Now I am nosy intrigued as to how much the dreaded 'twitch' cost you last year. I probably won't start twitching until at least the second week only December when things are getting wrapped... But it cost £140 with oh I don't think dbil has as much as dfil etc etc .

Tell me your stories Grin and make me feel better

OP posts:
octopusinasantasack · 10/12/2013 20:49

Sparkling STOP IT! I have spent too much as it is.
:)

Sparklingbrook · 10/12/2013 20:58

Why won't they deliver? The meanies. Confused

nickdrakeslovechild · 10/12/2013 21:00

How did he do Sparklingbrook? I love him, but not come across that many other people that do. Have converted my OH thou!

Sparklingbrook · 10/12/2013 21:03

He got to the final nick, but didn't win. Not sure what he got in the Nick Drake round but must have been ok, he had to choose more specialist subjects for the later rounds.

bealos · 10/12/2013 21:08

I didn't realise it had a name - 'the twitch'. I know this feeling so well. Get it with every time I buy a present. How to get rid of it? I'd love to give a gift feeling really happy about it.

Sparklingbrook · 10/12/2013 21:18

Oh yes, The twitch likes you to buy a nice gift for someone, wait a week then start-

'Are you sure they will like it?'
'What if they already have one?'
'Didn't you buy them that the year before last?'
'What if they have spent loads more on yours?'
'Take it back'
'No don't take it back-buy something extra to go with it'

Etc......

BayeauxT · 10/12/2013 21:32

Mandy, £10 including the bowl!!?? I paid £10 just for the fish. IAmInvisible, DD has a real fish as well - didn't stop her putting the robofish on Santa's list. I think it will have to be a glorified bath toy .

This thread has made me laugh - I am an awful twitcher. In fact from where I'm sitting I can see a still-wrapped present from TWO YEARS AGO that I never actually gave to anyone...

IamInvisible · 10/12/2013 21:36

DS2 will be 17 on Christmas Eve, Bayeaux, I don't think he knows a Robofish exists. If he were younger, it would be just the sort if thing he would need!

Sparklingbrook · 10/12/2013 21:41

I had a Twitch in Argos. they had Annuals. Annuals! My 2 are 11 and 14 and haven't had an Annual for years. They were only £3.99 though. I was all struck with indecision.

But I was strong and just bought the cordless mouse for DS1 that I wasn't going to get but it was 'only' £13.99 not £19.99. Hmm

2kidsintow · 10/12/2013 21:49

I'm twitching big time.

I've laid out their gifts and they have plenty - when I add on what family are going to give them, I think we'll be struggling to find homes for everything.

And yet...... a lot of what they have is quite same-y. I'm lacking variety this year.

I've also turned my eye to the house now. After a major shift around, we are in a different room. It didn't need redecorating as such, but I have splashed out on a pair of gold fake silk curtains for the living room for £20 from Primark .
And a luscious throw from the same place in the same gold colour, but lined with sheepskin style fluff. I'm very cosy.

And I already had treated DD2 to the gingerbread man Christmas throw from Dunelm.

InTheRedCorner · 10/12/2013 22:02

Stop with the cushion and throws links.

I am done

Cushions are practical though, aren't they?

iheartdusty · 10/12/2013 22:03

aaagh!

I just wandered over to HUKD. Just for a look, mind.

Then it all went dark...and a few minutes later I found I had bought an expansion pack for the Carcassonne game from Amazon..it was such a bargain..and I had been talking to the DC about whether to get an expansion set...but I thought I had decided not to because THEY HAVE ENOUGH.

gwenniebee · 10/12/2013 22:07

Oh!! I have it!! I didn't know what it was I was suffering from, but I have just self-diagnosed :)

I have a twitchy list this year. I am not adding to it. (With the exception of some marmite related products for my brother... and maybe some other bits.....)

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 10/12/2013 22:32

Aaarrghh now I neeeed to go back to Dunelm Mill for more cosy throws (even though I bought the Gingerbread Man throw and 2 cushions and they look gorgeous on my sofa) and a reindeer cushion from Asda.

But my two guinea-pigs need a festive throw.........................

pmTea · 10/12/2013 22:39

I am wetting myself with laughter at some of these posts - keep 'em coming Xmas Grin

pmTea · 10/12/2013 22:43

StillWearingOddSocks · 10/12/2013 23:42

Jaynebxl · 11/12/2013 07:46

Wow never even heard of the twitch before! And I certainly don't get it cos I see Christmas present shopping as a chance to give a little blessing to people rather than meeting all their needs and desires so I just think they are lucky to get a present at all!

randomAXEofkindness · 11/12/2013 08:32

I had everything I needed for the kids weeks ago. Twitched last week and spent £85 in the asda toy sale on my way to the welly section. I was like a crazed junkie, haranguing the staff to sell me the displays.
Him: "We never sell the demo's"
Me: "That doesn't mean you can't sell the demo's"
Him:"We can't sell the demo's"
Me: "Who can't sell demo's? I bet the manager can sell the demo's..."

In the end I bought the stuff online. While I stood next to the demo's Xmas Hmm. I'm sure somewhere in my subconscious I had the idea that if the stock wasn't available online I could still pick up the 4 foot dolls house and the wooden castle and friggin leg it.

And I can't promise it won't happen again Xmas Blush

Brockle · 11/12/2013 08:40
