Hi all

Glad we are all here.... Dp thinks I'm completly crazy, and so do I tbh.
Does anyone else mainly me.. end up spending more on bargins because I just end up buying more than planned?!

chanie44 · 17/04/2015 10:49

Beans - I have a couple of ways to keep on track.

Firstly, I keep a list of what I've bought, who it's for and how much I've spent.

For my children, I work to a budget of say, £50 and see how much I can get for that. For everyone else, I set a budget of say, £15 and try to get then something for under £10.

I buy stocking fillers, which is often cheap crap. I hide them away when opened (they are normally forgotten about due to other presents) and give them out throughout the year, as extra treats.

chanie44 · 17/04/2015 10:56

For those who can get to Costco, their Christmas presents are fab and they normally start getting then in after the summer holidays.

We've bought the children some fab toys which you don't see on the high street and we always get asked where they are from.

We bought ds a Lego storage head for £24 which was £35 on amazon.

You have to be quick though, as they sell out quickly and once they are gone, they are gone.

nickdrakeslovechild · 18/04/2015 21:20

Tesco direct have the playmobil playground on sale at £15 here

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 18/04/2015 23:17

Costco start their Christmas stock in about late August/early September (certainly by the time the DC go back to school)

I don't look at the toys (mine are teens) but I do buy a set of glass baubles every year.
Their wrapping paper is brilliant - huge rolls, really thick, and it has the 'grid' marking on the back (except the double sided patterned)

Tissue paper and gift bags.
Makes the wrapping much easier ( I cannot abide the see- through wrapping paper that you need to triple wrap to cover the present. False economy)

The most gorgeous Christmas decorations and Tom Smith crackers.

Home bargains have expandable Spider-Man flannels for 19p instead of the £1 they usually are. Great stocking filler

Littlemousewithcloggson · 19/04/2015 12:52

They also have decent light up trick yo yos for 49p

mugglingalong · 19/04/2015 13:03

Lego polybags also make great party bag fillers for children of the right age. For ds' s last party we did polybag, cake and sweet for class party. For 60p each it is a good value toy which gives longer play value than the usual tat.

cerealqueen · 19/04/2015 22:29

My advice is if buying from Amazon, always check the other sellers on the right hand side as often they do the same thing for cheaper, with free delivery without a minimum £10 spend.

FireflyGirl · 22/04/2015 10:56

Angry Birds playhouse reduced from £29.99 to £2.99 here
A decent sized present for not a lot of money!

chanie44 · 22/04/2015 21:45

pantshavenames · 23/04/2015 13:11

FireflyGirl · 24/04/2015 07:47

Wibblypiglikesbananas · 28/04/2015 18:25

Hi all - I've followed these threads for the last few years but never posted. Anyway, ahead of a trip to the UK (we are expats), I was ordering a few bits and pieces to have delivered to my DM's when we are over and found the following. I nearly posted in Chat but then thought - wait, I bet there's a Xmas 2015 thread already. And lo and behold, there was!

www.elc.co.uk/Paddington-Bear-Giant-Floor-Puzzle/140178,default,pd.html#q=Paddington - Paddington puzzle down from £13.99 to £4.

www.elc.co.uk/Pink-Poppets-Pretty-Blonde-Doll/139417,default,pd.html#q=Pink%20doll - rag doll down from £20 to £8. All clothes etc to go with it are also half price.

Happy shopping for the 2015 festive season!

Squeeee! Thanks Wibbly my first Christmas present of the year ordered!

Just got the pink poppet doll with pink hair, and all the outfits and sleeping bag that ELC are selling for £28!

Dd will be 33 months at Christmas so they will b perfect for her.

Kraggle · 30/04/2015 10:00

Just added up the normal price and should have all been £70! Great saving!

Wibblypiglikesbananas · 30/04/2015 13:52

That's exactly what I ordered Kraggle! Such a bargain. My only problem will be if I end up paying for excess baggage on the way home and negate all my savings!

neddle · 30/04/2015 17:48

Bought my first major present this week:

Lego Train Set

Was around £100, reduced to £69 and I used my Quidco cashback to pay for it (you get an extra 6% on your cashback if it's paid by Amazon voucher.)

candykane25 · 30/04/2015 23:13

Ho ho ho. Just came to check if there was activity on the christmas boards because I found myself googling Christmas stuff on EBay today. And there's this! Very happy. I love the clicky links to the bargains.
For those asking how you keep track, I use the No More Socks ap and have all the pressies in those huge jumbo bags you can buy, tucked out of view in the spare room and loft.
I did mislay some presents last year though, was in the loft at 3pm on Christmas Day when I should have been sorting the turkey out.

Note: It doesn't feel right posting on a bargain thread that wasn't started by Reastie!!!
