So we're nearly there now, I'm counting down on one hand the number of sleeps!

Still time to post info on Christmas bargains but I'd also love to hear how the gifts you got went down on the big day and also share notes on sale finds

HAPPY CHRISTMAS,!!!

Same here, Shifty. Neither child asked for one but when someone mentioned the reduced argos playset with two I went for it. Both children love them! They're both under the recommended age but that hasn't been an issue.

JenniferYellowHat1980 · 26/12/2017 20:21

I like the Fingerling better than DD who is more interested in Minecraft and Lego. Poopyhead has been unexpectedly great.

hashtagelfie · 26/12/2017 20:23

That's good to hear about the fingerlings. I've decided to save the one o bought ds(5) for his birthday in 3 weeks.

Very currently have the iPhone SE for £279. Curry's have it for £299. Te Apple website still has it for £349 so I'm crazily thinking about buying one for dd for next Christmas. That's mad isn't it?

snowflakestar · 26/12/2017 20:27

I think they might have more appeal for younger children, Jennifer? Mine are 2 and 4.

MorbidMuch · 26/12/2017 20:47

I agree with the unexpected success of the fingerling. 5 year old DS hadn't asked for one, but I'd picked up a monkey anyway. He loves it! It's his favourite present. The Code and Go mouse went down well too.

Both Mum and me love our Emma Bridgewater mugs.

I've bought some Christmas cards for next year from the online Oxfam sale.

OhRex · 26/12/2017 21:29

Aaaaagh the blu blu dolphin I bought DD off ebay pre-loved has developed a nasty whirring noise within a day of being played with!!!!! The cheapest I can see it new is £34.99 - am I going to have to spend that much to get another??? Waaaaaaah

Oh2beatsea · 26/12/2017 21:42

Yes same here - my DD age 9 and DN age 4 are both loving the Fingerlings. Makes all that effort seem worthwhile!
My DD is also thrilled with the mannequin hairdressing styling head (£15 from Amazon).
Thanks everyone for all your help!

RJnomore1 · 26/12/2017 22:32

Hashtag I would not buy a phone for a years time.

The SE has been out a while too and I suspect Apple may stop supporting it soon.

woodwaj · 26/12/2017 23:00

Is anyone else really underwhelmed by the sales??

torthecatlady · 27/12/2017 00:16

@woodwaj Yes, very! Only twitched at emma bridgewater as they had a mug I wanted on sale and bought a couple of decorations to give my twin baby nephews for next Christmas (which I almost bought full price for this Christmas!)

Struggling to find anything to buy to be honest and I was hoping to stock up the present drawer HmmGrin

HoneyDragon · 27/12/2017 00:18

The iPhone 6 which is a cracking phone will drop in September

MyDcAreMarvel · 27/12/2017 00:35

The se is the same as the iPhone six , it will still be supported on a year. Still would t buy it a year early though.

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 27/12/2017 07:08

Ohrex we got blublu for dd I think for £25. It went down on amazon to £25 and also was in b&m I think. Fwiw it was one of those toys dd played with for about a week and then never touched and it takes up a huge amount of space.

I've bought Christmas cards for next year in the sales and some bits from Boden (their sale has gone down to up to 60% now). I've found a ha,f price handbag I'm hoping to order for myself with Christmas money online too.

Saladtongs · 27/12/2017 07:09

I saw blublu for £28 in my local b&m, try there.

AceyMcLaughlin · 27/12/2017 07:36

Morning! I’ve just ordered 2 of these beautiful Christmas sacks from Lisa Angel - I also got 50p off for signing up to the newsletter; bargain!

MooPointCowsOpinion · 27/12/2017 07:46

Thank you very much for all the bargains help over the past few months, we’ve had a lovely Christmas!
LOL big surprise went down very well with the eldest. The youngest loves her lil love pet ladybird.
Anyone checked out an Ikea store? They’re having a sale and I wondered if it’s really busy, we want to go for tea towels and wine glasses and maybe to see if they have something in the sale we need, but not prepared to fight through crowds.

OhRex · 27/12/2017 08:36

Thanks Reastie and Salad - I'm wondering if I could palm her off with the Holly which seems smaller? Not such a bargain after all - the risk you take when you buy 2nd hand I guess!!

Notlongnow1 · 27/12/2017 09:07

@AceyMcLaughlin I bought the same - lovely although not convinced they would ever have been worth £11?! Also a metal LED light down from £25 to £5 and a bauble :)
Disappointed with online sales. Going to go rl shopping tomorrow!

AceyMcLaughlin · 27/12/2017 09:12

@Notlongnow1 i’m Not convinced they are worth £11 either, seems very excessive! 60p I am happy with though haha! Also disappointed with the online sales, most things are sold out which is a shame!

woodwaj · 27/12/2017 09:41

It's so annoying. I wish they would update them to exclude out of stock properly!

I'm on the look out for stationary for my desk at work and a 2018 family planner but I think I'm going to have to go out!!

hashtagelfie · 27/12/2017 10:00

Yes I'm not buying the phone as I realised Apple US and Apple UK sell their phones for the same price but with the exchange rate at the moment, they are hellishly cheaper in the US (dh is after an iPhone X which is £999 or $999 which is £745!!! Shock) we are visiting the US at the end of August so I will pick one up then for dd.

snowbellina · 27/12/2017 10:09

Thanks for all the Christmas bargain help again this year.

Dd (14) loves her timberland boots (not especially bargainous, but not too bad), and £15 hollister jeans. Naked marshmallow toasting kit went down very well as did the light box and Echo dot.

Ds (11) got his much longed for XBox - that we got at a good price including two controllers and 3 games. He was also happy with his maplin 3D pen and bargainous Shout Game.

Dd (7) is delighted with her hatchimal, fingerling and little live chick and mouse (with run). Hatchimal has been played with a lot, but she hasn't done much with the fingerling yet (despite her telling people it's a favourite present!)

Dh loves his Amazon Echo that I managed to get for £55 with Very discounts.

I think I might start a Christmas account this year instead of buying thing throughout the year, to make sure I only get 'most wanted' gifts.

RJnomore1 · 27/12/2017 10:40

I've got good news

My lk Bennett makeup bag and £25 voucher from the tatler sub turned up in the post this morning. Just in time for the sale.

Dancer!

DelurkingAJ · 27/12/2017 11:37

The magnetic building tiles that were an early bargain have gone down a treat! Thank you to whoever that was.

Thread 20 - the one where we compare notes on how the gifts went down and go sales shopping
nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 27/12/2017 12:00

The card and go seek game went down very well... played it a few times! Fingerling, moana costume and 2ds loved by dd2. DD1 liked her gifts but wasnt wowed by anything (i think she was overwhelmed by quantity)

Oh and dd2 got unicorn poo slime stuck in her hair and on sofa... wasnt impressed!

However next year need to be more restrained some of the cheap bits i bought were crap and the girls were bored of opening gifts after a while.
