Welcome Amiga and pjbanana. Now pj you can't say something like that without telling us where you work. Is it boots by any chance? Please tell me it's boots and that the gift sets are amazing?

I'd love one of those beds! It my moments of day dreaming about moving house when the dc have all fled the nests I have one of those beds especially for hiding Christmas presents! I usually just end up with boxes piled in the corner of my bedroom. So obvious but I guess that's the one advantage of 3 of the dc having the birthdays within 3 weeks of Christmas - I just say they are birthday presents instead and so far no one has gone hunting. Which is strange as I was a present hunter as a child. And not only did I hunt them down but I learnt the art of unwrapping the paper perfectly so that I could rewarp it and no one would know. My mum assures me she never knew until I told her a couple of years ago so I must've been good at it Xmas Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 11/08/2017 16:33

I also did the unwrap / re-wrap thing, Unicorn! Xmas Grin

christmasunicorn · 11/08/2017 16:37

fluffy that may explain why we are both hanging out on the Christmas board in August 😂

Just found the Southern Hemisphere equivalent to Christmas pj's - Christmas swim shorts!! Just dont look at the price

I have my elderly MIL, SIL and DN around and tend to make a big deal of it but I definitely feel like it has lost magic & excitement...going out isn't really an option as MIL has Alzheimer's. Maybe I will do a movie night with tickets & popcorn instead Xmas Confused. We spend all Christmas day at in laws so I like to make an effort for the DC from me iyswim

FridgeCut · 11/08/2017 18:22

Oh AIMGA I wasn't dissing the boxes, my kids are 1 and 4 and we are always out christmas eve so there hasn't been a need really.

How old are your kids?

cookiefiend · 11/08/2017 20:43

My mum never did a christmas even box for me, but there was always one present to open on Christmas Eve which was a video (I am sooo old). When I was little it would be a film and when I was a teenager it was usually a friends video. We also always got skoosy cream for hot chocolate.

I loved it- just a small tradition. It pesky need to be a whole load of stuff.

PJBanana · 11/08/2017 20:47

@christmasunicorn haha I don't want to give too much away but I work for a large retailer (we'll be selling a few of the same things as Boots).

I've already seen a few gift sets that look lovely... I love Christmas gift sets!

SideOrderofSprouts · 11/08/2017 21:21

NoWordForFluffy · 11/08/2017 21:41

AIMGA · 11/08/2017 21:46

SideOrderofSprouts · 11/08/2017 22:05

NoWordForFluffy · 11/08/2017 22:13

OhOurBilly · 11/08/2017 22:17

I'm going to do a Christmas eve box this year. But it's the first year I've ever thought of doing one. DS will be 13 months so will have no idea but I'm going to incorporate my dsis (25, almost 26 at Christmas) and family so that it becomes and thing! We always had new pj's and one present on Christmas eve and I love the idea of starting a tradition. So far, I've only bought one thing, Michael Buble Christmas album! Ordered it yesterday as it was £1.26 on amazon! 😊😀

pinklemonade84 · 11/08/2017 22:36

We bought dd's first christmas present today so it looks like we have started our shopping Smile

I'm contemplating choosing her some paper from studio as the stuff we got from paperchase last year was too strong for her to open Grin

tootsieglitterballs · 11/08/2017 22:58

@pinklemonade84 in our family, wrapping paper for kids has to be the cheap stuff that rips easily!

Night, night Sprouts Xmas Wink Xmas Grin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/08/2017 00:16

Does snake-eyed look @ Sprout
In my defence, I'm looking at QVC, they have knee-high boots (Clarks) as the TSV (Todays Special Value) which means we're heading to A/W , yes?

Not for me though, I don't do leather.

Makes note to check my last winter shoes (M&S pleather ones) are ok for this year.

Hubbabubbababy123 · 12/08/2017 00:18

Listening to Michael buble all day. Def ordering the greatest hits album. Long day today a nicely fractured wrist after a tumble at the bottom of the stairs. 😡 my crafts and my quilt are on the long finger now! (Sorry 😂😂) 6 weeks in plaster. On the plus I was listening to a Spotify track and lily allens somewhere only we know came on and gave me that lovely feeling of how close Xmas is now.

I do Xmas eve boxes. Usually straws- pjs, a little crafty thing (less than half hour job) some hot chocolate sachets and some cookie cutters! I meet family Xmas eve- usually in mine, it's early in the day and we bake cookies with the small kids and they decorate them for Santa and we leave them out. Everyone usually gone by 4 and I sit with the kids and we watch polar express. Bed by 7.30 and it's adult time, spaghetti carbonara, glass of bubbly and at about 11 Santa usually flies in.

I located some lovely clay Santa money banks that you paint yourself so those shall be in the Xmas eve box this year.

I loved seeing all the blackberries there are tons around here but the thoughts of a spider or bug touching me keeps me from picking them 😂

Ho Ho Ho roll on September so the boots, tights and dresses and cardis can come out. I'm terrible wishing away the summer.

FridgeCut · 12/08/2017 01:27

Ouch Hubba! Hope it is a nice, well aligned fracture that will heal beautifully and leave no trace in the long run.

I work for a children's event app and been adding lots of pantomime and lovely stuff recently, makes me feel really excited!

Still can't book tickets for the NT christmas event I want to, really annoying me now! The site says tickets from 10th august, grr and rah.

73kittycat73 · 12/08/2017 03:28

Ouch, sorry to hear about your wrist Hubbabubbababy123. I hope it heals soon.
The board is moving very fast now isn't it?! Hi to all the newbies. Xmas Smile
Has anyone every done a Christmas Eve box for an adult? Any ideas of what I can put in it? I've thought of nighwear and hot chocolate, marshmallows. Can't do DVD as no player. Any Christmas book recommendations? Any ideas gratefully received. Xmas Smile

CbeebiesAddict · 12/08/2017 06:30

Sorry about your wrist hubba :(

I plan to get the Christmas organiser out this weekend, so excited!

We do a pj secret Santa on Christmas Eve and then watch a film with hot chocolate when DS is in bed (he will stay up when he is older obviously). We read him 'The night before Christmas' :)

MarmaladeTeepee · 12/08/2017 07:47

Long time lurker, occasional crasher here. Took the DCs to Telford Wonderland yesterday and their winter wonderland section is open all year round, including a gift shop selling Christmas bits, I was in heaven! Helped of course by the distinctly autumnal weather we had yesterday. Couldn't help but think of you all.

NoWordForFluffy · 12/08/2017 07:58

Morning!

Sorry about your wrist, Hubba. I hope it heals quickly.

Lots to do this weekend, though nothing Christmassy! It's very grey and spitty today. Not good weather.
