anyone any reviews of it, is it any good?

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 17/08/2018 17:19

that toys for a pound link is awesome, just bought a bunch of stuff for my niece and nephew that they will love!

Ewock · 17/08/2018 17:20

I've just spoken to a lady at Magpies to check the status of my order. She said any orders from 7th onwards (I ordered on the 7th) are delayed as they ran out of stock and had to wait for it to come from their remote warehouse. Mine will be fulfilled Tuesday next week. So delivery won't be until Wednesday at the very earliest. She was very nice and I said no worries. I think the success of the sale has taken them by surprise Grin

FlamingoMingo · 17/08/2018 17:24

@stressbucket1 great find on the Boden socks, thanks. I've just ordered two sets for my DTD's Smile

weebarra · 17/08/2018 17:26

Thank you for the Boden code! DS2 was complaining today that his socks were too small, so I've sorted that now!

desperatelyseekingcaffeine · 17/08/2018 17:32

If anyone's after magformers at a reasonable price, Smyth's have a 64 piece house set for £20, should be about £65 (it's quite pink, but loads of pieces for the price). Also the magformers website has a few sets half price.

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 17/08/2018 17:32

@Smellybears we had Hope blocks for ds1 when he was 1, he still plays with them occasionally at almost 5. Not the most loved toy, but has definitely been useful through the years. Now he's older he uses it to mark out car parks or roads for his cars.

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 17/08/2018 17:33
  • Hape Grin
Smellybears · 17/08/2018 17:35

@ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual thank you. Might put them on amazon wishlist then for people to buy him. I’m a FTM and never had little ones in the family to buy for so struggling what to get!

livinginhope87 · 17/08/2018 17:42

Michael Kors has a sale on there website some bags are 70% off.

Rockhopper81 · 17/08/2018 17:45

I bought the Hape cars for my nephews a few years ago - went down really well and was a diffferent type of car than they were used to. They were bigger than their diecast cars too, so better for ‘zooming’ across the floor! I like the Hape stuff and would certainly look to buy it again. 😊

Smellybears · 17/08/2018 17:53

@Rockhopper81 thank you!

PamelaEwing · 17/08/2018 18:02

Asda and Tesco are both offering wine deals giving 25% off a massive range of lines including Prosecco and Champagne ready for the upcoming bank holiday weekend (or for Christmas in our case)!! Grin

JurassicGirl · 17/08/2018 18:05

Thanks nugget I'll pop into Asda & see what they've got :)

Coffeecoffeebuzzbuzzbuzz · 17/08/2018 18:13

Do any of you use an app to keep organised? I used a good app on iPhone last year but can’t remember for the life of me what it was called so can’t find it to re download to get organised. I have so many gifts to get this year and it’s going to be very easy to overspend- anyone have any recommendations?

PastaSauceHoarder · 17/08/2018 18:55

@Smellybears I've currently got DUPLO My First Emotions in my eBay basket at the mo, £9.99 with free postage. I saw the box in Hamleys yesterday (for double the price) and its quite big!

@BadgetFace good tip, thanks! I've had my eye on the Playmobil 123 advent calender for a while now, it looks fab.

@Coffeecoffeebuzzbuzzbuzz I'm using the Gift List app, super easy to navigate and it keeps a tally of what you've spent (its in dollars, but still).

teaorwine · 17/08/2018 19:11

Hi does anyone have a code for free delivery for Boden, please ? Ideal part of gift for hard to buy friend....

Whenasuitcasejustwontdo · 17/08/2018 19:30

Oh. I'm guessing the boden socks linked earlier are for children if people are buying for their dcs? If so I've ordered baby socks for myself Blush

stressbucket1 · 17/08/2018 19:32

Y2M9 should get you 20% off full price and free delivery. Also those with Boden £10 voucher emails you can get 20% off and then apply the voucher on top at payment!

stressbucket1 · 17/08/2018 19:34

Also Sainsbury's had pillow pets half price in store £10 each
