Happy First Day of Autumn Everyone! 🍂🍁🌾

ScrappyMalloy · 01/09/2017 08:13

Pinch punch, first of the month to you all (no returns, obviously 😆)

The sun is shining, the sky is blue, but my silver birch says it's autumn by dropping leaves on the lawn, so that's good enough for me!

HairsprayBabe · 01/09/2017 08:27

White rabbits white rabbits happy month to you all!

I can feel it getting closer we will be in double figures before we know it!

CbeebiesAddict · 01/09/2017 09:23

It's Autumn!!!!!!!!

SideOrderofSprouts · 01/09/2017 09:26

First day of autumn is the 22nd??

FireflyGirl · 01/09/2017 09:55

It was 9c and there was dew on the ground this morning. Definitely feeling autumnal now. Although it's forecast to warm up again tomorrow...

Sorted my Christmas boxes out yesterday. Not far off done with presents, and I have some lovely new Christmas decorations to put up. I'm just trying to decide whether to make an autumnal wreath to hang up in the meantime...

CbeebiesAddict · 01/09/2017 10:41

Technically yes sprouts but I go by Dec, Jan and Feb are winter, March, April, May are spring, June, July and August are Summer and September, October and November are Autumn. I can never understand how winter doesn't start until the 22nd December when in my opinion you are in the depths of winter at that point.

I lost my "Organised person" title last night. We were down collecting the boat for an event at the weekend and were talking to someone in DD's class, I asked was he looking forward to school tomorrow (as in today, Friday) - and he said it was only OK being back today, how did DD enjoy her day off?!! Blush We had ALL taken it for granted she was back on 1st this year, but they weren't......Blush morto! DH was in stitches at it (not that he knew either - and he gets all the emails as well!). DD thought it was hilarious - luckily - but I suspect this will go down in her history of "things to remind silly mummy of" on numerous occasions.

After that mortification, and getting DD actually sorted for school, I was not fit for another night of sorting, so I had a glass of wine and laughed at QI instead. But I have made a decent dent into the study this week (swopped weeks with outdoors - but I need at least 4 more nights in there!). I won't get there this weekend as the event is away (7am start tomorrow!! and home late on Sunday night).

One corner done is the giftwrapping pile - so I have got rid of bits I won't use, and it is now lovely and neat again. So it will be much easier to do any wrapping. And I have plenty of birthday wrapping (especially for boys), but will need another couple of rolls for Christmas (probably one lot of 3for2 in M&S, if they have any nice ones - the grid on the back really does help with neatness in cutting!!).

This is the meteorological first day of Autumn but you're right Sprouts, the Autumnal Equinox is the 22nd and therefore the astrological first day of Autumn. I'm taking today because I just bought my first Pumpkin Spice Latte of the Season! 🎃🍂🍁

SideOrderofSprouts · 01/09/2017 11:32

Argh it's confusing.

It's feeling like autumn. It's September. Kids go back therefore I'm with you.

It's autumn!

Allhallowseve · 01/09/2017 13:12

Can I join ? Iv been lurking .... this is my favourite time of year! I celebrated what feels like the start of autumn today by buying an autum wreath it's beautiful and makes my soul happy 😊

VivaJen · 01/09/2017 13:15

Welcome @Allhallowseve - an Autumn wreath sounds lovely!

Annwithnoe · 01/09/2017 14:17

But surely if 21st Dec is midwinter, and 21 June is mid summer, with each season being 3 months apiece, then autumn is August, Sept and October.
Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 01/09/2017 14:52

Autumn isn't August! September is (though today's weather is better than we've had for a while!).

I finish up in Glasgow next week, then I'll be working in Liverpool soon enough. I bet Christmas flies round!

QuimJongUn · 01/09/2017 21:01

Ahem

Countdown to Christmas Part 3
NoWordForFluffy · 01/09/2017 21:55

Where's that, Quim?

VivaJen · 01/09/2017 21:59

Is that Marks & Spencer?

smellylittleorange · 01/09/2017 22:05

Squeeeee!

NoWordForFluffy · 01/09/2017 22:39

Still no food offering from them though!

QuimJongUn · 01/09/2017 22:50

Yep, M&S. They also have their Christmas shortbread tins in at half price, and loads of Christmas chocolates at half price/three for £7 too. My Christmas food cupboard is looking very healthy again! Xmas Grin

QuimJongUn · 01/09/2017 22:53

Btw me and DH are sitting here under our autumn throws looking at last year's Christmas file for 'ideas' wallowing in Christmas lushness.

Best time of the year ahead, bar none Xmas Smile

TheWoollybacksWife · 02/09/2017 00:11

Disappointing shopping trip today although I did manage to get DS a couple of bits of Slytherin stuff in Primark.

VivaJen · 02/09/2017 07:18

Thanks QuimJongUn I don't get the chance to go into M&S as often as I used to & I didn't want to miss when they start their offers.

CbeebiesAddict · 02/09/2017 08:14

I can't believe M&S have betrayed us fluffy by releasing Christmas stuff before the food catalogue!

NoWordForFluffy · 02/09/2017 08:25

It's just shocking behaviour, CBeebies! 😱😡
