Was looking for quotes for next thread and the plop up one from elvish made me Grin

As previously, if you shot a link in the OP links isn’t working/no longer in date, please let me know by posting in bold so I can easily see to update Thanks

Ahem, I can’t actually remember if I updated the links from 2 threads ago. I think I have, but I’m not sure. If you spot any links that don’t work and you’ve already told me please tell me again in bold Thanks and sorry.

Just brought the Google Cardboard thingy for DH, BIL & my dad.

Love these threads Grin

I am buying myself this little stamp set for making various Christmasy crafts.

It's cheap and so not built to last but free postage :)

dustybinlydia · 01/10/2014 10:46

Does anybody know if Design a Friend dolls are likely to be enjoyed by a three year old?

I got one in the sale. It's in the cupboard as a possible present for my niece for Christmas. Wasn't sure if I should save it for next year though. She turned 3 at the beginning of September.

If you think I should get something else instead, I'm looking for other ideas for things at around £10.

Thanks

YaMasYaDaWithAWigOn · 01/10/2014 11:00

Dustybin I got one of those dolls too and a ballerina outfit. I'll be giving it to my DD this Christmas, she turned 3 mid July.

dustybinlydia · 01/10/2014 11:08

Thanks, YaMas.

ShowMeShowMeTheWine · 01/10/2014 11:13

admiral re: Gadget the robot.

We got it two years ago and whilst it is a lovely and clever toy, it has barely been played with for more than a few minutes and my children have good attention spans generally. The follow the pattern sequence songs have kept them most interested, where gadget says "twist my left ear", turn my nose, twist my right eye, clap your hands" etc. etc. it's really very clever, but we ended getting a bit frustrated with it as you perform the action and quite often he'll say "oh better luck next time" (or something) even though you fulfilled the action he asked! You must have to be super super quick to perform the task!!

Also to process each letter chip, his twisty nose needs to be turned and we found this a problem as the children kept inserting more and more chips without turning the nose and then chips would get blocked and wouldn't get spat out!!

I think the spelling, letter and word recognition levels could be useful now for school/homework purposes, so I got him out of the toy box again yesterday, but as yet, he has not been touched Hmm.

Visiting children are initially always drawn to him but don't play with him for long.

That is just our experience.....

OK, so I've got the named coke bottles - the christmas pyjamas from the Hut, and lots of christmas bargain books, Grin and I've added some (non-bargainous, but hugely delicious) gourmet popcorn for DNieces and nephew.

Can anyone recommend some great DVD's ? Christmassy or otherwise, to go with my christmas eve hamper?

Ages are girl 13, girl 11, and boy 9.

HollyBen · 01/10/2014 11:59

Totally late to the party on this one.... the Amazon 4 dvds for £10. Is it on all dvds or just specific cost? I have seen the istructions on how to find the amazon sold one's but not sure what to look for when selecting

Also I am looking for a toy bus for DD. Something along the lines if this elc rosebud one http://www.elc.co.uk/Rosebud-Wooden-Village-Bus/133726,default,pd.html so she can sit her dolls house dolls in when they go on trips (gotta love the imagination of 3 years). Anyone seen anything suitable. Most ebay ones are collection onlySad

HopeAndStories · 01/10/2014 12:01

Does anyone know if that cardboard thingy (Confused) works with a Samsung Galaxy ace (android)? Could someone post the link again sorry, please and thank you :)

Dragonboobs · 01/10/2014 12:18

Have just had these pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=170942826927 christmas pyjamas arrive and the quality is v v good. Also ordered a dino set. They are exactly like gap pjs; so much so I suspect they may be made in same factory! Sorry if I haven't done a clicky link!

HopeAndStories · 01/10/2014 12:18

I've had a very successful shopping trip to town this morning. I think I cleared Home bargains of all their Christmas stock Grin

Here's some of the bits I bought. Christmas tree cookie pops- 59p, mini cupcake kits- I can't remember how much, perhaps a couple of pounds (the cookies and cupcakes are for hampers) The red snowflake tray was I think £1 (sorry I don't know where the receipt is!) It's quite deep so I thought it'd be good to put some hamper gifts in, then wrap it in cellophane.

Excuse the mess, my spare room is now the North Pole Wink

I'll have to do another post to post a few more pictures...

Not sure that link will work. Here's a link to their eBay store stores.ebay.co.uk/Vaenait-Baby

PamelaEwing · 01/10/2014 12:31

dragonboobs yes those Vaenait pyjamas came up on this thread last year too and the quality is very good but people had probs with sizing, so just to say to definitely order a couple of sizes bigger than the child's actual age. Wink

HopeAndStories · 01/10/2014 12:35

Argh! I think I'm over the photo limit for today, so I'll just have to describe and perhaps post photos later!

I got some Christmas place mats and coasters, I think these were under £2 (again sorry no receipt to check!)

I also got some Disney Christmas pjs (adult) for £9.99.

I got some jumbo bags (£1.79) to store decorations/gifts in which zip up in the same pattern and material (red with gingerbread men, Christmas trees stockings etc) as the massive gift bags I got for 99p each. I got these instead of the usual huge gift bags I get but they always rip. I hope these'll last.

Then also from Home bargains I got some decorations, tissue paper and other stuff I can't remember.

I got a bargain set of 3 Nails inc varnishes for £4.99 from Savers too. There were different sets and I got one with a bright pink, a navy glittery one and a mulitcoloured one.

iseenodust · 01/10/2014 12:36

Boxed sets of 3 Horrible Histories or Horrible Science for $5 currently in WHSmith.

TrisisFour · 01/10/2014 13:06

Ok peeps, I'm back onto the stocking fillers for my FIL. So far I've got 'Jellyatrics' Jelly Babies, blow up walking stick, Xmas socks and now I'd like to get him a wallet for his bus pass. He's using it nearly every day at the moment (because he's had an operation and can't drive). What I'm not sure of is whether a bus pass these days is the same size as a 'travel card'? I'm trying to order one from ebay but I'm not sure whether the size is right...

Dragonboobs · 01/10/2014 13:11

They probably are actually. But I didn't notice because my boys quite teeny! So I just though ooh yes perfect! I would definatley order up for friends daughter who's the same age.

Dragonboobs · 01/10/2014 13:13

Ahh my phone just auto corrected definitely - to the wrong spelling - brilliant!

marne2 · 01/10/2014 13:14

£1.67 solar powered spider, good stocking filler, reviews are not that great but for that price what do you expect?

www.amazon.co.uk/Big-Bargain-Educational-powered-Spider/dp/B00AAXNPKY/ref=sr_1_3?s=kids&ie=UTF8&qid=1412165482&sr=1-3&keywords=gadget+the+robot

I'm looking for a robot that you build ( but not too tricky ), dd2 keeps eying up the robot that comes with the magazines but no way am I subscribing to that and building a bit each week Smile, just want something cheap and cheerful.

guthriegirl · 01/10/2014 13:22

Love this thread. Totally inspired me to get started. This year I'll be cooking for the first time. Have 11 coming! Elvish · 01/10/2014 13:30

Mum2pea we have this globe and DD is very pleased with it. She has decided we need to go to Japan on our next holiday Hmm so I'm not sure if I would recommend it!
