laplin what about things they would need anyway- new pants and vests or hats. Maybe pens for drawing and a magazine. Some people say a little box of treat cereal for that morning etc.

stealthsquiggle · 04/11/2016 09:55

lapin - I bulk out stockings with socks/pants/gloves. Others have also suggested individual serving cereal boxes in the past. Those, and a book, plus a couple of silly things (bouncy ball, skipping rope) would fill it up nicely.

Does anyone have any codes that would stack on top of today's 25% off Boden Coats and Knits? DD definitely doesn't need a new coat as she has inherited plenty from DS, but she would really love one of their cosy parkers if I could get the price down low enough to justify it...

stealthsquiggle · 04/11/2016 09:56

xpost with cookie - great minds and all that.

AmyMumsnet · 04/11/2016 10:00

Just use code MUMSNET20 to claim your discount. Hope this is handy for a lot of you!

Lapinlapin · 04/11/2016 10:08

Good ideas on things they need. I think bizarrely they'd love some cereal too!! A skipping rope is a good idea too. Thanks! Just need to find a few more smallish things.

pantherfootballforever · 04/11/2016 10:17

Lapin my DC always get some glue or sellotape in their stockings as well as new pens/pencils and the older ones get tippex. I find that by Christmas the school pencil cases are somewhat depleted anyway and of course when we need glue or tape for some marvellous homework we can never find any! This way they all have their own. until they lose them sometime in February that is

We also buy new socks every year as they always need those, and pants if they are needed. I also buy them all a t-shirt as they can be rolled quite small and squished in.

I do a bare minimum of party bag crap as I just don't want the house filled with it.

Trying to think what else my 6 year olds are getting this year - a Lego Mixel and a Lego minifigure. A chocolate orange of course. Can't remember what else I've bought!

PurpleSock · 04/11/2016 10:22

Has anyone got a spare chalk pens code please? Haven't had an email through for the earth ones yet.

Whatdoesaturkeydo · 04/11/2016 10:27

Thanks you Amy Mumsnet
As I have 6 little and not so little darlings are house is drowning in toys so we are taking them to DL Paris for a week in January as their main present

I have been eyeing up the personalised soft toys at Disney store for a few weeks so I think between cashback and 20% off I can justify the cost - I'm going to attach their ticket to them.

Heavenscent86 · 04/11/2016 10:36

Where could I buy a decent children's bike for a 10 year old that doesn't cost the earth? Any ideas?

ZIGGY911 · 04/11/2016 10:37

Id agree with Tiggles, the minecraft story books are great. My son and husband are addicted to them and are now back into reading every night before bedtime.

AmyMumsnet · 04/11/2016 10:38

That sounds like a great idea whatdoesaturkeydo. I bet they'll be thrilled with the idea of going to Disney Land too!

pantherfootballforever · 04/11/2016 10:41

What's your budget Heaven? I have to admit that we don'6 but cheap bikes in this house as they tend to not be worth it, and at age 10 you should be able to get a bike which will last a good few years. (Depending on height of child)

If you would consider second hand then eBay is worth a look or alternatively there is a pre-owned islabikes page on fb. We recently sold two islabikes for about 60% of their new cost and they didn't have a scratch on them. (Could actually have sold them for more but wanted rid quickly and locally) One of them was going to a wee girl for her birthday present and dad came to look before buying as he wanted it to look new and with a quick clean it looked in perfect nick. Might be worth checking out

EmGee · 04/11/2016 10:55

Wasn't someone looking for Disney Magiclip dolls in one of the threads? If so, they are available at Wilkos for 3.50 each but in-store only

Heavenscent86 · 04/11/2016 10:57

Well she is only just showing an interest in riding a bike and I don't know if she will stick to it. I was hoping it's possible to get one for around £100 and then upgrade later if she takes to it but they all seem so pricey. I will check this islabikes page though thank you.

Whatdoesaturkeydo · 04/11/2016 11:00

AMY I know they will be thrilled I have 5 year old twins who want to be Disney princesses and an eccentric 10 year old who's bucket list (!!) apparently includes high fiving a storm trooper and as the Star Wars festival is on when we are there it may well happen. I cannot wait to see their faces as we have told them that it would simply be to expensive to ever go

It was highly bargainous £900 for 8 of staying a week half board so I have stayed true to the bargain hunting
Disclaimer
I am being naughty taking them out of school please do not judge we have had an awful year

NiceCupOfTeaAndASitDown · 04/11/2016 11:03

So disappointed that the scooters I'm after (Globber) aren't included in the Argos 3 for 2. If anyone sees any on offer please do update

Unluckycat1 · 04/11/2016 11:11

lapin stickers are always a big hit here in stockings, splash out and get the nicer raised ones that are easier for little hands (loads on ebay and always good ones in paperchase), maybe some little books for them to stick them in. Keeps mine entertained a bit longer on christmas morning.

Anyone had a dispatch email from playmobil yet?

Thekidsthatpukedxmas · 04/11/2016 11:17

NiceCupOfTea I'm not sure which globber scooter that you are after (I vaguely remember you needing more than one) but this one is quite heavily discounted on Amazon, compared to current Argos prices, if it's any good to you?

They have the 'fixed' one in 3 colours available, red, blue and green

Whatdoes no flaming here, that sounds amazing!
