I'm sashaying back in I've got over my bout of misery and am feeling festive again!
Christmas shopping has officially started here. I wanted to buy a book for a friend's naming day party this weekend so popped into Waterstones and couldn't resist a few books for DS's Christmas/birthday stash. They're just so cute but I now have to stop myself from reading them before the end of the year!

@73kittycat If the person you're doing the hamper for like Christmas with the ranks then I recommend John Grisham's skipping Christmas. The film was based on this book and it's not too long either.

We don't do Christmas Eve boxes but only really because two of my DC are grown up now and don't like things changing. We do Christmas PJs when we get back from church on Christmas Eve. They are traditionally presents from Nana and then we do nibbles, champagne and Elf.

I'm reckoning pj's, dvd (the snowman), MB CD, going to try and make some gluten free gingerbread biscuits (dsis is intolerant), new mug, father Christmas plate, a board book for ds, maybe a cuddly toy, some slippers. DS will be 13 months and dsis will be almost 26 so I'm trying to incorporate both of them!

DS was baby Jesus in the nativity last year on Christmas Eve (at nearly 4 weeks) and met father Christmas when he was just 4 days old, Christmas passed me by in a whirlwind of dyhydracodeine and sleep deprivation last year so I'm really looking forward to it this year!

I didn't buy the money boxes cause i hadn't the cash. They were just in a local art and craft shop (Ireland) I will take pics when I get them on Tuesday .

My lovely sister is here today to help with some housework cause I won't be able to cope in a mess..

I bought £10 of stamps at Morrisons today with a view to filling the savings card between now and mid December to knock a chunk off my Christmas food shop. I'm going to pick up some M&S gift cards too to spend at the food hall for Christmas goodies.

My Christmas needs to fit into a suitcase as we are travelling for it. How early can cakes be decorated? If fruit cake with proper icing, Months? Months would be a good answer!

Based on how long wedding cakes can last I'd say it would last months time - but I'd probably use royal icing rather than fondant and I'd avoid fragile decorations although I'm not an expert.

I made mini Christmas cakes for DMum and DMIL and transported them on the train. They were fondant iced and were a bit bashed when I arrived. I would suggest packing it in a cake box in a bigger Tupperware container with the space filled with bubble wrap if your luggage allowance permits. Overkill
