So we're nearly there now, I'm counting down on one hand the number of sleeps!

Still time to post info on Christmas bargains but I'd also love to hear how the gifts you got went down on the big day and also share notes on sale finds

HAPPY CHRISTMAS,!!!

For anyone on the look out for advent calendars the Thomas train calendar is now £10 at asda. Originally 30 I think. I bought it for £17 this year for my 2 year old and hes loved it so I would recommend. Happy Christmas eve all!!

Theonlyoneiknow · 24/12/2017 10:22

Thanks for all the tips all, I feel like I need to lie down in a quiet room as it is also DS birthday tomorrow!

bunbunny · 24/12/2017 11:13

I've just had my first present from dh - an 8(10?) foot inflatable snowman who is currently dancing in the garden... GrinShockHmmConfusedGrin

Ds1 came to tell me to look out of the window - preceded by 'it's ok mummy, we only paid £12 instead of £50 and anyway you were the one that suggested we went to Bunnings for lunch...'. Which is true - they love the sausage sizzles at Bunnings so dh took them so I could do some wrapping without them seeing. Glad to see that ds1 has picked up on the bargain spotting - I think! Grin

And if anybody wants bargains - Bunnings has giant Snowmen for £12 and as of yesterday the santas were still £50. They also had big plastic tote bags of icy blue baubles for £3 (red only reduced to £7), and lots of trees, including one from £500 to £100 - luckily they didn't get one of those...

TimeForMy10thCuppa · 24/12/2017 11:16

Can't stop laughing at this, wish I was there to see it Xmas Grin

So my mum got 2 of the woolovers deal, one for dad for Christmas and one for Valentines Day, one each for 2 of my uncles. She is a worrier and was stressing about the fit when they came so I measured them against 3 jumpers that dad wears and they were the right size. I didn't think any more of it but yesterday she was wrapping and started worrying about the size again Xmas Hmm

She decided that she would have to get dad to try it on, if it fits she knows the ones for my uncles will fit, only she didn't want dad to see his present. So she told him to shut his eyes so that he wouldn't see, went to put it on him and said "oh no, what if you feel it? You will know what it is....put gloves on!" Xmas Confused

So dad was standing there with his eyes shut, gloves on, mum dressing him. He started 'guessing' what it was she had got him "is it a speed boat? No its socks isn't it? Did you get me a car? Don't tell me it's trousers? No its definitely new slippers I can tell...." with mum telling him off for moving because he was laughing and ready to hit him for winding her up guessing Xmas Grin

I was laughing so much when they were telling me that I ended up crying! I can just picture it, dad is a wind up merchant so the 'guessing' is just so him! As I was leaving he whispered to me "it's OK, you can tell me, it's a scarf isn't it" which started me off again!

I don't know how mum thought that he wouldn't know it was a jumper if he shut his eyes and put gloves on before she put it on him, but he's got his surprised face ready Xmas Grin

Oh and it was true to size, as I told her it was, as I showed her it was Xmas Hmm Oh well, at least she's given us all a laugh

@TimeForMy10thCuppa there's a Christmas bargain prequel thread which runs all year, posted by Chips, then in September Reastie starts the proper threads!

cookiefiend · 24/12/2017 14:27

Thanks everyone for the grandma advice. Have a soft warm cardigan thing 150 photos (?!) two frames some books and jewellery a lovely blanket, some DVDs and a pile of experience vouchers coming from various members of the family.

I'm pretty sure there is no perfect gift- I think we all just had a wee wobble!

I'll see you all on the prequel thread- just got some wrapping to finish and a gingerbread house to decorate. Merry Christmas!

asuwere · 24/12/2017 17:26

Thanks for all the tips, links, bargains and fun Xmas Smile
Thought you'd all appreciate the Lisa Angel sale has started!
Merry Christmas.

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 24/12/2017 19:00

John Lewis sale has started.

This is usually when I get the bulk of the dcs clothes, so this year I put loads of stuff in my basket the day before and then checked out once the sale started. It worked well, so a tip for next year everyone!

73kittycat73 · 24/12/2017 19:14

Thank you Saladtongs for the Tesco trees' tip off. I was after a white Christmas tree for next year and got a 6' one, £13.00 inc postage!
I just wanted also to say thank you for all the threads. I haven't posted much but have enjoyed reading them. Thank you Reastie for the threads. Thank you all for contributing. I hope you all have a marvellous Christmas and lots of fun! Merry Christmas everyone! Xmas Grin

73kittycat73 · 24/12/2017 19:19

SideOrderofSprouts · 24/12/2017 20:08

Boots sale has started but you have to queue to get on the site?!

glitterglitters · 24/12/2017 20:11

Just bought all the things I wanted from ASOS for a fraction of the cost but missed out on all the things I wanted from Topshop sob

mycatislickingherpaw · 24/12/2017 21:43

Thanks for the John Lewis heads up! I was going to merrily wait until tomorrow evening otherwise!!

MorbidMuch · 24/12/2017 22:03

Cookie, it sounds like a difficult time, but your family sounds lovely. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas.

I've been on and off these threads, mostly lurking. Thanks for all the great tips and ideas. I gave 5 year old DS his Wonderbly book this evening (The Little Boy Who Lost His Name) and he was beyond thrilled with it. He couldn't get over the fact that it was a story 'about him' and had a message from us printed in there.

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 24/12/2017 22:11

I've just bought a load of Christmas wrapping paper from JL. Thanks for the heads up.

DumbledoresArmy · 24/12/2017 22:36

Thank you so much for this thread guys!! Seriously it's been amazing!!

Merry Christmas everyone xx
